History:
Born to a full family, he was graced as one of the rare few to possess multiple siblings. Two older siblings, one Konti like her mother and the other Akalak like his father, and three younger siblings, two Konti and another Akalak; his father was quite esteemed for his achievement and his mother was prided among both the Akalak people for mothering so many children and among her own who were in Riverfall for the same purpose. With the vast number of children, many of the extended family members who had little luck of their own spent time as babysitters and quite simply backup in later years of development.
Maewrath was the middle brother; with neither the bonus of being the eldest or the bonus of being the youngest, it was not uncommon for him to be scolded for a loss against his elder brother by his father while his mother scolded him for beating his younger brother with even the slightest sense of brutality. It was emotionally exhausting, the only way to live with it became to lose any bias lean towards a humble state or prideful. He was what he was, becoming the basis if his primary personality.
When his secondary personality appeared, it was unswayed by scolding for overachieving, but thrilled by them. Those for losing, however, drove him to spite. He would fight harder and longer if called weak or told victory was impossible. The overachieving narcissistic personality blended well with the indifferent side. It thrived on the conflicts the lighter half wished to escape. The dark soul became the metaphorical shell the light soul could hide inside.
After a near miss at his Rite of Trial, the balance of their relationship was brought into question. Though the dark half believed he could do anything, the light side believed he could do everything better. The arguments raged on for weeks after the trial. His mother settled the debate, finally, with a philosophic statement. "You are both technically the same person. Two perspectives, two ideas, two strengths and two weaknesses. They act like interlocking fingers. A valley of weakness for one hand is filled by a knuckle of strength from the other."
Though it did not sink in immediately, over a few seasons of turmoil with himself, Maewrath was on the brink of being marked a Cerulean. Neither half wished to be marked, so they came to a hasty truce which grew more stable as negotiations progressed. They equally shared the body, they would even split their name when talking to each other for individuality. The light soul would be Maew, while the dark soul would be Wrath, a word he quite liked in the Common language.
The sense of identity helped hasten things along, allowing them to talk to one another openly. They were nearly opposites, but neither cared about the other's faults. One was indifferent, the other was too wrapped up in himself. The two halves each had an interest in the mysterious arts of magic, they both enjoyed drawing, music, and they even began to enjoy talking to one another, sharing ideas and thoughts. Verbally talking to one another made it seem as if they were talking to other individuals entirely.
Though the dark side never became any kinder towards others and the light side never learned to enjoy inflicting pain, they softened each other out bit by bit. The dark side of Wrath was tempered to know when to retreat instead of dying and when to pick his fights, while the light side learned the best way to run from a conflict was simply to pass it off on his other half.
They took Animation as their choice of education. Though their father was not overly excited about the path, however, their mother enjoyed the idea of her child exploring horizons of magic.
