Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

The Hall Of Stones

Of the three halls, the Hall of Stones is the most grand. Built to show off the more spectacular finds pulled from the Coalinga Gem Mines, the Hall of Stones is a testament to Riverfall's stonework and gemcutting.

Great stone columns guard the entrance way, as well as actual guards, leading into a wide entrance hall. There is a long marble desk in the center, with information pamphlets and a cheerful greeter. Imported skyglass windows high on the wall give the room a dazzling amount of light. There are six doorways around the circular room, alternatively labeled 'Entrance' and 'Exit'. The first pair of doorways are marked "Stone Exhibit", the second "Gemstone Exhibit", and the third "Special Exhibit".

All the exhibition halls are in fact loops, each beginning and ending in the entrance room. Upon entering the Stone Exhibit, you will travel through a large hallway, brightly lit by strategic windows. Along both walls and on the occasional dais in the center are exhibitions under either glass or powerful djed shields. This first part of the Hall is one of the most underestimated, as it is primarily an educational display of different types of rocks and stones, with placards explaining their various types and relevant diagrams.

Returning to the front room, the entrance to the Gemstone Exhibit is to the right of the Stone exit. This second exhibit is significantly more popular than the first, though the hall is lit and laid out similarly. However, instead of rocks under glass, precious gemstones are under glass and shields. There is a significant increase in the number of guards as well, though here the very room seems to sparkle with the magnificence of the displays. Placards list the cut and style of each gemstone, as well as when it was unearthed.

Returning to the main room once more, the next right entrance will take you to the Special Exhibits, which rotate out seasonally. New exhibits are added continually, and the only way of knowing the schedule of exhibits is to inquire at the front desk. Exhibits include:
  • History of the Coalinga Gem Mines
  • The Art of Gemcutting
  • Pre-Valterrian Artifacts
  • Fossils
  • Exploration of Riverfall's Cliffs and Beaches

For any with less than academic intentions while perusing the gemstone (or any other) collection, security will be found to be deceptively tight throughout the Hall of Stones. All guards are proficient in shielding, and no area of the Hall is out of the sight of at least one guard. Plain clothes shielders walk the exhibits, strengthening shields over each item and looking for suspicious activity. While it is not immediately noticeable with all the windows, there are no doors directly into any of the halls save the main entrance and exit.

Guided tours are also available for a small fee. Additionally, the exhibited gemstones are available for private purchase, though the prices are into the millions of mizas. Most items in the Stone and Special Exhibits are not for sale, as either they have been specially chosen for educational purposes, or they include a piece of Riverfall's treasured history.

Kordok and Lovrik Kebred

Race: Akalak
DoB: 1st of Summer, 433AV
PoB: Riverfall
Title: Curator of the Hall of Stones
Skills: Reimancy 61, Sculpture 43, Gemcutting 33, Leadership 30
Gnosis: N/A
Additional Info: Kordok is seen by some as a quietly stern figure, the business face behind the Hall of Stones. He doesn't interact much with the other two heads of Halls, but rumor has it, the trio are on good terms at least. Not much is known about him personally, as he rarely interacts with visitors, but it is known that at different points in his life, he was a sculptor, gemcutter, and master Reimancer for the Coalonga Mines.

As an optimistic young man, he had his eye set on the beauty of the earth, and scratched a living as a freelance sculptor. He met Liana and after the birth of their first child, turned his eye to the more lucrative business of gemcutting. While he was proficient at it, he eventually turned to reimancing at the Mines for work that would allow him to work with the earth. Many years later, a bad back finally forced him out of the mines and into the Hall of Mines, where a select few of the items on display were brought from the earth by his own hands.

Title: Greeter at the Hall of Stones
Skills: Socialization 70, Leadership 63, Organization 44, Hostessing 30
Gnosis: 1 Rak'keli
Additional Info: Liana is Kordok's wife, and the pair are notoriously fertile. There have been 22 children born throughout their nearly-50 year marriage, though only 4 children are left at home. Many of her sons are guards at the Hall of Stones, and take over the guided tours when their mother gets too far along in one of her pregnancies to be on her feet all day.

Personally, she is an extraordinarily cheerful person, known as being nearly impossible to anger. Her many children know differently, however, having been on the receiving end of more than a few spankings in their young lives. She much prefers employment where she's able to meet new people and socialize, rather than the 'dull' research and business her husband engages in. She wishes for him to return to more hands-on work, where his heart lies, but Kordak will have all or nothing, and as his bad back prevents him from going back to the Mines, he stays where he is and makes the best of it.

When not at the Hall of Stones, Liana greatly enjoys gardening, and is always happy to discuss flowers, fruits, and various gardening tips with visitors.
