Ylvira Winterflame Appearance Race: Vantha Gender: Female Age: 19 Birthday: 5th of Winter, 494 AV Birthplace: Avanthal Appearance: Ylvira is very small in stature and stands at the short height of 5’2. However, despite her slight frame, she is quite deceptively strong and athletic from her time practising at the talon sword which is more than half her body size. Her skin is a light olive shade but is usually pale with the cold. Her hair is tinted a glistening shade of scarlet and like all Vantha, her eyes portray her emotions. - Gold is happy - Sapphire is calm - Ruby is love - Emerald is pain - Pink is curious - Dark Amethyst is sad - Light Amethyst is surprise - Topaz is fear - Aquamarine is anger Also like most Vantha, she is considered to have an almost ethereal beauty about her although she perceives herself to be average looking Character Concept Ylvira is a welcoming, friendly and somewhat dramatic young woman who likes to think she treats everyone the same way…wrong, she has a slight bias to people that she takes a liking to but that’s generally the case with most people. Nonetheless she will still smile at you and a wave a cheery hello even if she doesn’t particularly like you. This is sometimes extremely bad as Vira can never turn away a plea for help even when she hates a person or the task is extremely dangerous. Generally easy going, the only topics she gets cranked up on is her height, the fact she uses a talon sword that’s more than half her height and her non married status. It bugs her when people pester her to get married since she likes to think of herself as becoming an Icemaiden and not hopeless. She has had many suitors in the past all to be chased away by her one way or another. She is typically modest and doesn’t like to boast of course unless she’s being prideful of her more than basic knowledge of how to wield of talon sword, a weapon not native to the Taldera. From a very young age, it was clear to many of the people in the Winterflame hold that this girl was going to be a lovely addition. She helped around with cooking, held a natural interest for botany and herbalism and at the end of the day, jumped around everywhere practically being a great big bundle of joy. This continued happening until to age where she turned 14. At this point in life, she was feeling a need for something new, dangerous and exciting. Her fellow friends at this point were mainly from the Coolwater Hold (either than her own) as at one point in her life, she wanted to learn how to grow seaweed on land (although, we all know that’s pretty much impossible). This caused her to meet a few friends that she would carry on till adulthood. Back to when she was 14 years old, one of the older friends she had made (about 24) in the Coolwater Hold left to visit Wind Reach. In Wind Reach she had decided to buy a talon sword and bring in back to Avanthal. Extremely fascinated by this weapon that was nearly as tall as her, Vira demanded her friend give it to her. Humoured by this girl’s intense focus on getting the weapon, she promised Vira she would give it to her for 45 gold mizas. Happy with this price (she just wanted to get it really), she gladly exchanged all her savings for the talon sword. From that point on, she practised rigorously with the talon sword and developed her own usage of the blade. This made her somewhat neglect her other duties much to the chagrin of some members in her hold who berated her. This was the first time they ever witnessed a truly angry Vira. They learned to never tell her off about the weapon ever again (although some old fools do from time to time). When she became 16, this was when the true teasing started. Hell bent on the idea of becoming an Icemaiden, the first marriage proposal offered to her was ‘kindly’ refused (more like nastily). This made her parents question her which she then declared “I will be an Icemaiden forever!” before running out again and not facing her problems. Her parents raising an eyebrow at this action, shrugged it off and decided to let her come to her own senses. They wouldn’t push her towards marriage. Due to her temperament towards her weapon and pickiness on being single forever, some bullies from other holds began to tease her causing her to gain one bit of a temper towards these people. They told her she was wielding a “Tikita’s weapon”, she was “too small to ever use it properly” and “hopeless”. At first, like she always did when faced with nastiness, she ran away to get some alone time. However after her alone time sessions, she would steel herself with a readiness to prove everyone who teased her about the weapon she chose to wield and her preferred marital status. The presence of Morwens mark acts as antifreeze that warms the individuals blood and keeps them comfortable even in subzero temperatures. Exposed tissue can still freeze when faced with severe temperatures, but individuals are not at all prone to hypothermia if they are well protected against the weather. They may in fact even feel ‘comfortable’ in colder climates and indeed uncomfortable in warmer climates. At this stage, Ice Reavers can control the temperature of ice, melting it or freezing it in small portions. It is not unheard of for an Ice Reaver to scoop up a pot of snow, tap their gnosis, and have a pot of ice water instead ready for cooking. Ice Reavers at this level have the ability to tell how thick a piece of ice is - such as the surface of a lake - and can determine whether it is safe or not to hold weight. At this level, Ice Reavers can tap their gnoses and shape ice that is already formed as sculptors might - loosening and causing it to shed away until the pattern they want is formed. Ice Reavers at this level cannot create ice nor manipulate large portions of ice. They cannot, for example, thaw portions of a surface of a lake, but they can take the existing ice and reshape it or melt it. They can only change the viscosity of about a standard 10 gallons of water at a time. If conditions are cold and they try to repeat this process over and over again to achieve what a higher level Ice Reaver could, they would find their manipulations refreezing behind them as they worked. Housing Location: Avanthal House: 1 basic 20x20 Arvinta in the Winterflame Hearth with a hearth, bunk, chest, chair, and small table. Each Arvinta consists of a communal meeting or sitting room. Then there are private rooms for couples, and a common sleeping/living room for all the children. Visitors are often given a private room, while a couple will move in with the children to make extra room. Some of the larger, more expansive Holds with wealthier families have spare rooms in their Arvinta or special guest quarters when people move from place to place visiting. Holds often have common areas and craft cottages in buildings attached and are always made of solid stone. External buildings are often built from ice and warmed from within by special braziers that conduct heat into the room but do not melt the thick ice walls. A Hold may contain multiple Arvintas and might hold upwards of a couple hundred people.
