Tarquin Blacktide Race: Human, Svefra Age: 24 Gender: Male Birthday: 15 Fall, 490 Appearance: At 6'2, this young man has a swimmer's body, sculpted and lean, thanks to the years spent swimming in the Suvan sea. He carries himself with confidence, and his deep blue eyes regard the world around him with a vigilance that is at odds with the easygoing smile that dances on his lips. His hair is dirty blonde, bleached by the sea and sun, and usually looks wet and swept back over his ears, while his tanned skin is covered in a myriad of tattoos. The Oceanus mark is visible in the form of cresting waves across his shoulder blades and over his right shoulder. Character Concept: Personality - Being the older twin, has given Tarquin a sense of responsibilty regarding his brother. Like any Svefra, he likes to party, and he is in many ways like his brother, an explorer, an adventurer. However he is more cautious than his brother, and less likely to take unnecessary risks just for fun. While his brother is worrying about the nature of their next adventure, Tarquin is more likely to worry about what it'll take to survive in order to enjoy said adventure. This puts him at odds with his brother at times, who thinks Tarquin spends too much time worrying about everything. Still, there is nobody that Tarquin is closer to than his brother, and this bond between the two is something that can't be broken. Ethics - Tarquin is Svefra to the core. He holds to the typical beliefs of his people regarding ownership (or lack of it), and actually is quick to take offense to those that try to compare such beliefs to thievery. How can something be stolen if it wasn't taken from someone else's hand? And if they needed it so much, why was it carelessly left around for someone else to use? He also takes the traditions of his people very seriously. You won't see him skipping a Nal'lyeo any time soon. Likes - He likes the ocean. He loves hunting with his tavan, an orca named Riptide. He likes the water so much that while he enjoys sailing, he could do without a boat just fine. He likes a good party, but not too much of it and he enjoys exploring and adventuring, the freedom of the seas. He feels very at ease among other Svefra. Dislikes - Anyone that disparages the Svefra. He hates being on land, and feels rather uncomfortable whenever he has to be, usually depending on his brother's more carefree nature to get him through. His brother seeming lack of worry about things. Character History: Tarquin and his brother Banian were born during the Fall of 490. What should have been a joyous occasion for the pod, was tarnished by the death of their mother during labor. Their father was also gone, leaving the twins without parents, but as fate would have it, they were born Svefra and were taken in by the pod, raised by the pod, like all Svefra children are. While growing up, the twins did most everything together. They played together, hunted together, and flirted with girls together. However being the oldest, Tarquin felt responsible for his foolhardy brother. Because of this, Tarquin is a little more serious than Banian, as serious as a Svefra is. He still enjoys a good party, and adventure and excitement, however he constantly worries about things like survival, the availability of game if they need to hunt, and day to day issues of life that Banian appears unable to be bothered much about. Still, when it comes to the rest of the world, Tarquin will side with his brother every time. Together, the pair are masters of mischief and yet their good nature and jovial demeanor made it impossible for anyone to stay mad with them for too long. Now as adults, the two have developed their own interests, but they still remain together, adventure together and hunt together. Tarquin's inclinations lead toward adventuring and exploration, at least when it comes to the oceans. Over time, he's developed an adversion to being away from the ocean for too long, and is often uncomfortable if he must do so. He is Svefra and the ocean is the home of his people. It is simply, where he belongs. Tavan: Tarquin's tavan is a seven year old male orca named Fin. It is 23 feet long, and weighs around 6 tonnes. Fin is Tarquin's companion and often goes hunting with him, and can get quite annoyed with Tarquin when he doesn't pay attention to it for long. Fin can be playful, but aggressive, and in fact seems intent on eating Banian's tavan, a sea lion known as Barnacle. So far, Barnacle has avoided becoming Fin's meal.
