Ixion the Thief in the Lime Light

Appearance

Race: Myrian
Gender: Male
Age: Nineteen
Birthday: Day 4, Winter 496
Birthplace: Falndyar

Appearance: Ixion is a male, Myrian at nineteen years of age. As a young adult, he stands at 5’8in. with a weight of 150lbs. He has the standard Myrian characteristics of black hair, dark brown eyes, and a light tan shade to the skin on his somewhat thin yet soundly muscular body. His face is youthful and strong with a piercing gaze coming from his eyes, but he keeps the gaze in check to appear more cheerful. He is clean shaven with short messy hair that flows where it pleases. One missing characteristic are the tattoos and piercings that would adorn his body that represent his place among the Myrians.

Ixion's top consists of a slender chainmail undershirt that is covered by a olive green, long sleeved shirt. When times require it, he wears a black jacket as a cape, so he leaves his arms out of the sleeves while it is attached from the neck. His lower half is composed of fine woolen black pants and black leather shoes. When prepared for stealthy thieving, he keeps his backpack full of tools on him at all times as well as wearing a pair of black leather gloves to avoid leaving prints. When expecting combat, his main weapon is his teethed gauntlets. The rest of his weaponry is kept concealed. A stiletto is kept sheathed against the skin on his stomach while a dagger is kept against the skin on his lower back. His throwing knives are the only weapons he keeps at all times as they are kept hidden in his pouch of fake mizcas that tied to his waist.

Character Concept

Character Class: Ixion is the thief in the limelight. After naming himself after a fictional creature known to be quick as lightning and just as dazzling, he has held true to his namesake as he heists worthy of a theaters’ stage. After his few years within the City of Illusions, he has developed his own unique way of thieving befitting a trickster of tricksters. The number one rule is: “Make the obvious discreet.” In other words, distractions of all kinds are Ixion’s best tools. Misleading speeches, “accidental” injuries, discovering false evidence, item swaps, dirty fighting and more have become everyday occurrences to this aspiring thief as he builds upon this unique way of survival. Heist after heist within Alvada’s tricky interior and even trickier residents has made Ixion a very clever and witty speaker, planner, and thief. Overall, Ixion is an entertainer first as he knows how to rouse an audience’s gaze, and when their attention is divided he dons his role as a thief before they even get the chance to realize it.

Personality: Ixion has had a very unique upbringing that has torn him between two lifestyles. He holds two lives within him by being born a Myrian yet being raised within Alvadas. The traits he has adopted from being Myrian is their strength, determination, and self preservation which often impacts him in a negative way. This is countered and balanced with what he is taught within Alvadas where he gains the traits of wit, cunning, and compassion that positively enact upon him. The most influential difference between the two is that Ixion has forsaken the Myrian’s warlike nature for a more passive, carefree lifestyle. He retains a youthful optimism towards the world, and it is with that outlook that he chose his current “career”. As a thief, he sees corruption and misery that hasn’t been addressed by regular means, so he takes those problems into his own hands. Each heist he accomplishes slowly pulls him into a darker and darker world, but he knows it’s worth it as long as he can shine down the light. As he takes steps towards stopping evil, what stops him from falling into it?

Traits: The immediately recognizable traits Ixion possesses are seen through his speech, movements, and how he spends his time. He is a very smooth talker in which he prefers to flirt and praise another person as a way to feel accepted and feel relied upon. On the inverse, he is very dodgy when it comes to himself, and he will often dance around words or avoid the topic all together. The default movements he uses has a very confident stride with a good deal of effort exerted to seem graceful, but this actually makes him seem unreliable as he often over exaggerates these movements. The occasional trip and fall doesn’t help either. The first two traits can be averted according to his work. Lastly, Ixion has two major ways he spends his time. The first is his frequent departures from this world into the world of his thoughts. Regardless of where he is, he will just stop and think. It's unknown what he thinks about, but it's often noted that these bouts of thought can occur at any moment which tend to shatter any focus he has. This has a major benefit of being able to come up with amazing ideas, but it also requires that he practically reset his brain to be able to continue with what he was doing. The way he averts these sudden spasms of thought is his second time spender, work. Practicing his skills, keeping a lookout, performing, or more takes up much of his time and mental capacity that it is a very major part of who he is.

Morals: Morals: Ixion has his own personal rule book that he follows while on jobs as his own way of building his skills and keeping the peace even while he breaks it. Course, there's always a time to break a rule or two. 1: I will always support women and children. Break = No exceptions. 2: I will not act in open conflict. Break = Rule 1. 3. I will only target corrupt individuals. Break= Rule 1 and 2. 4. I will take only what is necessary. Break= Rule 1, 2, 3. 5: I will not murder. Break = No exceptions.

Likes: 1. Ixion is very fond of women and children. He will trust them unless given a clear reason not to, but even then he might fall into obvious traps on purpose. 2. Ixion loves a challenge. He firmly believes that skills only advance when he is pushed to his limits and beyond. 3. Ixion is a terrible drunk, but he can't help sipping whatever gets into his cup. Alcohol supposedly allows him to see through illusions. 4. Ixion actually prefers to keep things simple even in his most complex plans. This leads to some plans failing through, and a terrible "Plan B" having to take its place. This love of simplicity also allows him to stay in places people would deem dirty or another kind of unsuitability such as a barn or cave. 5. Ixion greatly believes in luck and allows it to fill in any uncertainties in everything he does.

Dislikes: 1. Due to the nature of his captors, Ixion is very wary of other men, and it takes quite an effort for him to open up at all to a man. 2. Ixion is against his Myrian heritage due to how it conflicts with his current self. He doesn't feel comfortable around other Myrians, and he will try to avoid them when possible. This may lead to unique situations of absolute hate towards male Myrians and an awkward atmosphere around female Myrians. 3. Ixion despises people that are unjustly superior/put down people lower than them. He will put a challenge upon himself to see how many notches he can drop that person even if its unnecessarily risky. 4. Due to how drugs caused his memory lost, he avoids or disposes of the stuff when possible. 5. Ixion, even as a trickster and believer in Ionu himself, dislikes illusion magic as it ruins the thrill thieving provides.

Character History

Ixion's childhood, prior to fourteen, has been erased from his memory due to a tragic event that led to his drugging, capture, and journey away from Falndyar as a potential slave. Ixion has forgotten his given name and clan as well as many other details of his life as a true Myrian. It is a likely idea that his childhood probably consisted of usual hunter and warrior training fit for the Myrians.

The journey as a slave became a blank year for Ixion as no one except him knows what he faced during it. The only details that have been revealed is that he was subdued through forced drug use that caused memory lost, a riot that ended with the murder of his captors, and a frenzied escape that led him to Alvadas. There does seem to be one lingering detail that he wants to reveal, but it is a very private secret that will only be spoken in time.

At the age of fifteen, Ixion containin only his broken soul was at the step of a new life, but armed with only the rags on his back and a bag of mizcas it was a going to be a rough start. The earliest experience he had at this moment was his attempt to purchase food to find all his mizcas were fake. In a desperate state, Ixion took back his mizcas along with the food and ran. On the run from an angry merchant while constantly going down the ever changing Alvadas paths, it wasn't long before Ixion stumbled upon and hid within the Temple of Ionu. As he entered, the splendor of illusion was thrust upon him. This moment changed his life forever as the old temple shone before him. The people within the church were the most amazing people he has met to this day. The thoughts and ideas that popped up one by one in his mind soon overwhelmed him enough to enter and repair his broken soul.

Needless to say, Ixion's fascination with the illusions he saw that day became his major step toward becoming the thief he is today. Utilizing the innate tracking talents of the Myrian, Ixion put them to a unique use by being extra observant when studying the many illusions, tricks, and stunts around him. His training included, but was not limited to, learning about Ionu, the shifting patterns of Alvadas, speech and movement recognition, several thieving arts, and his creative use of distractions. The result turned Ixion into a budding thief with a thirst for excitement and knowledge. On his first step to show the world who he is, Ixion hitches a ride upon a merchant ship and takes his first step in the magnificence that is Syliras.
