Desperation Bay Desperation Bay is a large, deep inlet on the coast of Taldera. During the winter, it completely freezes over, and travel in or out by water is impossible. During this time Northen seals flock to the bay to give birth. Flopping up onto the ice they paddle with their flippers into the inlet where they can safely give birth. Protected by the cliffs that surround the inlet from land predators and the long expanse of ice across the water from water predators it is the largest seal birthing area known in Taldera. During the winter Orcas and other large northern predators are known to wait by the ice shelf for the females to slip in and feed, often leaving orphaned seals to either starve or be taken on by another mother. The inlet is covered in grey shale and black coal like lumps. Due to the high concentration of creatures during the winter it is a frequent hunting place for the Coolwater hold. During the rest of the year when the water melts it is largely ignored with only the intermittent animal finding refuge or becoming trapped in the deep inlet. A deep watered inlet, during any other season, it is the perfect place for a sailor to dock their ship without risking damage. Found by Kenabelle Wright as she circumnavigated Mizahar it is the largest bay in the Northern Waters and also holds some of the most abundant mosses. However, the bay can only be accessed by boat and many of the medicinal plants found here can only be collected by the Coolwater hold.
