Day 10, Spring, 514 AV

A sigh settled upon Black's lips as she rested a shoulder against a wooden wall, situated just between 'The General Goods Store' and 'Treasures of the Sea.' While normally she wouldn't be so close, she had decided that she wanted to do something easier for a change, something that wouldn't require her running away so soon. That meant she had to change her tactics a little and be a little more subtle. While there were a few good targets, she figured that once she got a hold of their purses, she would have to run like a bat out of hell, not that she could complain, she enjoyed the running and the chase but for now, she figured she could settle for someone that she could just 'bump' into. Maybe get them a little off balance so then they wouldn’t notice the fact that she was stealing their purse. All the while she was taking their purse for her own, something she was more than happy to do. Well, if she didn’t then someone else was going to and that wouldn’t line her pockets with mizas.

Her brown hues glanced upwards at the sky, noting the sun was halfway across the sky and was glad for the shadows of the hood of her black cloak that was pulled closed around her face, but not only did it obscure her facial features from the sight of wandering eyes, it also provided some kind of shade. Upon this day, she was wearing a full outfit of black, like normal, a black shirt, a black pair of pants and a black pair of boots. Indeed, she was decked out in black, however, she found the colour to be a bit of an advantage. Especially during the night time, where one would want to disappear into the dark to leave their victims behind with nothing but an empty pocket. Indeed, some times the thrill of successfully picking a pocket was worth the danger and other times, you would think yourself crazy for even daring to.

Black would shift upon the spot for a moment, mostly just shifting her weight from one leg to another as she patiently waited to spot the desired target. Normally 'The General Goods Store' was pretty busy considering Zeltiva was situated on the edge of the Suvan sea, or so she had heard people call it. To her it was just a great big expanse of water that would take a strong swimmer to cross it... Or drown. Angling her head, she began to wonder if anyone had actually tried swimming the Suvan Sea. Something that Black wasn’t game enough to do, especially seeing as she couldn’t exactly swim, it wasn’t a skill learnt before her parents were murdered. Not that she ever felt like she was missing out on something by not being able to swim, for she preferred to have her feet planted firmly upon the ground. While swimming did looked like fun, she knew that the further out you got, the deeper the water got and that it also meant that you couldn’t see through to the bottom anymore. That meant that something could easily swim up underneath you and get you as easily as that. The very thought made her shiver.

Silently, the young equine casted her gaze outwards again, keeping an eye out for city officials, which were the wave guards and for people that actually had something worth stealing. After all, that's why she was standing here outside the general goods store trying to spot a worthy target to go after, she wanted to make it some-what profitable and worth her time standing here. A few people would walk in front of her, some looked like they might be able to chop off your head if you even attempted at stealing their purse. A couple looked more like they only carried a few mizas and their eyes were too attentive to actually steal from without being caught, they would only call the guards down upon you, another type that was too much effort than coin and more trouble than anything. A sigh fell upon her lips as she would cross her arms over her chest, her brown hues sliding over the figures of the people that were simply walking by. One of them would become and her target and hopefully, she would get a purse worth stealing.

Black sighed softly as her gaze drifted out towards the sea once again, people watching wasn’t exactly the most ideal way to spend her day, in fact, she would rather be doing nothing at this time of day. However, her pockets needed to be lined with some kind of miza, so out and about she was, no matter how annoyingly frustrating it was. She was beginning to think that most people were a lot more cautious during the day, especially when it came to their purses. A soft yawn came to her lips as her brown eyed gaze would then turn back to the crowd taking note of the many different people that were there. Men and women a-like were out and about, even children as they played in and around the legs of those trying to get to places. Indeed, the day time was when people were more active, but they were also more aware of those around them. For people relied upon their sight quite a bit and during the day time, the sun provided a great deal of light, which was probably why they were so active during the day.

Her gaze drifted from one person to the other, taking particular silent notes. He is way too watchful, she is quite obviously not carrying much upon her, otherwise, she wouldn’t be wearing basic rags. The thought made Black come to a stop in her thoughts as she bit down upon her bottom lip. Rags were a definite sign that someone was more than likely a beggar, something that unsettled the young equine for it hit too close to home. She could remember a time when she herself was nothing more than a beggar and to see the older woman begging sent a shiver down her spine. Had a thief not helped Black get her onto her feet, she would probably be just like that woman. Begging for the scraps that people were occasionally willing to give away, even a spare miza would sometimes make their way to a beggar. However, it was hard and you had to spend a lot of time begging, grovelling at the feet of pass-byers as they went about with purses full of gold mizas. Half the time, they wouldn’t even look at you for a lot of people felt as if you were beneath their boot, not even worth a small glance.

Biting down upon her bottom lip, she looked back to the crowd as she leaned forwards onto both her feet, shrugging her weight off the side of the building. She wasn’t too keen on going down memory lane, in fact she would rather not, so she focused more intently on finding a target, one that she would be able to pick-pocket with no hassles involved. It was then however, that she spotted a medium height man, he was rather… Well… She angled to her head to the right as she tried to spot anything of interest, but she couldn’t find any particular feature that was interesting, he was down-right dull. However, he appeared to be unaware of his surroundings and his purse that was tied to his belt, looked as if it might have a bit of coin inside it. She pushed forwards into the crowd, her hand moving to rest upon the hilt of the dagger that was sheathed at her side. She did not want to lose this man, for he looked like he had some very deep pockets. Pockets that might mean that she could very well quit stealing for the season and just simply relax, or, buy herself something really nice, perhaps a set of new clothes to wear while she wasn’t out stealing.

Her brown gaze remained upon her target as she threaded through the crowd and luckily for her, he still hadn’t noticed that she had pinned her sights upon him and a simple smirk fell into place upon her lips as she attempted to make her steps light, so not to be seen or heard by the male. She wouldn’t exactly pick his pocket just yet, for he was too open within the crowd. Too many eyes could see her attempt to pick his pocket and depending upon the eye that would see her, would call the wave guards down upon her. With that in mind, she didn’t exactly want to be hauled off to be executed just yet, in fact she would rather keep her head and live out whatever years she had left. If she had any years left, she thought to herself as she tugged at the edges of her hood with her free hand, making sure that it still fully covered her facial features. The last thing she needed was for someone to recognize her. She wasn’t so much as worried that someone from her past might recognize her, but she was more worried about the people surrounding her, might recognize her face and also remember the fact that she had been following someone.

Suddenly, the crowd grew thicker and she found that she was brushing shoulders with people more often than not and had to slow down her pace considerably. The target, however was still moving forwards at a steady pace and it did not seem like he was going to slow down. Perhaps a group of people had walked around the corner, which was why there was suddenly so many people. Gritting her teeth, she began to weave through them, as she lost sight of the male. No! No, no, no, no, no! He couldn’t have gone so quickly, he still had to be around, she thought to herself as she roughly shoved against another woman. For this, she received a dirty look before Black ignored it and continued pressing on through the crowd. Finally, it seemed as if she would reach a break through the crowd and she darted for it, finally breaking through the clustered group of people and she sighed a sigh of relief. However, she had begun to feel that she had lost the man, before she spotted his brown cloak as he ducked around the corner into an alleyway and Black was quick upon his heels, her figure darting forward, to round the corner and…

Bam! She ran straight into the man that she had previously been stalking through the streets and his arms came up to wrap around her form and pull her close, a dagger pressed close to her neck, close enough to nick it should she move. Which she guessed, was a pretty damn good incentive not to move as his breath caressed her neck while his whispered words reached her ears. ”I bet you regret following me now don’t you?” She would have nodded, had the male’s dagger not been too close to her neck, she swore she could see her own fearful reflection within the blade. ”I tell you what, if I let you go, you will forget even seeing me, we part our ways here and you get to live.” That sounded pretty fair to her, she was always in favour of living, so her tongue darting out to lick her lips before her soft voice spoke, careful with each word that passed her lips. ”Uh, yeah, I’m in favour of not dying, so can we please forget about this? Because I know, that if I live, I really am going to walk away and forget this, chop it up to a bad day at work.” A soft chuckle would be heard from the male before the dagger would then draw away from her neck and she was suddenly free to move once again. Lifting a hand to her neck, she absent-mindedly rubbed at it as her brown gaze went to view the surrounding areas. Gone, he was gone she thought to herself with a frown. For the rest of that day, however, she spent most of her time up in her room at the Grotto, staring at the door as if the assassin from her past might come back to get her.
