Born the youngest to a middle class Alahean merchant family, Relos spent his early days learning the ways of mathematics and the art of bargaining. Normally he would have been preparing to take up the family tradition; however the increasing pressure from Suvan in the war dictated that the Othrin family contribute to the effort. So at the age of 15 the young man was sent off to the Royal Academy of Magic, his future uncertain.
Initially he displayed as much aptitude for magic as a squirrel; the quiet young Relos appeared to have zero desire to even serve Alahea in the capacity of a combat wizard. He was chalked up as yet another wash out, until he was introduced to Shielding and Auristics by none other than Seleumence Varubicht, now known as Boss Rubik. Within a couple of years he had far surpassed his instructors, indeed his weaves were a work of art to behold. It was this high aptitude for both Shielding and Auristics that eventually landed him as an instructor at the Academy. Due to his vaulted expertise with Shields, which had saved many lives in the war effort, he was chosen to join the ARMED project, and thus began his life on Sahova.
Relos is perhaps one of the most docile Nuit in the Citadel, quiet and more than happy to keep to his lab and his research. An utter pacifist in every sense of the word he believes that the inner secrets of shielding are the key to halting violence, believing that if no one can harm the other then the conflict is made pointless. To this end he possesses an obsession with creating the ultimate shield, one that can even halt the gods themselves in their tracks. His use of Auristics allows him further insight into the weave of Shields, making him a very formidable defensive force.
He is noted for being extremely logical and well grounded, unbiased in his own way and examining issues from every possible angle before making a judgment. Relos has been visited a couple of times by the goddess Gnora, who has further nurtured his logical and contemplative nature. His bodies often reflect these marks, when displayed there is a visible density increase in his arms. He conceals these for the most part, preferring to keep his religious beliefs from interfering with his service to the Citadel.
He has no problem with working with more martial minded wizards; indeed he welcomes collaboration as it often assists in perfecting new shield designs. Those who apprentice under him, if they can stand his extremely orderly and compulsive mannerisms will find him rather pleasant if a bit distant. His more calm and scholarly magic’s have left his mind unmarred by insanity, but his long life has made him cautious to form attachments to any. Rarely, very rarely one might catch the faintest hint of a smile when he works, though it is often gone so quickly it could be dismissed as a trick of the light. His utter lack of political ambition has halted him at the rank of Wizard, which he does not begrudge. That being said, he is a smooth negotiator as his upbringing has made it very easy for him to play at words with the best of them. Combined with his calm attitude he is very adept at playing the level head and voice of reason when conflict arises.
The Nuit is an extremely meticulous creature by his nature, rarely deviating from his chosen paths and planning them out very carefully. He will almost always select his bodies to reflect how he appeared in life, a man of average height with dark hair and brown eyes. He cares for them with much patience, when he is seen outside of his lab it is in the Palsa Hydrasa to partake in a Nuit bath or two.
