An undead citadel created before the cataclysm, Sahova is devoted to all kinds of magical research. The living may visit the island, if they are willing to obey its rules. [Lore]
The Ring Maker’s workshop is one of those places in Sahova that can only be found if the seeker already knows where to look or is exceptionally gifted in auristics. The door itself is a work of gadgeteering genius by the the golem maker Filch, a seemingly seamless portion of wall that opens only to those who are authorized to the gatekeeper golem disguised as a brick. The only telltale sign of the laboratory is the smoke emitted from the forge, but it has been channeled to spill out the lava tunnels along with the Yachluria Forges own gaseous by-products.
Within the laboratory lies a diminutive forge and multiple work tables take up every open inch of floor space that isn’t needed for walking. Fully one half of the room is dominated by an alchemy work station. The walls are lined with shelving supporting all manner of containers, those few made of glass clearly display mounds of unembellished auric rings.
This particular laboratory came about recently, with the rise of Lecter Qiao. The novel nature of the chamber has not stopped a heavy layer of soot and dust from accumulating on the majority of it. The only soul consistently found within the lab is Arios.
Arios, The Ring Maker :
With the rise of Lecter Qiao, Arios gained mastership. Previously he had been an unremarkable wizard in every way, which given the outcome may have been by Qiao’s design. Before making rings the Master Magecrafter had worked with the golems in Lab 15, forging several of the more specialized pieces that the golems required. Now he makes the rings worn by every accepted apprentice, untested wizard, and prestigious master mage that call themselves Sahovan.
Arios is among the subset of nuits that prefer child-like bodies. Once in a great while he will take the corpse of a full-grown man and during this season he will spend bells at his forge, stocking up on rings to modify later.
As a craftsman Arios is a genius but as a Master he leaves much to be desired. It is a rare day that Arios takes an apprentice, the secret machinations of the rings considered far too dangerous for the minds of the untested, but when he does it is because the individual is truly exceptional or because he was assigned by Qiao himself. Even still these apprentices are kept away from the true nature of rings. A nature which many of the more paranoid nuit will ponder on in silence, for why would an animator be tasked with ring creation?
In any event, for an outrageous feeMust be negotiated with a ST the magecrafter will deviate from his normal ring pattern and create fine works of gem and metal for the mages of Sahova.
