Arend

Race: Human, Inarta
Gender: Male
Age: 27 years old
Birthday: 70th, Summer, 487 AV
Birthplace: Zeltiva
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 180 pounds

Appearance

Two strong bloodlines war for dominance in Arend's appearance. His Inartan mother has gifted him with a blaze of thick messy copper hair and a faint smattering of freckles, while he inherited darker skin than she and striking blue eyes from a Vantha father--the exact color in his emotional spectrum that his irises take when he is elated. Agile and confident steps with a long stride compliment his lean, corded Inartan physic. His uncalloused hands speak of a life dedicated to gentler pursuits, and a just rolled out of bed sleepy smile is never far from his lips. Arend doesn't look like much--in fact he's been mistaken for a vagabond before, but he blames the fact that his fingers are usually dirty from clay and he puts less effort than some into his general appearance. His jaw is rarely clean shaven and his hair combed quickly in the morning by a quick rake with his fingers.

Character Concept

Amiable: Arend is one of those strangers in the street who will offer just about anyone a nod and a smile. He feels there's too much negativity in the world, so he fights it with a downright pleasant and friendly attitude.

Modest: He doesn't take pleasure from attention or lavished praise, and tries to divert any and all energies away from his person onto others. In a way it turns him always shy; into a mumbling and red faced boy, awkward and uncomfortable.

Pacifist: Never has he raised a hand against anyone, nor has anyone raised a hand against him. He feels any and all differences can be overcome with patience and communication. Arend's opinion of violence--physical or verbal--is that it's the easy way out and doesn't solve the initial problem(s) in the first place.

Artistic: Art is his escape. Be it sculpting with clay or his second passion for baking, he dives in with every ounce of concentration and every fiber of his being when inspiration or desire strikes him. He can be become lost in that one moment and not have to worry about anything or anyone else, if even for a few chimes.

Messy: One of his more undesirable qualities. Arend can look the part of a homeless traveler without even thinking about it. Often times he rolls rigt out of bed, throws on yesterday's clothes, and goes about his business with clay caked on his hands or flour on his pants. His hair seems to be a perpetual state of bedhead, and his jaw is never clean shaven.

Lazy: Arend suffers oftentimes from a lack of inspiration, be it artistically or in general. He's found himself on more than one occasion just lying in bed all day, knowing he should do something but not finding the energy to actually get up and do it. Cleaning his flat more often than not is the singular task that is rarely done.

Alcoholic: His least attractive quality. Arend is a sloppy drunk that can't hold his liquor, but still tries nonetheless. This is a direct cause of his other unpleasant qualities. At least one morning of the week he's likely to wake up hungover and smelling like cheap beer. He picked up this trait by accident from a past friend, and quickly became addicted.

Character History

[size=120]Born and raised in Zeltiva, Arend has grown up in a colorful and flavorful city with equally unique parentage. His mother was born in Wind Reach on Mount Skyinarta, but fell in love with his Vantha father who had visited there on trade business, selling his carvings and ornamental sculptures. She left her life among her people to travel with him, and somehow they eventually ended up settling in the multicultural port city. He grew up happy and healthy, learning of both his mother and father's lineage, but managing to find his own identit
