Appearance

Race: Myrian
Gender: Female
Age: 23
Birthday: 20, Autumn, 490
Birthplace: Taloba

Appearance: Mija is 6'1" tall, with a lithe, muscular build. She does not appear bulky, but don't be fooled. Her body is a well-maintained tool. Her muscles are very easy to see as she rarely wears much clothing. Sometimes she will casually wear a loin cloth and a sash, but often she prefers to be naked. When fighting she dons leather armor, and she also owns a set of elaborate formal wear that she mainly uses for dancing. Her hair is long and black. Mija usually has it up in tight, interwoven braids, but when it is free it hangs all the way down to the small of her back. She has green eyes like her father, which was always a disappointment to her; she preferred her mother's eyes. Her skin is tan and covered in tattoos symbolizing various achievements. She has a symmetric tattoo across her face of the jagged blade to which her family got its name, a tattoo on her right shoulder depicting a Symenestra she slew, a single line halfway running halfway across her neck on the left side signifying her first kill, and tiger stripes along the sides of her legs and V-ing out across her buttocks and the sides of her lower back. She wears a single nose piercing made from a bit of metal from her mother's armor, a gift for passing her trial. Under the tattoos and piercings, she has pleasing features.

Character Concept

In one word, Mija is ambitious. She has grown up with stories of Myri, Miha, and Misha's conquests, and desires to be a great leader herself. Her loyalty to the Taloban Army is practically unbreakable. She is a warrior at heart, fighting for what she holds most dear: her home and family. Mija is not afraid of bloodshed to achieve her objectives. However, she is not as ruthless as she seems. Mija is capable of mercy, although she would never admit this because she doesn't think it is true. She prefers to keep her heart and mind separate. This allows her to carry out her orders without question, and, when necessary, to use her beauty and status to her advantage.

When faced with a challenge, Mija is both fierce and cunning. She does not believe that defeat is an option; so far it has not been. If Mija ever did lose, she would be devastated. To her, this would mean not only failing herself and her family, all the way up to Miha and Myri.

Mija feels threatened by very few individuals. She mostly ignores those underneath her unless she is their leader, in which case she gets to know their strengths and weakness so that she can effectively lead them. She reveres those who are above her if she considers them worthy warriors, but she disdains those that do not prove that they are better than she. Mija usually feels competitively towards those she considers her equals, and while she may bond with others she will never be able to be completely comfortable with anyone. Her ambition is too great for her to ever let her guard down, even to herself. She represses any fears, refusing to show them to anyone. This puts Mija under a lot of stress. If she were ever to break under the pressure, it would likely result in violence.

To unwind from her stress and to celebrate the glory of Myri, Mija takes great pride in her interpretive dances. Mija has been fascinated by the tales of her people from a young age, and, since most of the stories are told through dance, she has always been amazed by dancing as well. She is a passionate dancer, taking to the art form with religious zeal. Not only does Mija use dancing to reflect her heritage and religion, she also uses it to tone her body and to improve various acrobatic abilities, such as balance.

Character History

Mija was lucky enough to be born the daughter of Misha of the Jagged Blade, making her a direct decedent of Myri, the Goddess-Queen of War, through Miha. Her mother, Misha, a member of the Council of Nine, was often too busy to care for Mija, but the young girl did not feel neglected. Instead, she admired her mother's strength and intelligence. Mija barely remembers her father as he died in battle when she was quite young, but her family has told her that he was rather strong and tall for a man, a worthy mate for her mother. Still, Mija views his defeat as weakness. She does not consider him a hero like her mother. For as long as she could remember, her clan has raised her on the story of her ancestors. In fact, Mija's first word was not "mother" or "grandmother" like most children, but "Myri." By the time she was two she could recount her ancestral tales as well as any elder.

From her clan's history, Mija knew that greatness was expected of her. Fortunately fighting came easily to her. Mija began training her body as soon as possible. She got her first kill, a Charoda, when she was barely fifteen, newly enlisted in the Taloban Army. Mija had meant to behead the Charoda, but the look in the Charoda's eyes made her doubt what she was doing at the last second. Thus, she only cut halfway through its neck. When she told the story later, she lied, saying that she wanted the pathetic creature to suffer before dying. Mija tattooed her neck in honor of the kill, and as a reminder to herself to never fear killing an enemy in the future. (I'll do a flashback about this.)

During the fall of her seventeenth year, Mija completed her trial. In honor of this event, she replaced her painted stripes with actual tattooed ones. However, it was not Mija, but another Myrian that stood out on this mission. Mija felt extremely jealous when this Myrian was marked by Myri instead of her. (Expect flashbacks of this, too.)

That winter Mija was asked to play the part of Miha in an interpretive dance during the week-long celebration for Myri's Birthday. Of course, she accepted. Performing that dance was one of the proudest moments of her life. Myri was in the audience; Mija was determined to prove her worth and devotion to the goddess. Mija made direct eye contact with the goddess when she spoke Miha's famous words. Myri must have been rather impressed by the performance, as Miha was given a gnosis mark from the goddess right then and there. (What do you know, another flashback is needed for this.)

At twenty, after being the only survivor of a particularly dangerous mission, Mija became a Tokoh. While Mija was proud of this accomplishment, the experience somewhat tempered her fearless personality. Her qualms with the idea of mercy stem from this mission. It was after this mission that she got her Symenestra tattoo. (I will do flashbacks of the mission and to make sure she has the necessary skills to become a Tokoh before playing in real time.)

Now, Mija feels closer than ever to achieving her goals. She hopes to continue to receive marks from Myri and to become a Kepala or even an Atasan.
