Appearance:
With the practice of jumping bodies, Maeven does not have a concrete appearance. One to take meticulous care of his body, he tends to not show visible signs of rotting until at least a year into habitation. There is a very clear pattern to how he chooses the body he inhabits. Regardless of gender, Maeven prefers for the bodies that he inhabits to have very slender, long-fingered hands. He prefers for the corpses that he manipulates to be neither tall nor short, staying at heights between 64 and 70 inches. The Nuit tends to wear very loose, hooded clothing at the body which tightens at the arms so as to not interrupt his range of motion. His facial features are quite often neutral, and his lips move only slightly when he speaks, which can, to some, be rather unsettling. Regardless of his current body's shape, Maeven's gaze has the habit of being very piercing in nature, a byproduct of his practice of Auristics, perhaps.
Character Concept:
Maeven is one of the Everwalking. In this, he was created to have a far lesser state of aloofness that brings with it the quality of curiosity. Instead, Maeven is very driven on one particular point. Using what he has at his disposal and what he knows off-hand, he presses forward. This is not to say that he does not welcome new information, but if something is not required, he will not go out of his way to investigate it. The type to cut his losses and limit ventures into the unknown, Maeven uses a calculative mind to his advantage. A keen intellect guides his direction, and plans quickly form in his mind, a simplified, theoretical equation holding him until a task is complete or he hits a metaphorical wall and is unable to continue without first having more credible information.
The practice of Auristics has only made Maeven more guided in his endeavors. It allows him to configure his plans with greater accuracy and understand the intentions of the world around him so as to better formulate his ideas. In fact, the Nuit has become so enthralled by the use of Auristics that it is rare for him to not involve the practice in any sort of interaction that he has, whether it is professional or social in nature.
However, beneath the cold facade that the Everwalking nature has imposed upon Maeven's mind, there is a very present personality. Ambition is his primary motivator, goals to learn and expand his repertoire of magicks (so long as they combine fluidly with projects that he has currently undertaken.) litter his existence. His interactions while geared almost exclusively towards the advancement of his work or to the service of others and their work, are rarely unpleasant. He carries himself not with an air of arrogance nor is he closed-minded to the presence of others, though he shrouds himself with a heavy air of sarcasm and indifference. For the most part, this is purposely done so as to drive prying eyes and incompetent people away. from him and his purpose.
Maeven has a distinct methodology when he thinks. A philosophical personality would be correct in diction, though he rarely delves into the esoteric and abstract. Impeccably practical in his dealings, all things are reduced to their base component: numbers, definitions, words, terms and information, then meticulously connected and unified to form chains of thoughts. He does things one step at a time, feeling that to multi-task is to divert his focus and therefore waste his time. The only exception to this is in the tracking of distinct auras, for to maximize the absorption and collection of information using Auristics is, in his mindset, best done as a collective rather than a singularity. This, logically speaking, also extends to the collection of factual information through tomes. Research is collected in troves, but analyzed and applied methodically and systematically.
