Day 88, Summer, 514 AV
Redd had known hunger before and she had known what starvation was like, she also knew what it was like to be on the brink of death, weak and her strength failing her with every day that passed. So when her master disappeared after the event at the kelvic centre, she had slowly begun to grow hungrier and hungrier as each day passed. She had attempted to shift the day before, in hopes that she may be able to catch some stray animals as desperation began to win out. The leather collar that was firmly locked around her pale neck strangled her once again and a blue and purple bruise had appeared along her skin underneath her collar once more. The gifted scarf that she had worn around her neck was now tied around her wrist, because she no longer wanted anything around her neck, she couldn’t stand it. The collar around her throat felt like it was choking her, she didn’t want a scarf wrapped around her neck to double that effect. Indeed, she was losing hope that her master would ever return. He had barely been around all season and now, there had been a lack of his presence for a few days. Where had she gone wrong to deserve such hunger from him?
The young woman began to pace the docks, her bare feet brushing against the wooden planks underneath as she tried to decide as to what to do. She was dressed as she normally would be, apart from the red scarf being wrapped around her wrist, she was dressed in her black garb. Her red brindled hair, brushed against her shoulders as she shook her head in thought. The familiar pain of being left behind filled her form as she squeezed her hazel hues closed and came to a stop, a soft growl upon her lips. At this point she couldn’t care less about how the humans that passed looked at her, she was hungry and in a city where there was so many bodies… That was it! Her eyes snapped open as she looked around for someone walking around with food. Maybe she could take food from someone. After-all, in the wilds it was the strongest of the fittest and that meant if one was stronger, she could simply take the food from someone weaker in order to live.
With another growl that settled upon her lips, she slipped into the shadows of the buildings, it was what she would have done if she had been hunting for a doe or buck and she began to pay attention to the items that the humans were carrying. Lifting her nose, she began to also scent out anything that even resembled food. While she would prefer something like meat which would sustain her for a longer period of time, she would even settle for something called bread until she could work out how to get the collar off. Bread wasn’t exactly something she considered appetizing, but she had noticed that is was more common at the moment and her observations were correct as some dark haired man walked passed. His appearance looked scruffy enough to remind her of a traveler, for he even had stubble framing his jaw. His clothes were still dirty from the road, not like a citizen where they mostly had clean clothes and a neat appearance. Upon finding her target, she slinked out of the shadows, her footsteps hurrying after the man before she lost him to the crowd, a feat which was easy to do. She wouldn’t be able to scent him out, if she did lose him, for there were too many scents from the crowd.
Upon closing in upon the male, she reached out a hand to rip open the back pack and snag the hunk of bread that had been slightly sticking out. ”Hey!” He cried out and spun around to grasp the wrist of her hand that held the bread. Her hazel eyes dropped to view the hand that held a grasp upon her wrist and a growl began to bubble its way up onto her lips. He was providing to be a barrier between her and the food that she now held. That would just not simply do for the wolf, she had to eat, her survival counted on her eating this, otherwise, she would begin to feel the familiar effects of her own strength leaving her and there was no way that she was going to allow that without a fight. A snarl then tore through her as she lunged towards him, her sharp teeth bare and ready to rip into his throat. A cry of alarm passed the stranger's lips before he brought an arm up to protect his face. A mistake on his part, for she didn’t necessarily care about the face, a wolf learned that any damage was better than none and she sunk her teeth into his forearm, her slightly elongated canines piercing quickly through his skin and she tasted blood. Blood! Oh how long had it been since she tasted such a treat? This only served to double her efforts of attacking the male as she gave way to a more primal lust for blood.
