Life Changing Events [Solo]

While Sylira is by far the most civilized region of Mizahar, countless surprises and encounters await the traveler in its rural wilderness. Called the Wildlands, Syliran's wilderness is comprised of gradual rolling hills in the south that become deep wilderness in the north. Ruins abound throughout the wildlands, and only the well-marked roads are safe.

35th of Fall 510

Keres woke early to the sound of voices on the road. He guessed that it was just past midday by the amount of light. He watched silently from around a tree as a small caravan of five people, all humans passed.

As he looked upon them, feelings of rage built up inside him. He felt himself wanting to run at them. Wanting to cover his hands in their blood.

He fought down those feelings as best he could thinking that these people were not the ones who took his family and if they were he was certainly no match for them armed only with the Tamo Daggers he had found left in the cave.

Once the people had passed, Keres returned to his resting place, but his thoughts began to come fast and with such strength that he could not sleep. He slowly began to visualize choosing his footsteps in the forest. He closed his eyes with the thoughts trying to overwhelm him and began to force himself to imagine trying to be silent while moving through the forest. After a great deal of time, he fell asleep.

That night when he woke, he continued on his was as before.

36th of Fall 510

Keres had great difficulty sleeping because several groups of people passed by his resting place. Luckily, his hiding place was either good enough that they could not see him, or they were so self absorbed that they were not looking.

When night fell, he began to travel as he had been, but much more cautiously than before. He spent much more effort than he had been on being quiet as he moved. He began to see light from the windows of small cottages in the forest. As he went on, the forest thinned then finally gave way to fields, and as the sun rose on the 37th Day of Fall, Keres could see disordered buildings clustered in the distance.

Thou has written, and thou has completed, so I award thee the following....

Keres: +1 Spelunking, +2 Observation, +2 Running, +3 Wilderness Survival, +4 Stealth, +1 Tracking,

Lore: Waking Up in an Awkward Position, Recollection of a Horrific Night, Searching for Survivors, Greeted With Sights of Tragedy, Grieving and Pain for Dead Family, Proper Burial and Respect, Sleeping in Used Graves, Driven by Vengeance, Realization and Despair: “Oh Petch! How do I find the shykes responsible for killing my family?”, Regrets of Weakness, Fear of Standing on One’s Own, Realizing the Importance of Stealth, Distraction From Despair Through Training, Using the Road Less Traveled, Fear of Encounter, The Draining Effects of Cold Weather, Spotting Signs of Travel, Difficulties of Sleeping Near a Traveled Area: "Gods Damned Tourists!"

Additional Notes: In lands such as Mizahar, tragedy affects and shapes many lives. It’s interesting to see the other side of the coin. While most view many Zith, or even those who are only half Zith, as savage killers and slavers, many tend to forget that they have a strong sense of a tribal community(though admittedly, most of them are savage killers and slavers :P).

A little critiquing though. While I certainly understand how solo threads tend to be more difficult to write out than threading with another, next time try adding a little more description into your posts. Describe what your character sees as he travels, the place he sleeps in and how he found it, the shapes of the tracks he saw in the road, etc. A little more description will go a long way in earning you extra XP during the awarding process. With the amount of posts you had, you could have easily managed to top out in 5 XP for Wilderness Survival(as an example) had you described your search for shelter or smaller things like rubbing a couple of sticks together to build a campfire. Just a little food for thought.
