Home of the Konti people, this ivory city is built of native konti stone half in and half out of the sea. Its borders touch the Silverwood, and stretch upwards towards Silver Lake, home of the infamous konti vision water. [Lore]

An Average Day

The days were getting colder. Though there was no snow or ice yet, the air had a definite nip to it and the water was quite chilly. Still, Kes was determined to get just a little more swimming in. She set her cloak and outer dress in a neat pile next to her boots before strapping on her empty backpack. Sometimes she liked to collect things, and the backpack was handy to have when you needed your hands for swimming.

Looking around to make sure this area was as deserted as it seemed when she had found it, Kes secured her long blonde hair in it's braid then sprinted into the water wearing only her knee-length chemise.

She shrieked as the chilly water washed over her but dove into it. She kicked hard against the waves and kept moving to get used to the water temperature. Thick kelp leaves and small fish appeared before her in the water. It wasn't sunny today, so the depths were dark and it was difficult to properly see.

Kes began to let her fingertips graze the sand just beneath her as she kicked her way along the bottom of this stretch of ocean. She wasn't far out, perhaps a hundred yards or so. Maybe she would find some petrified wood, her mother always seemed amused when she gave it to her. Kes wasn't skilled enough in stone carving to do anything with it, but A'Korae was a fiend with a chisel.

Kes lost track of her thoughts, occupied with watching out for any danger and managing her direction. She didn't want to swim too far out, she might be able to breath underwater but that didn't mean she could survive in the middle of the ocean alone.

Kes's fingers glided over a rough object, she stopped and slowly turned, kicking a bit to stabilize herself in the shifting water. She gently felt the object she had found, careful in case it was something that might cut or sting her. It wasn't alive, her Gift would have told her if it was. She grabbed the edge and tugged, then braced her feet on the ocean floor and tugged again. With a cloud of mud and a slight sucking sound the object came free and Kes felt it over to see what it was.

Long and thick it almost felt like a tree branch, but it was too perfectly round to be that, it was slightly narrower on one end but overall was about the thickness of her calf. There was a hole that went all the way through it horizontally at the narrow end. That's when she realized, it had to be the end of some sort of throwing line. Maybe a buoy? The wood wasn't rotted though it did have a bit of slime on it from various forms of algae. It must have been treated, she wondered if the ship was anywhere nearby of if this bit had just fallen off.

In any case, she was chilly, she didn't really mind but she didn't want to tempt fate and get too cold. It took forever to warm up afterward, she might be amphibious but she loved being cozy.

Kes tucked the wood into her pack and secured it before swimming back to shore. She couldn't wait to get home and start brainstorming what to carve this piece into.
