Sunset Falls Evening

Beodan blinked. Once. Twice. A third time. The black tendrils of loneliness that had gripped him were retreating from his body, going to sleep for now. His eyes could see, but his mind had just started to come back to reality, and the sight before him shocked him. The Divine Wolf was on her knees, a hand clutching at her stomach, Skae standing over her. The strange woman’s left fist was descending rapidly towards Nikia’s head, and he gasped, willing her to do something.

His breath released in a relieved sigh when she caught the arm and pulled Skae off balance, the wolf quickly swinging another fist. They both looked dangerous, but in an animalistic way. Less practiced maneuvers, and more raw instinct driving the fight. He was not one for fighting, would not hurt a fly… Well that was a bad example (he regularly pummeled flies off of his rear with powerful jerks of his tail), but for the most part, he was a pacifist. What were they even fighting over? He could not begin to guess. The falls maybe? No point in taking shots in the dark while the fight was actually occurring. Dan did not know what to do. He could attempt to break it up somehow, but he did not have any skills with which to defend himself. Unless they let him feed them some particular herbs and wait a little while, then they would be sorry! Artificial headaches coming up!

That was not realistic though. Beodan’s brow furrowed, and he let out an anxious snort. He did not like this one bit! Especially since he felt so useless sitting off to the side. He focused his gaze back on Nikia, whose arm was still covering her abdomen. He smiled as she sweared at her opponent, but hoped she would not let her guard down. Trapped in indecision, he continued to watch.

OOCRight at first blood, Beodan is joining the fray! That is when he will begin to comprehend how serious this is.

Sunset Falls Evening

Postby Verinskae on July 25th, 2015, 8:08 pm

A sharp pain shot up through her lower jaw as the Kelvic’s fist made contact. The impact of the punch caused Skae to bite down hard on her tongue, the blood washed over her taste buds, giving them an iron tang. Quick, the wolf certainly was, and packed more of a punch than Skae had originally given credit for. But lacks experience… she confirmed to herself. The young female should have been pressing the advance, instead she had hesitated and drew herself back into a defensive posture. A mistake she would learn the hard way.

The Dhani spat a glob of blood on to the grass below and readied herself for the next attack. She could see the male Kelvic in the corner of her eye, he appeared still as stone, tense from what was unraveling before him. At least he’s not in the way… She mused. The two animals circled one another for some time, waiting for their opponent to open a gap. Then she saw it, a slight change in stance, but it was enough. Skae took the opportunity and charged, ramming her shoulder into the Kelvic and slamming her down hard on to the ground, so hard in fact that a spurt of blood escaped from the wolf’s lips and on to the side of Skae’s face. She had the wolf pinned to the ground now, gripping her wrists and restraining her arms up above her head.

Skae’s cold eyes bored into the Kelvic’s, her tongue lolled out and licked the blood from the side of her own cheek. Victory tastes sweet indeed… She felt a sharp pain in her ribs. Her opponent had some how managed to squirm out from underneath, delivering a powerful knee strike to the Dhani’s side. Recovering quickly, Skae thrust her arms underneath the she-wolf and pulled her tight to her own chest. They began rolling around in the dirt and leaves, trading blows back and forth, their faces already a bloody mess. Once their tumbling had come to a halt Skae wrapped her arms and legs around the Kelvic’s torso and began to squeeze. Unseen muscles rippled over her back and shoulders. A few moments of constriction and her opponent would certainly fall unconscious.

Sunset Falls Evening

Postby Nikia on July 26th, 2015, 1:11 am

Nikia didn't like to fight unless she had to. She also wasn't impulsive as some people were either. When she saw Skaw hit the ground, Nikia drew back. She wanted to check an Dan, but didn't want to turn her back on the women. All Nikia did was wait and hoped she didn't want to continue the fight after the blow to her face. The wolfs eyes focused on Skae. Resting on her actions. Nikia still holding her abdomen, but not near as much pain as it was. The kelvic stood watching Skae as she spat up blood. Nikia had proven her point. Adrenaline still continued throughout her body, but some of her anger slipped away. She was just happy that the women wasn't near Dan anymore.

By this time, the moon had started to set, welcoming the sun. It was just before dawn and the silence of the forest grew non existent. Small animals begun to come out from a long nights rest. Birds began to chirp, letting the others know that it was time for the day to start. The forest had begun to come alive once again. It was nice, for the few seconds Nikia for to enjoy it, before she felt Skae's body ram into her. Tackling the wolf to the ground and began wrestling. Letting smalls amounts of blood escape her mouth.

The young kelvic found herself beneath Skae's grasp. Her hands above her head with the women straddling her. Nikia saw the look in her eyes when she let out her tongue. Escaping her lips with the smoothest move. The wolf tried to escape the women's grasp, but Skae had her pinned. All she could do was turn her head, close her eyes, and clench her teeth together as she felt the females tongue glide up the side of her face cleaning the exposed blood. Focus, Nikia! You can get out of this! She thought as calmly as she could. Then it hit her! Nikia managed to squirm her way out from Skae's grasp and impaled the women's rib cage. Giving her a chance to get some distance between the two of them. But, it didn't work for long.

Nikia had begun to lose her breath and became a little sloppy. Her and the female rolled and tossed each other a few kicks and punches whenever that got the chance. But, the women snakes her hand on Nikia's right ankle and dragged her close. She found herself caught in Skae's grip, once again. But this time was different. The snake had her arms and legs wrapped around the wolf's torso. She tries her best to escape, but there was no luck. She struggled as tried to find a way out. Nikia could feel the women's strength growing tighter and tighter. Making it hard for her to breath. She then let out a cry of pain as she started to slowly lose consciousness. The only thing nikia remembered seeing was Dan. Then everything went black.

Sunset Falls Evening

Postby Beodan Clathony on July 26th, 2015, 2:27 am

Beodan’s eyes grew wide as a small amount of blood was ejected from Nikia’s mouth. Both of them had wounds now. His brow furrowed as the two combatants rolled around in a dirty wrestling match, twigs sticking into their hair. What to do? And why had his friend not quite playing around and ripped out her throat with a quick flash of teeth? He shook his head quickly, that had been a dark thought. Though it still begged the question why she had not shifted yet. They seemed to have reached an impasse, they stopped moving as much. Though he soon realized it was because the fight was nearly over.

Skae had gained the upper hand and was now squeezing the Kelvic’s torso with her arms and legs, in some kind of deadly hug. It almost would have been sweet had Nikia’s eyes not started to glaze over. She let out a soft cry of pain, one that broke down whatever inhibitions he held against joining in. He started forward as a man, and with a flash of light continued his advance as a horse. He did not have any experience with any human ways of fighting, but any respectable horse knew how to clobber somebody with a hoof. Now at their side, he brought up his left leg and propelled the hard bottom into the side of the strange woman’s head, a blow that would make a practice boxer wolf whistle. She had been firmly attached to his now limp friend, making for a stationary, and therefore easy target. Though, he was not sure it had been hard enough to knock her out. He had not reared up beforehand, so his weight was not in it.

One way or another, Skae was now off of Nikia. Though a thought gripped him, she could have just flung herself off as a dodge to minimize the impact. He was not sure really, not having the experience or medical knowledge to tell the difference. So he stared at the woman’s form, hooves at the ready in case she moved from her position. Blood had started to cake the earth, staining the beautiful oasis in the woods as the sun started to bathe the sky in lightening shades of blue.

OOC :
@Skae: I left it pretty open if you are conscious after the hit, or dodge it. Though get ready for more hooves! Tell me if what I wrote is unrealistic and I will change it :) Feel free to continue combat if you wish!
Else, if both of you are knocked out, just post “*unconscious*” in your next post to skip it and the Horse Herbalist will wake you up in my next post so we can get back to it!

Sunset Falls Evening

Skae needn’t look at the Kelvic’s face, her limp muscles and lack of struggling were enough to tell her the wolf had fallen unconscious. The Dhani frowned, mildly disappointed. She had been expecting to see a flash of fangs at the very least. She could have easily killed her victim in this state, slight pressure to the spine or a quick twist of the limp head was all it would take. Fortunately for the she-wolf, Skae had a slither of honor. She had chosen to fight until the end, no matter how meager it may have been. Thoughts of the Myrian pits flickered through her mind, the countless times they had forced her to fight against impossible odds in their arenas. She shuddered at the memory.

The Dhani slowly released her grip on the Kelvic, her limp body looked almost peaceful, sprawled on top of Skae. There was a bright light followed by the sound of pounding hooves. The other one?.. It didn’t sound like he was fleeing, it sounded as if he were getting closer. She attempted to turn her head to see. There was a sickening crack followed by a flare of pain. Her world spiraled from reality, everything faded to black.

*Unconscious*

Sunset Falls Evening

Postby Beodan Clathony on July 26th, 2015, 4:42 pm

Beodan stared at Skae for half a chime. Seeing no movement, he closed the gap between them at a walk. He bent his head down and licked her face. Returning the favor, and to make sure she was well and truly unconscious. Seeing that she was, he relaxed somewhat, though still nervous about having to unconscious people to take care of. The woman was bleeding from a curved wound given by the front of his hoof, slowly oozing out onto her face and hair. He needed his pack. It was not to far, a 5 chime trot through the forest. He set off with haste.

He donned his pack, shifted into human form, and then began to jog back, stopping here and there to pick up common healing herbs from the forest floor. The journey back took three times as long, due to lesser speed and the delay of digging up bitter roots from a thistle. He filled his water skin from in the pool below the falls. He did not have access to hot water or any cooking pots, so he would have to make do with the less prefered cool water. Wild Vyfox leaves he ripped with his fingers, tearing them in half, and half again until he was left with a damp mass of wounded green. He wrapped the pitiful pile of leaves in a cloth from his bag, then poured a small amount of water on it, creating a very basic poultice. The cloth was beginning become a light green as the plant stained its surface.

The Horse Kelvic examined Nikia first, turning her over. Only a few scrapes caused by rolling around on the hard ground, which he quickly clean of dirt, squeezing the cloth gently so a little of the anesthetic properties of Vyfox would apply to the wound. But he had seen blood somewhere! Not quite sure, he washed a clump of hand crushed petals down her throat, tilting her head back gently so she could swallow. That should cover everything. He was an herbalist, not a surgeon. He turned back to the strangely strong woman. He squirted water at the wound on her head, a little angry that she had caused so much trouble, to wash off the matting blood. But, as he had done for Nikia, he cleaned the wound and applied some of the Vyfox poultice to the wound, regardless of any emotion towards her.

Now for the part he had been dreading. Bitter root was just that, extremely bitter. The most foul tasting thing you could imagine, plus bitterness. He had eaten it once as a young colt, and never had done so again. Its horrible taste is why it worked for rousing the unconscious, the body freaked out and woke up, thinking it was being poisoned. But the only harm was a bad after taste that would last all day and make other foods taste sweet in comparison, if you could taste them at all. Unfortunately for the horse, he had to chew it, thoroughly, in order to have them take it. He held the despicable grey root in his hand, willing it to disappear. Giving it one last withering look, he closed his eyes in a premature wince and shoved it in his mouth, chewing it swiftly and with purpose. If his tongue had the choice of leaving his body, it would have done so, his face contorted into a tight grimace as he chewed. Soon, but not soon enough for his liking, it was a pulp. He approached Nikia, still chewing, opened her mouth, and ejected half of it onto the back of her tongue. He brought his head back, and worked her jaw in a chewing like motion. She would rise quickly. He did the same for Skae, wallowing in self pity for his torment. As soon as the job was done he spat repeatedly at the ground, futilely attempting to wash the taste out with water between fits of spitting. A small part of his mind would have liked to let them stay unconscious for the day, if it meant not eating that blasted root. Well, at least he had not swallowed it. He looked at the pair of victims with sympathy.

Sunset Falls Evening

Postby Verinskae on July 26th, 2015, 11:58 pm

Skae shielded her eyes from the harsh sunlight as the heavy door of the cage raised with a creak. She took a few steps forward, her bare feet touching the warm earth below. A steady beating emanated from around her, men and women thumping their spears noisily against their shields. Shouts and screams in Myrian filled her ears, some words she understood, most she did not. Three Myrians jumped into the circle from the surrounding crowd. The general tone of the audience changed from angry curses to hoots, cheers and praise. It was clear who the favoured fighters were.

Skae assessed her opponents. Three sturdily built males, tribal tattoos marked their bodies from head to toe. One held a large spear, the other two held nets and some sort of small, curved blade. She peered down at her own hands. Bare, just the way she liked it. The three fighters were closing in now, they knew the consequences of giving a Dhani time to prepare. Skae planted her feet firmly in the ground, her gaze darted from left to right at her opponents. The one with the spear was first to charge, a blood curdling scream escaping from his lungs, like some sort of wild beast in it’s last stand. Skae twisted her abdomen, her elbow thrusting deep into…

...Her eyes began to open, her world slowly coming to. It was dark, had it been this dark when… When what?... She shot up from the ground so fast that her back slammed heavily against a tree. Her panicked eyes wearily scanned their surroundings. Then it came, a taste so foul it could make the gods themselves hurl from the skies. She started to hack, cough and spit. What is this foul taste that stains the tongue!?... She thought in disdain. It took all of her willpower not to throw up the contents of her stomach. Skae took in a deep breath and attempted to compose herself. It was no good, the foulness on her amplified sense of taste had enveloped her mind.

The Dhani gazed up from her seated position at the base of a tree, looking for someone or something to blame. Her vengeful eyes fell upon the horse Kelvic. “Wha-...what have you done to me?...” She hissed scornfully. Memory returned in a blur, she fixated her gaze on the wolf, she was beginning to stir. Skae was confused, things had not turned out the way she had planned. It seemed now was a good time to escape and recollect her thoughts. She pulled herself up from the ground and returned her watchful gaze upon the male. Skae stood there, silently for a while, staring into his dark eyes. She looked at him now with a different sort of hunger. Something tugged at her chest, it was painful, sorrowful. Feelings she hadn’t experience in a long time. The Dhani strode slowly backwards into the thick of the woods, her eyes never leaving the Kelvic’s, until she was enveloped in darkness and visible no more. She had a feeling she would be meeting these two again.

Sunset Falls Evening

Postby Nikia on July 30th, 2015, 7:42 am

Everything was black. Empty. Nikia couldn't figure our where she was. There she stood, deep within a dark place. No soul was around and no sounds were carried out. The kelvic was lost, deep in her subconscious. She looked around to see what exactly was going on, but all she could see was an empty abyss. Fear started to make its way throughout Nikia's body. She sat on the hollow floor, shaking, holding her knees close to her chest. Then it came. A small light in the distance. The wolf peaked her head and narrowed her eyes, but it wasn't enough to catch the slightest glimpse. Curiously, Nikia slowly stood up and began walking towards it. The more she was closing in, the more she could see. Sounds began to echo, making its presence known.

How is this possible? Questioningly, she thought as if she was going to receive the answer. Before her eyes, was the happiest memory she had with her parents. Nikia saw herself with her mother and father. "What is this?" She asked herself, unsure of what to make of the situation. She found herself, deep, within the forest. A place she went with her parents often. Nikia stood, silently, watching her younger self, as a pup, playing with her father while her mother sat and watched. Everyone looked happy and content with their life. The only day Nikia had seen her parents truly happy. Tears began to form in her eyes as she continued to watch her memory. The only time she would see her parents again.

The kelvic tried to call out to her mother, in hopes that she'd hear her, but not a sound was coming from Nikia's lips. She kept trying and trying to call out to them, but it was no use. She fell to her knees with her head hanging inches about the ground, crying. "Why can't you hear me, mother?" Nikia asked. Then continued, "It's been so hard without you." She paused, catching her breath. "Why did you have to leave me? I needed you!" Nikia added as she cried harder at the floor. She lifted her head only to see that her memory had disappeared..

Nikia shot up from the ground with her stomach trying to catch up. Her eyes widened, scared, from what seemed to be a flashback. Everything seemed blurry. Seconds later, her world started to come back. Along with a horrid taste in her mouth. Nikia quickly turned over, facing the ground on her hands and knees, hacking and coughing. She kept spitting, hoping the taste would fade. It took everything she had not to puke. What is this? She thought in disdain. Once Nikia had a second to catch her breath, she looked up and saw Skae huddled by a tree in front her. As much as the wolf wanted to finish what Skae had started, she couldn't. Nikia felt sick and dizzy. She didn't have enough energy to stand. Let alone finish a fight she wasn't capable of doing.

The kelvic diverted her attention to Dan. She was pleased to find him safe and alright. But, had questions for him. For starters, what had to her and Skae. The last thing she remembered was seeing Dan on the ground. Interrupted from her thoughts, Nikia began hacking and coughing again. She did not have the stomach for this taste. Especially, in the condition she was in. After a few short minutes, Nikia was able to catch her breath. The kelvic looked up once more, but to see that Dan was standing alone. Where did she go? The wolf thought, curiously.

Sunset Falls Evening

Postby Beodan Clathony on July 30th, 2015, 5:25 pm

Beodan was crouched between his two patients, watching over them to make sure they would wake up properly, and not vomit before they did so. Skae’s brow was furrowed, as if she was concentrating really hard on something. He put a hand to her forehead, then felt his own. She did not feel like she had a fever, many peoples’ faces contorted while they slept with a high temperature. He shrugged and let her be. She would wake soon enough anyway. Nikia had a tear escaping from one eye. He dabbed at it with his thumb, not wanting it to be on her face when she woke. They must be having interesting dreams, he thought.

Wouldn’t be long now.

Skae woke a half-chime before Nikia, shooting up from her position on the floor to sit flushed against a nearby tree with a dull thud. She spat and coughed, almost throwing up. He allowed himself one smirk to enjoy her suffering for the pain she had caused, but only a moment of it, he did not bare her ill will anymore. The strange woman took a large gasp of breath and looked around, her eyes narrowing on him. “Wha-...what have you done to me?...” she hissed ungratefully, still unaware of what he had done. Not that he minded, thank yous embarrassed him. He would much prefer she discover her wounds had been treated much later, and he would know he put his love of plants to good use.

Ignoring her question, Beodan said calmly, “You’re welcome. I’m sorry about the taste.” That hopefully would give her pause, and make her think about her aggression. Skae got to her feet, and locked eyes with him. He held her gaze until she had disappeared into the trees. He wondered if they would meet again. If they met under less hostile settings, he might actually enjoy it. Her form vanished, and he smiled to himself, she was interesting indeed.

The Wolf Kelvic rose in a similar manner to Skae, sitting up quickly then attempting to cough and spit their lungs out, or at least that is what it sounded like to Dan. She looked up at him dizzily, on her hands and knees, then resumed her attempts to clear the taste from her body. Unfortunately, it would not go away for the rest of the day unless they ate or drank something equally strong. The clear alcohol maybe? When she stopped, he went over where she knelt on the floor and helped her to her feet, a hand taking each of hers. Seeing her curious glance to where Skae had been standing only moments ago, he preemptively answered, “She woke up a little before you and left. Probably too woozy to continue the fight.”
