Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

(Training) A Quality Day Of Work

David Arnim gave a stretch as he got on out of bed and yawned himself awake with a few blinks to boot. Walking over to the window he rubbed his eyes awake as he looked to see what time of day it was. Looked like early morning for sure so he had some time to get some exercises in and what not before work. Today Haiduk has instructed him to use the mold technique to make some war hammer heads. It was simple or so one would say but ever bit of experience did help in his mind. So with a smile David went ahead and grabbed some dried meat from his rations and ate before washing it down with some water. Having had his light breakfast David got himself warmed up and loosened himself up with some stretches. One leg at a time he stretched his legs out as he got ready for his daily exercises. One thing he liked about the exercises was they made him nice and alert early on.

Having done his stretches David looked to the ceiling beam above and walked right under it. Hopping up he grabbed hold after two tries and began to do his standard pullups. With some effort on each one he brought himself up and then let himself down a little to quickly. David made sure to count each time he went up and then down. Not only that but he made sure he brought his chin above the ceiling beam. Sometimes he lightly bumped his head a little against the ceiling. He could feel his heart rate rising as he kept going and he felt his arms growing further and further tired.

After a bit and he had decided he had done enough by tiring his arms out for the moment he let himself down before he began to drink some water and catch his breath.

After having done the pull ups and caught his breath David got ready for his next set of exercises. Getting into position David began to do squats. His pacing wasn't the best as he went a bit to quickly and his stance was a bit off. However he did make sure to count each time he did a squat. David soon began to feel the burn as he kept on squatting. He would stop after having done it a little to much due to his fast pace. Certainly that was one thing David would need to improve upon.

After that David caught his breath again for a few moments and drank some water before going ahead and getting into another position. He made sure to move himself away from the ceiling beam for when he began to do jumping jacks.

Having gotten into position David began to do jumping jacks going up and down in the air as he did each one. His positioning wasn't the best with his arms and legs and he paused every now and again. But he kept going making sure to count each time his hands came together. With the blood pumping e stopped doing the jumping jacks for a bit so that he could get his breather in and get ready for the next set of exercises.

Standing there he got his waterskin and took a drink after having caught his breath a bit. With a stretch he sat the waterskin aside before sitting down on the floor and then to his back.

Tucking is legs in a little David began to do sit ups using his abdominal muscles to bring himself up and down. Having placed his hands behind his head he struggled a little more each time he went up. He would also let himself down to quickly as well sometimes. Every time he managed to bring himself up he would count that. After having down enough sit ups he would catch his breath, drink some water, and then flip himself over for some pushups.

Using his arms he began to pump himself up and down counting each time he brought himself up and down. It was a bit tough bringing himself up and again a bit quick on the way down. That was one major thing he needed to learn when exercising, that being control.

After having finished up with the push ups and caught his breath David would get up. Walking over to his personel mirror he would clean himself for the day ahead with some scrubbing here and there and a nice clean shave and a comb of the hair. After that he would get dressed and equip himself for work.

Having gotten himself together David would depart his cottage home and begin a controlled jogging to the Arma'Drex Smithy. He was sure not to run into anyone as he went down the main road sidewalk. On the way he would pass by the Wysar's Tower, City Council Building, Fresh Start Resort, and the School of Earth & Life Sciences.

Entering the Arma'Drex Smithy David would make his way through the entrance way and to the left antechamber. With Haiduk dealing with a customer he gave him a nod and went behind the counter and then trough the tunnel which of course leads to the shop where all the forge work is done. Once in the workshop David would walk over and collect some leather gloves for protection. Having gotten the gloves he would gather the necessary supplies he needed in order to practice today. The supplies being two boxes, casting sand, tongs, a flat wood stick, metal tube, and a war hammer head.

With these supplies he set up shop at a work table. Taking the first box which had a closed bottom he sat it in the center of the table. Soon David began to put casting sand in it using his hands. Every layer or so he would press it down with the stick or his hands to make it nice and compact. However he had to take extra care so that no mistakes happened so he gave a few extra pats for luck. Once he had filled it to the top he would use the stick to flatten the sticky dakr sand out and scrape away any excess sand. Swiping away extra sand he also did with his hands. After that David would grab the warhammer head and press it neatly into the sand with some extra force. David would then pat the sand around it and scraped away excess sand all to ensure a good fit and a good mold. However it was not perfect, but this was a war hammer not a fancy sword.

Having put the warhammer head in David grabbed the open bottom pox and placed it on top. Once there he pinned the two boxes together using the tabs that jutted out. Having locked the two halves together David placed the metal tube inside on top of the hammer head. One thing he had made sure to do was shove some sand in the hole where the handle goes later. So having balanced the metal tube inside wit some effort David began to put more sand into the box.

Again he patted the sand down with both his hands and the stick. Making to press decently hard again the metal tube as to make a good form fit. Once this half of the box had been filled with sand David smoothed off the top using the flat stick and his hands.

Waiting a few minutes David carefully removed the metal tube from the sand leaving a nice clean hole down the center. David would then carefully and slowly with a little shake in his hands unpin the two boxes. David then slowly separated them and sat them aside. David would then remove the warhammer head leaving a decent mold. After a moment he carved out an a excess flow channel.

With that he very carefully put the two halves of the boxes back together and then carefully pinned them there. With the two halves locked together he looked to the forge.

Walking over with the tongs he grabbed a melting furnace and a iron ingot. Placing the ingot inside the melting furnace he then placed both inside the forge with the tongs. Once inside David went over to the bellows and started the forge up. Pumping the bellows he watched as the iron inside the furnace began to heat up. This process would take some time and a lot of effort to super heat it enough to bring the iron to melting point.

After a lot of pumps from the bellows and a lot of waiting David would notice that the iron was ready and melted. So unmanning the bellows he walked over grabbed the tongs and then grabbed the hot furnace with the tongs. Carefully he walked the molten iron in the furnace over to the mold he had created. Once at the work table he gently began to pour the iron down the hold and into the mold. After he had finished pouring the iron he brought the furnace and tongs back to the froge and put them away. Walking back over to the mold he had made he waited for it to cool down.

After a few moments of waiting David wondered why exactly he was doing this in cast iron. Shouldn't somthing like this be forged with a hammer? Examining the hammer head he had used for the mold he determined it to be forged, well he thought that at least. Obviously this was to teach basic blacksmithing techniques to go along with weapon smithing. He would probably be shown how to normally make hammers in the forged sense very soon. Well he hoped it would be soon anyways.

After a bit David was convinced the hammerhead was ready to come out so he began to unpin the two boxes from one another. Removing the pins from the tabs David tapped the sides of the boxes. Tapping some more he tilted and then separated the boxes and began to remove the steamy hot sand. With a pick he got out the cooled off warhammer head and began to clean it off of all the sand.

Picking at it for a bit he eventually went to a water bucket and began dunking it until it was cleaned off.
