Art surrounded her.
She breathed it in and exhaled it out.
For Anouk, this place was something close to paradise, though the Konti felt pangs of jealousy and envy wherever she looked. It was all so gorgeous, so beautiful. The paintings around her were nothing like she had seen before -- and there had been some incredibly talents artists in Mura and Zeltiva.
But nothing like this.
The masterpiece she stood of now captured an image of the world below the sea. The sunlight fell down onto the sand in solid, diagonal beams, and highlighted the tiny microscopic beings of the ocean that Anouk had never paid much attention to before now. In one corner was a patch of seaweed or kelp. This was the only focus of the painting, beyond the stretch of distance itself. Though she stood in an art gallery, Anouk was suddenly taken back into the very depth of the ocean.
She closed her eyes, inhaling deeply. The image was burned into the back of her mind. Even in the darkness behind her eyelids, Anouk could practically see the painting as if it still stood before her.
