Use of pictures and copyright

Ok, so I found a picture on DevArt that I want to put in a post. Assuming I ask the creator and get their permission to put it up, would I be allowed? Obviously, I would give them credit in the post as well.

Avatars follow the same regulations as any material posted on the site, namely that you either made the art yourself or you have the right to post it - meaning that the author gave you permission, you found it in the public domain or it can be justified as "fair use" (avatars from movie shots fall under the last clause, for example).
