This next instruction, read through once, appeared much more difficult. It was easy to differentiate between the male and female bats but the presence of testicles, once it'd been explained to her. However, she was determined to do this one without his help. Gritting her teeth she dug into the steps, first placing the small furry glass-eyed creature on its back.
Next she stared at the stomach blankly. How long? she wondered, As long as the other cut? she guessed, creating a small cut above the vagina. The rest of the instructions are pretty....unhelpful...what ligaments? What is the uterus? There should really be diagrams... She grumped irritably.
"Having trouble?" The chuckle and dancing eyes on anyone else would have come across as playful teasing, but on Hinlitt's face it was a scathing comment on her skill. A silent, You aren't good enough... Ayszel would have hissed at him had she had her forked tongue to wiggle threateningly. As it stood, she had nothing but her brawn, which compared to her other forms felt meek and unwieldy.
"No. Thank you." She muttered, waving him off. He shrugged expressively, snickering as he left the vicinity. Ayszel gazed at the pile of notebooks and scrap paper before her with a thin frown. There has to be something in all this...a drawing of the anatomy or something I can use. Even a drawing of the uterus would help me guess what I'm looking for. She thought as she grabbed the top sheaf and placed it before her, beginning to thumb through the many pages of tiny cramped researcher handwriting.
