Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

It's about that time of the year when it seemed like every woman in the city of Riverfall was pregnant which in turn meant more work for Natalia. It was a cycle that happened every year - the warm weather of spring and summer sought to rekindle a couple's inner fire and in result, pregnancies were a commonplace. It took a while for the women to discover that they were in fact carrying a child, so by the winter things were in full swing. Despite the cold and dreary weather, there was much excitement in the air for expecting mothers.

It seemed like Natalia was making three or four house calls a day throughout the season which was slightly overbearing. During the day she wasn't necessarily getting physically exhausted, but rather mentally. It is a big load, although only temporary. The days seemed to go by much faster, giving her no time to revel in her Ethaefal form. The days she was allowed to commit to worship of her Goddess were scarce and consequently made her much weaker than usual. She knew this was a self-destructing tendency, but couldn't help it. Her call for the expecting mothers was much stronger than her own needs.

The time she spent outside was cherished, even in situations like now where it was bitterly cold outside. Still, the sky was clear and filled with Syna's light. Natalia lifted her face to the sun and took a deep breath in. She was renewed in the energy of her Goddess for the time being.

The sun helped make her shopping endeavors a little less of an annoyance. She had arrived at the local bazaar in search of leftover herbs from the spring's bloom. She knew there may not be much left, but it was worth a try. Natalia's own personal reservoir of tonics and creams were running dangerously low. She had neglected to make her own in the seasons past when she should've been preparing for the winter house calls. Nevertheless she decided to give the Zhongjie Warren a go.

She first tried to find Midwifes Miracle which she was sure they would have. It was always an overly abundant herb to identify and not very hard to harvest. Sure enough, as Natalia was browsing the merchant's wares, it was there. She bought in bulk seeing as this is the herb she used the most. In addition she acquired Tolm, a herb to aid in relaxation, Telaviv, and bought out the last of the merchant's Gigar. There wasn't enough for the season, but she figured she could convince the medical center to lend her a couple of ounces. It all would do until it was spring once more and she could go and harvest for herself.

Just about when she was handing over the money for her herbs, she could hear a commotion happening on the other side of the bazaar. As she focused her eyes she could see a little crowd gathering around something in the middle of them. Her eyes crinkled in confusion and her interest was sparked. Suddenly a desperate cry of "Help!" was screamed from a foreign woman's mouth. It seemed there was trouble and Natalia felt obligated as a nurse to answer the plea.

Natalia swiftly came to aid. Assessing the incident she found an older women laying face down on the cold stone, a pool of blood accumulating beside her head. "Is there anyone that saw the woman go down?" she asked, directing her question towards the small crowd.

"I did!" said a pregnant Konti woman, raising her hand. She came forward to tell the rest of her story. "She was clutching at her chest before she fell. She looked panicked, and then just collapsed! I don't know what happened!" The pregnant woman seemed distraught, so Natalia told her not to worry and instructed two other men who were in the mix to send her away. No sense in putting unnecessary distress on a baby.

Natalia stooped down to her knees and carefully rolled the injured women over. There was a deep gash right in the middle of her forehead and her nose looked broken. The blood was coming from the cut and didn't look too bad. It could be easily fixed, but the more imminent problem was why the woman passed out in the first place. Nat lifted the head to ensure a clear path to the airways and put her ear above the women's mouth. As she carefully listened for breathing she found it was there, but shallow. She checked for the pulse and found the same thing - a weak and failing heart. "This woman has most likely suffered a small attack of the heart. She needs treatment immediately. Is there anyone who can help me tend to this woman? Anyone at all?"

The Zhongjie Warren

The bazaar was filled today, and the tall Myrian held her jacket close, eyeing wares as she passed them. The activity and chattering almost reminded her of her home city of Taloba, but the weather and strange sounds of common ruined the nostalgia for her. She idly passed a few stalls, fingering the goods every once in awhile, but nothing spoke to her. She needed to watch her finances, anyhow. After purchasing her new winter clothes, Kiva was weary about the idea of spending more and started to weave though the crowd.

"There is nothing here for me," she muttered, shaking her head when an Akalak seller tried to engage her smelling perfumes. She waved him away, about to snap and tell him to not be so persistent when a cry for help rang out. It was close. Kiva turned just in time to watch an elderly woman collapse to the ground and like a moth drawn to a flame, she moved to the forming circle around the injured.

What was this? A disease? A fever? There were no visible marks of injury, other than the fall, no puncture from a weapon. Poison? Pushing through the other side of the crowd, there was a women like none Kiva had ever seen. A woman with golden hair and... and... 'Horns?' Kiva's eyes widened, surprised by the Eth and not the injured. Whatever this creature was, it spoke common and began to lean towards the woman's heart.

Kiva still stood in shock. She had never seen someone like this before. Were there others? Did Myri know of such beings? The horned woman assessed the injury as a attack of the heart and asked for aid. Kiva saw an Akalak man ready to offer aid, but she quickly spoke up.

"I will." Stepping forward, Kiva crouched on the other side of the medicine woman, reaching out to take the victim before anyone else. Scooping her arms under the woman's knees and back, she quickly cradled her and stood, surprised at how fragile and light she was. In comparison to having to carry a fallen Myrian through thick jungle terrain, Kiva expected this to be much easier.

"There are too many people here," Kiva looked the horned woman in the eyes, "Where do you need us to go?" While the Myrian had tendencies to be a good Samaritan, she'd be lying if she said that was her only goal. She wanted to learn more about what and who this girl was, and if it meant playing nice, then so be it.
