It's a scary thing to consider; one's legacy. What do people think of me? How do others see me? Am I a welcomed sight in the eyes of world? Does anyone even pay attention?

Azmere does not know who he is. He does not know his own name let alone the hopes and dreams or fears and failures that shape most people. He has inclinations towards certain skills and the man is drawn to certain things but he does not know why. He is hollow.

Being empty breeds a particular type of person. A man lets the world come to him and deals with only what's in front of him. Over time, that piece of ground where he plants his boots becomes sacred and the only thing he covets. The world is seldom kind and thus its constant battering of the man make him vicious and territorial. Like a lion, he defends the only thing he understands.

ImageThe years have changed Azmere a great deal. He was marred as a child with scars on his neck and face. Several battles have also left their mark on the man creating even more noticeable scars and leaving him to walk with a slight limp. His once black hair is now kissed with an ashen color around his temples that is also peppered throughout his short beard. The man's hair is something of a mess. Many of the braids that once held the locks out of his face have fallen out or were cut. Layers are chopped and uneven since life underground doesn't require much in the way of grooming. Born with blue eyes, the incident of his youth turned the left one to a golden color. As a young man, a dangerous vagrant in-bedded Azmere with Pathfinding. This caused rings of color to form bursting out from his pupils. The golden eye has a ring of cyan and purple radiating through the iris from the center while the blue eye has a rippling layer of red and green that emerge from it. These strange hues twinkle and softly shine when they are used to channel djed. Despite all of these things, Azmere is strong with solid features and noticeable muscle mass. He has tanned skin that is tough from a lifetime spent in the sun. Azmere's right arm is covered in windmarks that stretch from his wrist all the way up to his neck. Most of these are still very clean though some of the lines are starting to blur and fade with time. His hands are weathered and calloused but most important to note upon first impression is how steady the man stands- as if he's made of stone.

  • Right Wirst/Forearm - Hourglass & Dove: These are reminiscent of his first bonding with Hephiestian. As a young boy playing with a colt, the pair took their first ride and the sky opened up to reveal the gods' blessings upon this perfect union that lasted for two decades.
  • Right Side of Neck - Criss-crossing Lines: This is a artistic rendering of the inner structure of a pavilion wall. It represents the importance of structure in one's life as instilled in him by his grandfather.
  • Right Shoulder Half Sleeve - Burst of light with horse and rider leading winged warriors: Az defeated his older half brother in an honor proving. After this event, his grandfather believed him to be destined for leadership and glory.

Timeline :

Azmere's had a tough life. He was disfigured in a freak accident when he was twelve. Because he was the son of the Ankal's third wife, Azmere was sent to live with his grandfather's pavilion. The boy was raised on tales of Zulrav and Stormwardens while being taught to hunt and work. His new pavilion was big on making everybody contribute to the betterment of the group. At first, Azmere did not adhere to his new life. Teenage angst and feelings of rejection met in perfect discord with the arrival of a bad influence. Azmere strayed from his duties, became stagnant in his training and even went so far as to defy orders and tradition. This new friend eventually revealed himself to be selfish and betrayed Azmere altering the course of his life.

After this change of heart, Azmere feverishly took to the bow and spent much time honing his skills as well as working his way into the maintenance of the weapon and manufacturing of the ammunition. This was encouraged by his elders since the bow made an excellent weapon from the back of a Strider. Azmere was also instructed in the ways of Webbing by his Ankal. Through many trials and many mistakes, the boy slowly turned into a man with humble beginnings but with the salt for greatness.

Recent years have seen many changes and tragedies befall the horseclans. Azmere managed to join the Watch and began to build a reputation as a good soldier and honorable soul. He has made friends and also made some enemies but the Run beckons and the city moves. When the worst happens and Azmere is left alone, he feels a huge swell of responsibility to help those around him. After some time passes, his strider is taken from him which nearly breaks the archer's spirit. It might have been the end had he not met Yahal. The god, all but a story to Az at the time, instilled a deeper purpose to the life of the Drykas. He returned to the city and set about gathering the lost, broken and abandoned to his banner. From these scattered ashes, he hopes to build a great legacy.


::Post-Creation::


Fall 515 - As a young man, Azmere begins to push himself towards becoming a useful member of society and makes some friends along the way. Azmere learns shielding. *

Winter 515 - Raiders take the Drykas by surprise which is only possible through treachery. Azmere joins the Watch and encounters some very interesting people. He also receives a vision and pursues a peculiar assassin. *

Spring 516 - Azmere sets out to be a hero but learns the consequences* of arrogance. He spends the rest of the season trying to deal with his failure but ends up finding a path towards redemption.

Summer 516 - The lazy young man has suffered and finally shouldered the expectations of his family; his people. While progress is slow, there are small moments* that let Azmere know he's heading in the right direction.

Fall 516 - Zith attacks plague the horseclans and the Stormblood pavilion feels it. Azmere begins to stand out among his peers and the pavilion grows* under his leadership.

Winter 516 - In the face of loss, Azmere continues to tend the lost souls placed in his path in order to preserve the handful of people who have entrusted him with their lives. A strange encounter* reveals a deep-seeded fear for the Ankal.

Spring 517 - The life of being an Ankal starts to make sense to Azmere even though he's still reluctant and unsure of his abilities as a leader. There are trials and there are blessings but sometimes... life hands you both* at the same time.

Summer 517 - Azmere grows more confident in his skills and advances himself within the ranks of the Watch. The Ankal steps into the role of teacher* with a member of his pavilion.

Fall 517 - Azmere is reminded by the little things* of what's really important.

Winter 517, Spring 518 - Inactive:: To cover this time period of Azmere's writer being inactive, the following will have to suffice.

Azmere was riding in the Sea of Grass and fell into a sinkhole. He hit his head and lost consciousness. When he awoke to the Underwatch tending his wounds, he had no memory of who he was and so they believed his ailment to be a curse from the gods. The Underwatch exists as a way for unbonded Drykas to reclaim their honor through service and death. Azmere's strider died and his memories were gone. They enlisted him in the service of their people and that is where he stayed until the group he was with surfaced for a supply run. This is where Azmere's story continues.

Azmere has no memory and therefore has no existing relationships. NPCs have been kept on the list to maintain consistency with the OOC aspect of the game. Names and faces will be added as roleplay dictates. Azmere also owns several types of animals but they are in Endrykas with his pavilion as is the Drykas way. Azmere vanished while in the Sea of Grass. His family would have presumed him dead and taken responsibility for the creatures.

Grey was a spur of the moment decision. Azmere ended up in an altercation with Merevaika because he kicked one of her dogs (the sibling to Grey). That day turned into a successful clearing of a wolf pack. Upon their return, Azmere was greeted by the puppies and Grey promptly displayed an innate discipline that drew the Drykas to him. The bond between them was instantaneous.

When Azmere had his accident, the canine was with him and managed to survive the fall. The Drykas has no recollection of the animal but its absolute trust in the human has given him a spark of hope. He does not remember the dog's name so Azmere uses terms like 'dog', 'blue eyes', 'storm', etc.

Additional Info: Analia is Azmere's mother. She was taken during the pirate raid in Winter of 515. She's small and sweet and did her best to give Azmere all of the warmth and love that she could to balance the harsh tactics taught to Drykas boys. Amidst the brutal environment, weapons training and cold stares and stiff backhands that filled Azmere's childhood, Analia made sure he always knew that love was not just an emotion but a foundational block of a man's life. Her disappearance has left a big hole in Az's life.

There is no one Azmere respects more that this man and the example set forth is both a legend and mantle that Azmere aspires towards.

Heirloom
Vihar: ImageVihar means storm in some long forgotten dialect. Vihar is a long bow specifically designed for horseback and also belonged to Azmere's great-grandfather who was a Stormwarden. "A shadow hovered above her and strong arms cradled her head. Details filtered into the shadow like paint-strokes brushing across canvas. A man, his eyes striking in the dim, they glowed softly, azure and gold. 'Zul—rav?...'" ~Rufio~


Azmere once had a very strong set of beliefs. Like all Drykas, he had been raised to fear, love and respect the gods; primarily Zulrav, Semele and Caiyha. A member of his pavilion revered Yahal whom Azmere slowly grew to admire later in his life. A different member was one of the fallen, an Ethaefal of Leth, and the god's distance from his follower had begun to change the way the man felt about the gods in general. This is just a background on the man with dichromatic eyes.

With his memories stolen from him, Azmere now resides in a crisis of faith which is, perhaps, a more painful circumstance altogether. His comrades are all outcasts- those who could not make it in the world into which they were born. Surrounded by men who feel they have no worth short of dying for a higher cause, the former ankal has no core to fall back on; no spine of faith. Empty and weak, this defeatus attitude consumes him and digs a deeper whole each day as he's reminded that his lack of memory is likely the result of some transgression; a punishment for his crimes.

Azmere is lost. He is alone and he is content to reside in the cesspool of complacency where he has been placed. Sometimes, a blank slate is a good thing but not always. The man has no strong wind to drive him- no star to guide his path. Time will tell if the faithless can find something to believe in.
