Io Verita

Appearance

Race: Kelvic
Gender: Female
Age: 3 years (maturity of a human in their 20’s)
Birthday: Day 4, The Season of Spring, Year 513 AV
Birthplace: Lhavit

Appearance:
Feral Form

Species: Leucistic White-Tail Deer
Eyes: Pale Blue

Io was born with a mutation called Leucism, which causes part or major loss of pigmentation in an animals skin and eyes. It’s similar to albinism but does not always cause complete lack of pigment. While Io is paler than a typical white-tail deer, she still has a soft grey taint to her fur, which some accents of a very pale brown.

Human Form

Height: 5’1”
Weight: 110 lbs.
Body Type: Slender, petite
Hair: Pale, greyish brown, long and soft
Eyes: Pale blue, Iris taking up most of eye. Best described as “doe like”

Io has a very soft and gentle face, with an innocent and warm look to her eyes. While she is pale, she is not “pallid” per say. Her eyes still retain a stunning blue color and her cheeks are usually graced with a light blush. Like a deer, her legs are slender, but her body has a bit more to it, with more noticeable curves. She isn’t chubby or pudgy in the least, but she does have a shape. Along with such soft features, Io has very full lips, which you can usually find stained purple or red by the berries she so loves.

Character Concept
Few of my favorite things:
-Rain, the scent the way it feels, the calming pitter patter
-Woodland creatures, they’re always so odd and curious
-BERRIES. They’re so colorful
-Water, it’s fun to play in
Not so favorite things:
-Darkness, it’s unnerving.
-Dark magic, something’s just not quite right about it
-loud noises, there’s no need to yell you know.

Personality

Curious-Io has a fascination and a need to understand everything and everyone, particularly animals. She finds their behavior intriguing, and one will frequently find her stopping to pet and feed a stray dog or watching the birds. She doesn’t like to experiment on animals, but likes to observe, and being more of a hands-on type, touch everything she sees with those delicate little hands. (and sometimes a wet nose).

Short Attention Span- If what you’re doing isn’t of immediate interest to her, Io will wander. Her mind wanders while she is doing everything, which is why all her drawings and paintings usually are covered in smaller, completely unrelated doodles or notes, and all her poems tend to remain unfinished. She can hold a conversation just fine, and is rather articulate, but she does require the occasional wave to bring her back to Earth. Oddly enough, she could sit and observe something she admires for a long span of time, but only if it’s something she truly loves and admires.

OCD- Though “Obsessive Compulsive Disorder” isn’t an official illness in this world, Io has all the symptoms. Due to it being unidentified and a completely unknown condition she was often scolded and screamed at for trying to complete her rituals, and now only does them privately and to herself, unless she has a panic attack, in which she may attempt a ritual to soothe herself.

Anxious- Io is prone to severe panic attacks, which started soon after her abandonment. One will often find her bouncing her knee or chewing her nails, or tensing her fingers and scratching at her arms. She is on constant high alert, and rarely ever feels safe. She tends to be the most anxious when around large groups of people or crowded areas as they produce noise and she will often panic and shift at sudden, loud sounds. After being shamed for her insecurities and “oddness” she does her best to hide her fears and anxiety, but this has proven difficult, especially at night when her fear of the dark sets in.

Warm Hearted and Empathetic- Io is a sweet gal, she loves to help others, it’s what makes her happiest. As much as she despises socializing or being in crowded groups or areas, she does care about all creatures, human or not, and won’t stand to leave someone hurting, physically or emotionally. This is one reason she often finds herself in emotional turmoil, as the pains of others affect her deeply. She feels along with those around her, and because of this may seem frail, as she gets flustered by little things, but she is simply overwhelmed by all the emotions and thoughts in her head.

Character History

Io was born as a bastard child, and her mother died during childbirth. The elderly medicine woman who had been helping at her birth, named Ma’heono, took her in. Io grew to be fond of the woman, and during her young life, which only lasted a few months, there was a light bond there, that encouraged her to learn more about medicine and the ways of this strange elderly woman who seemed to defy all the norms of what she saw on their brief visits to the city. She took a liking to all the creatures of the forest, as Ma’heono always preached that all life has value, but she seemed to value one little mouse above all the rest. Max is a black field mouse that Io rescued from a cat, and healed with the help of Ma’heono. During Ma’heono’s time alive, Io took every opportunity to learn from her, and was always eager to help out with patients that came to the elderly medicine woman. Once she was mature enough, Ma’heono even allow Io to take care of some simple cases, and eventually trusted her as a skilled medicine woman herself. Around Io’s 1st birthday, Ma’heono passed away, leaving Io heartbroken and grief-stricken. For weeks she carried on like that, and to this day the memories of the kind old woman remain with her and bring a bitter-sweet pang with them. Fortunately, Io had only formed a light bond with Ma’heono, and so was able to recover from this loss. She still uses the campsite as her home, and takes Ma’heono’s old mixed-blood horse into the city and travelling when the mood strikes her, and is always accompanied by Max. Now a days one will find Io either wandering or at camp, nibbling on berries and smearing them on herself and parchment.

Housing

Location: Lhavit, usually nearby

House:

Because of her comfort in the wilderness, Io is usually alright just settling in under her tent, and has little desire for a restricting human home where there is no where for her to wander, and no fresh air. Her tent is covered with papers that are filled with doodles that would likely come out as masterpieces if she had the patience to finish them. Amongst the few clothes she has, Io’s tent also has trinkets laying about, things she found, nice rocks. She’s a bit of a hoarder.

Please read the Lore carefully on Kelvics. These are beings that are animals who can shift into human. Not the other way around. They are their animal first, then human, maybe. You may want to spend some time reading up on your chosen animal in how they would act instinctually.

You need to work on your concept.

    1. How a kelvic turns out and what kind of kelvic is usually unpredictable. There is only one person who can breed particular kelvic’s true and that is the queen of Alvanthal, Morwen. I get that she was meant to be for a noble girl, but she probably was bought that way not bred. A rare kelvic slave is something someone of money could afford.
    2. The whole concept of not wanting to kill defenseless animals is against the predatory instinct of a big cat. Snow leopards are ambush predators.
    3. The short attention span is very typical cat to things that are not interest, that part is good. Though they are very focused when hunting.
    4. The OCD you could describe her as obsessed and compulsive. It isn’t unknown for people to get this though it isn’t specifically called OCD. You do need to describe what she is obsessed and compulsive about as the behavior is specified to certain things like counting or repeatedly washing hands or something like that as an example. A cat with a compulsion may clean them selves constantly. You may not want to take this too far as it will get the cat killed in the wilderness.
    5. I get that the cat is sweet but remember the big cat is a predator. Sugar and spice does not fit. Kind and compassionate at times sure.

On your history:

    1. A snow leopard would not have been bred or bought for a little girl. Snow leopards are not pets.
    2. A slaver would have the kelvic firmly collared and leashed. And in a cage going through the public like that especially if she wasn’t a trained slave.
    3. Kelvics are not docile.
    4. A leopard cub in the middle of a city would not last long to be recaptured.
    5. The history mentions nothing of how she learned to survive the mountainside. That would be where she would have headed in the first place and not stick around the city.
    6. You need to read up on the city to know that there is no sneaking into the library all the time.
    7. The city never stops it does have specified rest times but that is in the lore.
Read the lores, research your animal and rework your concept and history.

Skills:

    1. You can’t have healing unless you have the healing gnosis. If your planning on having the healing gnosis you need to submit an HD ticket. Please read the lore on the Healing Gnosis from the Goddess Rak’Keli before doing so.
    2. Healing you probably mean medicine. You will need to figure out how she learned it other than sneaking into the library as medicine is a lot of hands on. You can’t learn medicine effectively from book knowledge. The character will need to have some practicum. Please fix this in your history.

Lore:

1. Medicine is too broad of a lore. You need a lore more specific please.

Housing:
1. You need to add the tent package to this part as that is what you are using.

Honestly there is a lot to fix here. You need to understand the race better that you are playing. You are playing a predator not a pet.

Thank you for your input, I'll be sure to work on the changes right away.

Just as a side note, tone goes a long way when talking to someone. I get that you're a mod, and that you're trying to help, and I appreciate that, but you could be a little friendlier. I'm new to this, I spent hours reading through all the lore and trying to just get a basic character up so that I could start. There's no need to be condescending or bitter about it.

Just giving this a bump as I made most of the changes. I just don't know what the Tent pack is, and I've looked through all the pages on starter packages.
