The 10th of Spring 516av. The Adan Pavillion.

It was fairly late in the morning. Perse eight bells so. Well, late in the mind of Brocton Adan. It was time that he set out for another hunting expedition. This time, hopefully to gain more experience and comfortability whilst out in the Sea of Grass. With a moan, the blonde slowly started to waken his eyes. He blinked a few times and rubbed the crustiness that got into his eyes from sleeping.

The ground beneath him was fairly hard and rough. Broc didn't mind as he was lying down on the bedroll. He caught sight of his sister Philly, and his mother already doing some family chores around the pavillion. Which usually isn't a lot. The two would occasionally wake up earlier in the morning so that once they finish their chores they'll soon be able to do what they want the rest of the day. Brocton chores is hunting. He and his father would usually go out and hunt with him. Lately, his father just hadn't had the time on him to do so.

Brocton rolled over on his side. The flaps of the tent swiftly opened up and revealed a dog. Not just any dog, his dog. His, companion. Terrance. It was a black and white furred hunting dog. He is just a few years of age and still he has the energy to pounce around and hunt. Broc chuckled lightly as the tongue of the furred animal licked his face. Including his eyes. Broc moaned a bit in disgust as he lightly pushed away the dog. "Calm down boy..." He said slowly. Rubbing his eyes once more and bringing them back down again.

He sat up on his rear and yawned. Stretching, he did his best to peer out into Synas sunlight that gleamed slightly through the pavillion. The tent was empty save for Brocton and Terrance. He heard chatting outside and figured that that could be his parents and sister. Though, he couldn't be so sure. As some other people could sound just like those whom he knows or might know. Broc got up with a push of his hands and slowly risen. Stretching once more. He put on his boots and slowly opened the flap of the tent by one hand and stepped out, slowly still.

He shields his eyes with the other hand as he closed the flap behind him, releasing the grip on the tent. "Ah, there you are. I thought you were out cold." Said his mother with a worried gaze over her face as she was washing clothes over a basin once again. "Mother, how many times a day would you have to clean those clothes. That's all I see you do now." Said Broc a bit more sourly then intended. He didn't mean for it to be in that form, but before he could think he spoke.

His mother just looked at him. Half flabbergasted and half anxious. "Well, how else would your clothes get cleaned? You dirty man. You know better then to speak to your own mother that way. That was unnecessary." She spoke. Pang hit Broc hard in the chest as his stomach almost did a double black flip. Broc sighed and cleared out the anxiety and tension that started to boil within him. "I apologize mother. You're right I will do better on my responses." He said sullenly. The blonde headed over to his mother slowly.

Terrance rushed around yapping and yipping excitedly for no apparent reason. One of the male's from another pavit peered over from his tent with a cocked brow. Broc didn't pay much mind to him. "So son, your going out hunting today, right?" His father asked. Broc jumped slightly as he hadn't seen his father come round the tent so unexpectedly. "Er ah yes father." Broc peered over his own tent to see what his father was doing. Brocton wasn't quite sure. "Good, you don't have to walk across the the land now to go get Jinx." As if on cue the horse whinnied from behind the tent.

"Father... You didn't need to-"
"Hush, you'll thank me later. Best you go get your job done so we can get some of them Mizas. Be careful out there. I love you son."
"I love you to father." Brocton walked back to his mother and sister washing clothes.
"Sorry mom. I will promise I'll do better. I swear." The mother looked over at him, hands wrist deep in a bucket of water.
"I know you will, now lean down so I can give you a kiss." Said his mother simply with a smile over her face. Broc leaned over and his mother kissed him on the forehead.
"Fair you well on your hunt, come back to us in one piece." Said Philly. Broc nodded and smiled. He gathered all of his hunting stuff including his longsword. Then, he would tie what he has over the Yvas. He untied Jinx from a post and mounted her. Then he clicked his heel and clicked his tongue. The two set of into the the Sea of Grass in search of game.

The Sea of Grass

Image

Jinx whinnied self consciously as Broc let her along through the tall grass. Light winds knipped the fairly warm air. Hooves beating against the hardened ground. Broc was looking over the mare and throughout the tall grass as it inched up just below Jinx's neck. Jinx whinnied again through anticipation. "Shhh, don't wound up the wild life out here Jinx. Be careful." The horse shook her head and snorted. She continued trekking.

Off in the far distance, the tall blades of grass shifted uncontrollably. Jinx halted and glared at the moving grass. It wasn't the wind. The wind didn't pursue them with a fast pace gust. It was gentle, and the wind could barely hurt a fly at this point. Broc inched Jinx closer. The horse disobyed and raised her to front hooves in the air and slammed them onto the ground. The shifting of leaves grew closer. What could this beast be, he did not know.

It was instantaneous. Broc raised his longbow he quickly drew an arrow and released it as a fox jumped out from the tall blades of grass. He couldn't fire in time. The red fox knocked him off of Jinx the horse whinnied in fear and whirled around. Broc's quiver full of arrows, his longbow and knocked arrow skitted through the tall blades of grass. The fox on top of him. Snarling and growling as Broc took hold of the animals head with both hands. 'Shyke.' He thought to himself.

Struggling. He managed to get the snapping jaws away from Broc's face as he attempted to push away the beast on top of him. He searched around for an arrow at least. His Longsword was weighed beneath him, probably getting bent by the weight of them both sitting on top of it. All of a sudden, the fox whimpered as Broc grabbed hold of an arrow. Jinx was there.

She used her back hooves and kicked the fox off of his body. Broc gasped. The fox whimpered again and whined. Then, it growled. The blonde swiftly got back up and searched for his Longsword, drawing it. He looked back at the fox that battered down the grass before him. The fox slowly crept towards the blonde. It pounced at him and with the blade poised directly at the fox, it whinnied as the shape piercing noise of the steel blade inched inside the animal. Broc lowered the blade as the beast was still over it, making it heavy as the blonde held onto it.

With a grunt. Broc lowered the blade and used his boots to pry the fox off by pushing it down with his feet. It made a weird screeching sound. "It didn't know when to quit. It should've quit before." Jinx strolled up and rubbed her head against her riders body. Brocton brushed his hand against the mares fur along its side. "Thank you. Very much." He said with a sly smile. Ignoring the blood, he sheathed his longsword and got on his knees to gather up all of his hunting stuff.

"Shit, a bent arrow." He cursed to himself as he found his quiver. Missing a few other arrows in it. Fortunately, he found d a few more and his longbow. Brocton pondered on skinning the fox and taking it with him, or should he just go out and search for different prey? Either or worked for him. He wanted more clean prey. He'll still earn money both ways, but The Spit Fire would perhaps appreciate more of a fresh clean kill. He patted Jinx and mounted her in search of better prey. Terrance! He almost forgot about the dog. "Terrance boy! Where are you?!"

He was by his side, wasn't he?

Brocton raised his shortbow and poised it with the arrow towards the shifting of the grass. Jinx whinnied and snorted. She clopped another inch or so before a coyote had pounced out of the tall grass. The dog, Terrance and his yaps could be heard a mile out from the east. Petch.

As the coyote jumped upwards towards Brocton. The blonde lost gripnof his shortbow and he toppled over, flattening the tall blades of grass as he fell.

Brocton struggled as the coyote gain the upper hand. Broc's shortbow was preventing the coyote to take whatever chances of biting at his face as it was positioned inside its mouth. Jinx whinnied and she round house kicked the coyote in the rear. Droll spilled over Broc's face, the coyote whimpered in pain and rolled over the blonde.

Brocton quickly ascended from the attack and notched in another arrow, ready to poise. The coyote limped towards Brocton, slowly as it progresses it snarled. Then it abruptly stopped. Raising it's head for a howl, Brocton fired as it was just about to. With a wickedly tormented whimper, the coyote fell flat on its lower body. Flattening more of the grass.

Brocton figured that he could skin this one again. As he needs the experience and of course it might give him extra coin. The blonde unsheathed his longsword after mounting his shortbow over his shoulder. The blonde trekked towards the coyote and the yapping of Terrance grew closer. The blonde was friendly shoved as the hunting dog stood up on its hinds and resting itself against Brocton, attempting to lick him. "Down boy." Said Brocton as he shoved the hunting dog lightly down.

Instantly, the dog was consumed by the tallness of the blades. Though, luckily Terrance has a fur coat of the black and white. "Now, let's earn some extra coin? Shall we?" Brocton spoke to no one in particular. He adjusted his fingers comfortably to avoid sweating. Jinx whinnied as if yawning, she strecthed all fours and lies down abruptly with a big flop. Knowing, that the skinning will take some time.

Terrance, he played with the bits of grass like a tug a war toy. If one of the blades ripped, he'd was it behind his master's back and go play off with another piece of grass. The blonde knelt down and whispered a short prayer. It was unintentional when he killed the coyote. It was hungry, the blonde understood that. Though, Brocton had to respond in self defence. It was... Necessary.

The blonde started to skin the beast with his Longsword. Yet, it would be much easier to use a dagger. On the other hand, he isn't proffiecent with it as he is with this long stick of metal. It posed a great problem, yes, in the long run it still gets the job done. Albeit if it was combat or skinning. It might even be an unnatural way to skin animals, though what the petch, right.

The blonde started in the middle, draining the crimson red liquid out onto the Sea of Grass. Each flattened tip of grass stained red by the once vicous predator. Now, it's silent as if it were nothing. It layed motionless, the soul of the beast slipping away. Slipping away, as the blonde struggled to skin the beast. It slowly, floats away.

With the coyote taken care of and things back on track. The noise of Terrance's panting returned. It didn't bother the blonde much at least it meant that he wasn't alone. Anyways, he wasn't alone for sure and obvious reasons. He had his stallion with him. Well, a Strider. It was one that Brocton can actually tend to get comfortable with. Even though she talked back and snorts a lot. Broc still cared for her any way that he can.

Terrance halted. Broc could tell by the decrease of the grass shifting beside him. The sound of his panting stilled. "Terrance?" Asked Broc as he clutched his heels tightly to the sides of Jinx. The mare snorted and raised her front hooves upwards in disgust and they both planted on the hard ground with a loud clap.

The dog growled. It was getting louder by the tick. What has gotten into him. Are these dogs really that rense when out in the Sea of Grass? What does it take for them to calm down? Broc continued on. Thinking that the dog was going haywire of something. Maybe another dog is in heat, and it could sense that? Anyways, what mattered at this moment was hunting. Because... He needed to support his family. The only way he could do that is by earning some type of income. He can't live off of nothing.

Not really, no.

At the moment, Jinx trucked along through the thicket of tall grass. Terrance followed on the right side of the mare. Broc could tell, only because of the shift as the dog walks on through. And he could here the panting. It was still later in the afternoon. Perhaps a bell after or so. Broc didn't mind; besides the fact that his mother so much as did. She wanted him home by a certain time, to make sure that he didn't die out in the wilds or that when their Pavillion left, he wouldn't be left behind. Though, Broc gave his clan and family the benefit of the doubt that they wouldn't leave a fellow hunter behind. Of course they wouldn't.

Hooves galloped across the earthen floor as Jinx, the Strider carried along observing all around her. Broc, a hunter of the Emerald Clan observed the land beyond. It itched him. The want to explore what else could be yonder. He was told of great cities and fantasies ever known to man. Though, he'd be as optimistic about that like his mother. He knew that if he had ever left the pavillion his family would probably end up in debt if they had chosen not to come along.

Though, if they had; they could all possibly make their own sort of income with the skill sets they have? Can't they? Wouldn't they be able to, since of course they have done a lot more things in the past then Broc and Philly would ever done. Meaning, his parents. His parents had done a lot through their time. They even traveled to trade goods with neighbouring cities. Perhaps, Brocton could find his own way into a city to understand how it functions. How the people inside go on about their days. What do they have to do to live, how would they even obtain food.

Sure, it'll probably be just like Endrykas, a market and a few vendors whom sell goods of all sorts and what not. "Somewhere over the meadow." He started to sing to himself, it was more of a mumble really. He stopped singing as he forgot the rest of the tune that his mother had sing. Sadly, he didn't know of the song and he wished to know more. Really. Maybe his mother would appreciate the fact that he wants to learn new things? Or that he'll be talking to her more. Whatever the case, it doesn't matter to Brocton. He didn't really care of what his mother thought of h; as long as she loved him that was all.

The tall blades of grass began to disperse into randomized lengths. The majority of which, grew to be short and condensed. "There girl." Said Broc as he wrapped his arms around the neck of Jinx lightly and pulled back. The horse snorted in disgust. Though did as she was told. "Sorry about that." Broc said apologetically as he looked towards a clearing to the east. Opposite of where the sun was now. "A deer." Whispered Broc. Broc dismounted and patted Jinx firmly on the side. Gathering his shortbow and quiver once again. It was roughly twenty yards out and grazing near a pond. Perfect. Broc notched an arrow carefully, he aimed....

He let go.

The arrow whistled through the clearing and thwack. Struck hard against the hide of the deer. The poor creature fell with a thud and crimson red liquid flowed onto the earth. Once again. This time, Broc won't bother skinning the second beast. Though, it would get him more learning experience about the concept. What does it matter though? The deer wasn't alive anymore as Broc had gained a lucky shot just in the neck, but be could've missed.

It was light enough to carry over to Jinx. She would be carrying the dead deer carcassback home and Brocton would have to walk. If Jinx would laugh, she would. Just to tease Brocton. The blonde lifted the dead deer onto the back of Jinx and started walking beside her and Terrance. Whom surprising stayed stayed quiet. "Well, all we need to do now is head home and see what coin we can earn today, right?" Said Brocton to no one in particular. And that is what they did, heading towards the Spitfire and then back home.
