Zark of the Tempered Steel

Postby Zark on April 20th, 2017, 10:51 pm

Zark of the Tempered STeel

Appearance

Race: Myrian
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Birthday: 24 Summer, 497
Birthplace: Taloba

Appearance: Ectomorph, raptorial, agile gait. There is a constant, mischievous smirk on his face, and the chestnut eyes sparkled with that energy that could be directed to either good or evil. The spry youth was ambitious indeed, his search for power and wealth only added to the glint in his eyes. Standing five foot eight, he bore a sharp chin, a nose that has been broken more than once, ears that were alert and a growth of beard that was always neatly cut to show the darkened skin. There was a single, vertical scar on his face, over his right eye, a blade barely missing his eyeball. His hair was black as any typical Myrian, it was corded together, heavily decorated with bones from his hunts. Along his spine was a tattoo of a spear, the point between his shoulderblades and the haft running down to his coxis. His prowess mark along his arm indicate his rank of rekrut within the Taloban army. Along his left thigh, the tattoo of a sling rests comfortably. On the opposite side, a tribal curved dagger.

Character Concept

The idea here with this character is to have a Myrian warrior discover crafting and delve into the world of making weapons and armor until he can return triumphantly to Taloba to serve Myri. Along the way, his arrogant nature will get him in trouble, because trouble is fun.

Character weaknesses: Myrian pride/arrogance, lack of knowledge outside Taloban, inexperienced, will defy those who are weak and lack of “Civilian-City-life” knowledge.

Quirks: Curiosity, eagerness, respect for authority. (Myrian authority.)

Character History

Born in Taloba, Zark was a good Myrian as any. Tribal, strong, eager to prove himself even before rites demanded it. He wanted his elders to speak well of him, he wanted attention and he wanted those around him to see him as a mighty being. Going to school and trying to surpass expectations, he got into plenty of trouble. It was a double-edged aspect of him; at times, he succeeded. More often, however, he failed and was punished. Eventually, he also learned discipline and different ways to explore different aspects of his training. He found himself tutors, mentors and various experts and he clung to them, hoping to learn their crafts. He spent a good amount of time near the armor and weapons crafter and was enthralled to see the objects that unleashed harm and death. The primal might of the weapons caught his curiosity. One day, he would learn how to make them as any specialist. That was his vow. Being of the Tempered Steel clan, On his 16th name day, he passed his trial without fail. His pride would not have let him live otherwise. He joined the Taloban army as it was mandatory. He reveled in the disciplined, hierarchy based system. When he wasn’t running drills and training, he was passing time with the weaponsmiths and armorers. Whenever he could, he learned from the masters. Being one of the Tempered Steel clan, he was keen to please his elders.

As all warriors of Myri, he was sent on a scouting expedition. Being overly eager to please his superiors, he went out too far. He was caught by a marauding band of slavers. Myrians made good slaves, strong, albeit hard to break. He bit off more than he could chew, and the young warrior was caught.. He was knocked out and when he awoke, in a jail-cart. He was with other people he did not recognize; he had encountered Dhani, humans and Charodae. But he definitely felt superior still with all these unknown people. He was Myrian, they were all prey to him and he was Myri blessed. Zark would easily find his way home. It was unfortunate he was the only Myrian, but he was not surprised. He was the one stupid enough to get caught, alive.

The caravan traveled for many weeks, but no one would buy him. He bid his time, his hunger kept his sense sharp and his will to free himself his priority. They fed him bread, but he yearned the fresh taste of blood still hot.

Eventually, with luck and many prayers to Myri, he managed to free himself. One of the guards had misjuded the lithe jungle-dweller. They had bound his hands, but not gagged his mouth. One night, he silently stalked his guard and ripped the man’s throat out. “I told you I would eat you.” He whispered into the night, as he licked his lips of the raw, fresh blood that dribbled down his chin and face. With a knife he looted from his captor, he freed himself, grabbed whatever he could find and ventured forth, away from the camp. It was there he gathered his meager possessions, along with the knife given to him by his parents. Plain, simple luck had it that the guard kept it all this time.

He ended up near Ravok. Little did he know the trouble he was getting himself into, but he couldn’t find his way back to Taloba. He was out of the jungle. He took his belongings, courage and entered the world of man.

With the cloak tightly bound around his form, the jungle dweller felt very out of place with the plains, loose forests and large trade roads.

The handle was covered with thick leather binding, giving it a good, hard grip. On the pommel was the inscription: Zark of the Tempered Steel. It was given to him after his trial of Blooding by his parents. With it, came a breast hilt, handle pointing down, meant for easy, quick draw. [/b])
