New Feature Trial Grading Policy Change!

IC News travels slowly in Mizahar. Fortunately there is a constant stream of news from around campfires, from caravan to caravan and from merchants to merchants. Within this forum lies the best of the best of this talk. Also, within this forum, OOC news from the staff and players can be found. This forum requires all posts to be 'approved' by a Founder before they are displayed. So if you post within, be patient. Your post did display - it simply will not show to everyone until approved as actual 'news'. Please keep all Introductions, Status Updates, and various other discussions in their appropriate forums and leave this area for game news!

Trial Grading Policy Change!

Postby Gossamer on May 27th, 2017, 4:20 pm

Like I told chat, I don't want to over complicate the system. But if you guys want to work out a system among yourselves that is still fair to the game as a whole more power to you. You can also ask other more experienced graders to double check your grades if you are unsure of something. That helps in the long run. One of the best graders I've ever seen is Gillar. If you guys ever get a chance to read one of his threads, the lores are always spot on. They are a good example of how to award lores, which are some of the most misunderstood items on Miz. :)

Trial Grading Policy Change!

Postby Yisanareysin on May 27th, 2017, 9:41 pm

So, I posted this in the global grading status thread, but I'm gonna cross post here.

How much interest would there be in a thread for people to post self graded threads for double checking?

If so, how should we do it? Two OKs and then deleted from the masterlist? Just leave them up for a while for people to check over and only comment if there's a problem? Other less unwieldy suggestion?

Great idea. We could sticky one in the Miz Discussion Forum. I'm more worried about Lores than anything else.

Quick Note:

Those seeking Grader Status should not just demand the test in the HD. They need to apply using a Grader Application. They are found in the wiki under Grader.

Grader Application

The Following Application must be submitted to the Help Desk. No recommendations are required at this time. However, once a PC applies to be a grader, they will be given a ten question T/F test that is unique for them alone. This test must be completed in the HD and they must score an 80/100 at least and then explain their wrong answers and the logic behind them if they miss any of the questions. Questions will be pulled from the Grading Guide directly. A Grader Application may take up to one week to process through the Help Desk so be patient.

IRL Name:

Age:

Name of all PC's You've Played Or Play:

Staff Positions You Hold Or Have Held:

Join Date On Mizahar:

Then write a brief paragraph as to why you want to acquire Grader Status.

Trial Grading Policy Change!

I feel like this may have been answered and I just missed it, so apologies if that is indeed the case (and if it's just a dumb question in general, please tell me)! But can we grade our own threads out of order? I only ask because I, for instance, am fine grading my solos but don't want to grade my group threads (I don't know why I feel that way, it's just where I'm at right now) so would that be acceptable?

EDIT: It's not a length thing. I'm fine grading group threads, or any thread, regardless of length!

ANOTHER EDIT: The answer to this question is yes, and I just can't read. Sorry for any confusion folks!

You can grade your own threads whenever and in whatever order you want too.

Trial Grading Policy Change!

Postby Gossamer on September 22nd, 2017, 3:42 am

So far, this has been working great. We've only had one blatant issue and the person was removed as a grader. I'm not counting that as a failure on the whole because I suspected this person would have an issue early on and they did.

So long as there is no problems with people grading their threads or group threads they are in, we'll maintain the policy. The grading ques have been going down like mad and the graders have really been able to keep up a lot better.

Please keep current on grading policy and make sure you all help each other when there are questions and concerns. The Help Desk is always open (and usually up to date) for questions and concerns.

Trial Grading Policy Change!

Question: If I'm working my way through a grade queue and reach a thread with my alt in, do I need to switch to the alt to make it clear it's a self-grade?
Very busy at work. May not be around much for a while.
