3rd Fall 517

The knocking on his door came at roughly the nineteenth bell, between the city shifting from a light lilac colour to a darkness illuminated with rainbow disco lights. The knocks - each was so separate, so purposeful, and so demanding that they could almost be considered as separate entities - came in three sets of three. If, by that point, the door to his residence hadn’t been opened stll, the speaker would lay a gloved hand on the handle and seemingly open it without a key anyway.

“Mr. Yisanareysin,” Severus the Serpent spoke politely, averting his eyes for a moment to allow the Dhani to prepare himself for the speakers approach, before moving over to the middle of the room, where he stood impressively, dropping petals of impossible white flowers, tinted with the slightest hint of green. His suit, another one of the tailor made variety he always wore, was green, a decorated with golden triangles at the cuffs. “I’m sorry to intrude like this.” But his voice betrayed that he had no care that he was intruding. Instead, his eyes observed the instead of the abode curiously, trying to figure out that facts he could pry from the floorboards and furniture. “But I have a… task for you.”

There was a moment of silence to allow the man to react in whichever way he wanted. After all, it wasn’t common for the speakers to simply walk into one’s house. Not for Reysin, and not for Severus either. But this was a situation where he felt his own, personal presence would have the greatest impact.

“I’m sure you’ve heard of the Inverted and their plans. They’re all over the city, so for a man of your intelligence,” Severus’s eyes sparkled with that word, placing pressure on it as he spoke, “It would be rather disappointing if you weren’t aware. Now. What you may not be fully aware of, is that they aren’t just going to Ravok to put on a show. And they need more individuals of your skillset.”

The man smirked, “Especially if you’re not well known to anyone for what you do.” The man paused a minute, letting a shower of white petals tumble like snow at his feet, before treading over them and placing a small velvet bag onto the table. The contents clinked as they settled. “You’ll be doing the Inverted, the city, and Ionu a big favour if you accepted this offer.”

Pausing, a flicker of worry fell over the Serpent’s eyes. His hands left the bag and he stepped away, keeping his distance from whatever the contents were. It wasn’t clear why exactly, he was worried. It wasn’t that he doubted Reysin. Or even cared very strongly about his wellbeing, to some extent. “You understand what it is I’m asking you to do?” Perhaps that was it, then. A worry that the Dhani wouldn’t understand what it was the Speaker was asking him to do.
