Vord

Appearance

Race: Human, Inarta
Gender: Male. Definitely Male.
Age: 27
Birthday: 3, Fall, 490
Birthplace: Wind Reach

Appearance: Vord has the bright red hair typical of his race. He wears it in a flowing scalp lock most of the time, with a silver band holding it up. His skin is pale, and his eyes are a bright blue, as blue as the sky that Skyinarta nearly kisses.

Character Concept

Vord is a falconer and hunter. He travels from place to place, along with his large (for it's species), pure white raven, Blädgen.

Character History

Vord was born in Wind Reach in Fall of 490. He was raised in an Avora family, his father being a glassmaker. His primary interests, however, were in hunting. He was taken under the proverbial wing of an Avora huntsman. One day while he was learning to hunt, in approximately the year 506, he encountered a baby raven with a broken wing. He tenderly takes it from the ground and to his teacher. His teacher recommended that he nurse it to health, saying it would be a good exercise in the bird handling that Wind Reach is so known for.

After almost an entire season, the raven, who Vord had named Blädgen, had recovered and was almost able to fly. Vord was spending his free days teaching Blädgen tricks, step up, step down, etc. He never kept the bird in a cage, instead letting it wander around his small familial home, becoming accustomed to humans, and learning things from his other family members. Vord continued his study of the hunt, but promised himself he'd be there when Blädgen took flight for the first time. And there he was, when Blädgen first took flight. He flew circles around Vord's head, the young man laughing and smiling. When Vord extended an arm and gave Blädgen the command to come, the bird flew down to his arm as gracefully as though he'd been doing it all his life. Then, as the days turned to weeks, and the weeks turned to seasons, and the wheel of Time continued to flow... Vord began teaching Blädgen to talk. The bird was a fast learner, and there seemed to be an intelligence in the bird's eyes far beyond that of other birds. After many weeks, almost an entire season, Blädgen was forming full sentences on his own, although they were halting and full of mispronunciation, as the bird was still learning the language. During this time, Blädgen was beginning to molt his feathers, and the feathers that cane in were a pure, snowy white. The phenomena was one nighthe couldn't find an answer to, no matter how hard he tried. After a few more seasons, Blädgen was more than proficient with his speech. In about the year 510, around Vord's 20th birthday, his teacher passed into the void. Vord was saddened by the loss, but knew that it was a part of life. In his will, his teacher left him his recurve bow and a letter, which read as letters from the deceased often do. Vord, reading the letter, was deeply saddened, but as a result of the letter, he left Wind Reach in search of himself, on a sort of pilgrimage. He

Blädgen and Vord now wander Mizahar, content to feel he dirt beneath their feet and the air beneath their wings, hunting for food, tanning the skins, and telling the tallest of tales, even occasionally going into towns to sell their services and get some coin and a good night's rest. They share a strange and wonderful bond, and it's rare that one is too far from the other. For the last few seasons, they've traveled with a trade caravan, working and telling stories to the camp at night. They're currently near Alvadas, the City of Illusions, the final destination where they leave their caravan friends behind.

Language

Fluent Language: Common, this is the language he was raised around and is most fluent with.
Basic Language: Nari, Wind Reach's native language, he understands most of the words said in the strange, trilling language.
Poor Language: Vani, due to his time spent around various Vantha people, he has picked up a few common phrases and choice oaths.

A few errors, a few fixes. Once you've got these done, you can send me a PM, and get back to writing!

  • Link your Character Sheet on your profile through the User Control Panel, for easy access.
  • Falconry Lore: Simple Training Techniques isn't specific enough for a lore. Give a specific training technique instead.
  • Ravens don't come as white. If you are set on this, please check with the Help Desk for approval, but it seems like an unnecessary gimmick that's not very realistic.
  • Training your raven to talk, while possible, seems to be beyond your falconry skill level. Perhaps your PCs teacher helped them. Or, you could leave it for something to do in thread. Either way, I can't see the raven speaking full sentences at your falconry level.
  • Currently, you don't actually own Blädgen - you must list him in your inventory, and pay for both the bird and required equipment.
  • Your heirloom must be a SINGLE item worth 50GM or under. This can't be a bow and a quiver of arrows. Please change this.
