Morelyse Cinder
Appearance
Race: Human
Gender: Female
Age: 25
Birthday: 5, Summer, 492 AV
Birthplace: Zeltiva
Appearance: A young woman of average height, about 5'5" (167.64 cm) and weighing about 125lbs (56.699 kg). She has a slender build, lacking in visible muscle. Her hair reaches past her shoulders, and is heavily tangled and dreadlocked, most likely so she does not have to worry about it being in her way, or trying to wash such a thick amount of hair. She often dresses simple, even if she could possibly afford something nicer.
Character Concept
Morelyse is a character who was once a healer, focused on creating antidotes for aquatic poisons, fungal poisons, and arboreal poisons. However, after losing her daughter to a mixed-type of poison involving all three of her specialities, her only focus became executing the person responsible.
After she caught the disturbed woman, who slipped the poison into her daughter's food, Morelyse was too tainted and corrupt to simply go back to a life of healing poisons; she instead began to produce and sale poisons of her own–trying to steer clear of creating anything that was already known.
She passes her work off as simply studying aquatic plants and creatures to create more antidotes, and she will still act in the role of healer if the price is right. But it's got to be very right, or she needs her maternal side (which is highly supressed) appealed too.
Character History
Lorta and Khala were the only parents that Morelyse knew; which was not saying much. Morelyse stumbled into a tavern that Lorta and Khala ran together, with a man who can only be described as 'probably her birth father'. This man got a room above the tavern, and the next morning when Khala went upstairs to clean the room, she found the two year old girl, staring back up at her from the comfort of the bed.
Abandoned, Khala never stopped to ask Lorta if they could keep the child, the girl simply began to live with them, above the tavern. Eventually, after a few weeks, they came to a silent agreement that the girl needed to be called something other than "Girl", and gave her the name they had wanted to give their own daughter, if they'd ever had one, Morelyse.
Khala and Lorta never had children of their own, but they never once stopped to tell Morelyse that she was anything but their child. When she was eight, she was informed that she was indeed adopted.
Lorta and Khala ran the tavern, but they also brewed poisons for the right price, and antidotes for even more of a price. Morelyse learned the start of her trade from her parents.
And then, at fifteen, she fell in love with a man. He was a traveler, and they married when she was eighteen. They settled in Ravok when she was twenty-two, because she was too pregnant to safely travel. She gave birth to a lovely daughter, by the name of Stoia. This young child became the focus of her life, as she split her time between her family, and her craft. She had trained extensively with her parents in the way of poisons, and apprenticed under a healer. Here, in Ravok, she gave her expertise as a healer and things were good.
Until they weren't. Her husband died when she was twenty-three, in an accident. And a new lover came into her life a few months after, however this woman was too toxic towards Stoia, often saying the toddler needed to be more independent, and take less of her time. This led to Morelyse promptly dropping her lover, and focusing all of her time on work and her daughter.
When the little girl was four, someone dropped off a pie. "It was Merisa, mama." Merisa had been that toxic lover, and she was not keen on eating the pie, but she had decided it was too good of a delicacy to simply throw out. Estoia deserved something nice for once in her life, didn't she?
However, she needed to head to a patient's house, and left Estoia with orders to stay in their home. Estoia obeyed; but ate a piece of the pie. By the time Morelyse had gotten home, her daughter was too far gone to save. She watched the little creature she had coveted and raised convulse one more time, before her breath left her body.
And this is where her story begins. She killed her ex-lover, Merisa, by using a similar mixture to weaken her, and from there, she tortured the other woman until she eventually died. This has led to her falling deeper into her darker side. Instead of offering just antidotes, she now offers the actual poisons to those who pay high enough. The most money is to be made by creating poisons that nobody else has documented; because they have to come back to her for the antidote.
