Appearance

Eight feet tall and a little over 600 pounds, Neth is much like the rest of his Jamoura brothers and sisters. Dark fur that is well groomed covers his body head to toe, and rarely does Neth bother to cover himself as the small humans do. Never has he cared to hide from Syna's warm gaze as he worked bent over his plants, and often he wonders how some of the other races move when restricted as they are.

There are times when he moves that Neth feels his long arms are a tad bit ungainly, and on a whole he feels awkward in his motions. Perhaps it was because of this that as a young Jamoura Neth took so well to the upkeep of the plants around him. Crouched or hunched over the earth he did not feel as though his clumsy movements were quite as obvious. His movements are slow and methodical, both due to self consciousness as well as an understanding of his own strength. The little flowering blooms which he works with are delicate, and so always does Neth keep his own strength in mind as he works.

If Neth were asked to describe himself he would say he was average. He was tall, but not the tallest. He was large, but not the largest. His eyes were a nice shade of brown, but no where close to the nicest eyes another Jamoura might have. His hands are often dirty from his work in the ground, but the rest of him is always kept clean and in proper order. Neat, orderly, and ordinary. That was always how Neth saw himself.

Personality

For as long as Neth can remember he has enjoyed solitude. Not really due to the lack of interaction with others, but rather because it allowed him to be alone with his thoughts. He enjoys the act of thinking, and meditating and contemplating to the point that, at times, he forgets to speak when thrust into conversation unexpectedly. Even among his own kind Neth has been considered soft spoken, preferring to consider closely before giving an answer in haste. Plants, then, are perhaps Neth's most trusted companions and confidants. They do not rush him, or press him with questions he did not know the answer to, and they always listened when he spoke. Sometimes while he worked Neth would speak for hours on end, at times even days, to the little green and colorful plants which were under his care.

He is thoughtful and slow to speak, and slower to come to a decision. Once he does, however, he moves on that decision with a steadfast resolve which does not wane or waver no matter if it takes decades, or even centuries to accomplish his goal. Neth can at times be extremely single minded, a trait which set him at odds with others of his kind, but it is something that Neth himself takes pride in. He knows how difficult it can be to achieve change without decision, and while he will never make a hasty action, once he is clear on his goals he does not hesitate to begin setting out to achieve them.

Like most of his kind Neth sees very little good in violence of any kind. Death, and bloodshed are what the small and weak turn to in order to achieve a selfish end. Animals, and especially the sentient races, are all so quick to turn to fighting to solve their problems. This is why Neth much prefers the company of plants. It is true that there is a cycle of life, and death is a part of it. Death and violence in the name of survival and the natural order is one thing, but war for greed or selfish desire is more than distasteful.

History

Neth grew up listening to the stories of the females of his family, and from them a picture of the world was set in his mind. In that mental image the world was a vast, ever changing landscape of lush green, towering trees, roaring oceans and burning sands. The people that lived outside of the Spire were short lived, their lives flashing past in an instant as the Jamoura walked the world at a rightful pace. There was danger, death, bloodshed, but also there was life, love and compassion.

To the young Neth the world outside of the Spire's was amazing. It was so big, so endless that he could not wrap his mind around the possibilities. What was it like to stand before an endless body of water? What sorts of plants could survive bitter cold nights and scorching days? What people were these that lived such short lives, yet seemed so fulfilled by them? When the time came, of course, Neth left the safety of the Spires to see this world for himself. What he found, however, was that the stories were more true than he ever could have imagined.

Life struggled. For the first time Neth understood what it was to truly suffer as he watched from a distance as a family in Sylira salvaged what few items they could after their crops were burned and their home destroyed. He saw in Falyndar how two species of intelligence could fight and kill one another with little to no reason beyond that they always had done so. He felt the struggle to survive in a hostile environment with little food or water. Then there was the blood. It flowed freely, everywhere he went. Men killed men, mother killed child, kin stole from kin. Violence and anger and hatred, all for the sake of survival or selfish wants. It embittered the once naive Jamoura, and for a time he completely withdrew from the world and sought refuge among the green and flowering plants of his homeland.

It was not what he had expected. The stories did not prepare one for the harsh realities of the world, and Neth did not know what to do. For a time he simply lost himself in the life he could help. The plants he grew, the flowers that bloomed. There, he knew, he could help. Perhaps if all the world were bountiful, and there was no need for fighting over food or water... Perhaps then the world could be a better place. Then Neth made a decision. He set out once again into the world, now with a mission he placed on himself to help in the only way he could. If he could revitalize those lands which suffered from famine or drought, perhaps he could slowly begin to heal this broken world. At the very least he felt as if he had to try.
