The Diamond of Kalea is located on Kalea's extreme west coast and called as such because its completely made of a crystalline substance called Skyglass. Home of the Alvina of the Stars, cultural mecca of knowledge seekers, and rife with Ethaefal, this remote city shimmers with its own unique light.

Seventy Fifth of Summer, 518 A.V.

The pomp and circumstance of visiting another city was lost on Loken. Even as his boots graced the surface of the docks of Port Tranquil, his mind only took in information of importance which meant he tended to ignore the needless frivolity of artistic beauty. This idea was only made evidently clearer as he found himself unable to see past the dense build up of fog swarming the port. The sky undulating with clouds of darkness blotting out the high noon sun. It made things cold. He had experienced cold along the ship ride to Lhavit, but now standing on the edge of a mountain. It was cold.

Loken would not allow this visual obstacle to ruin his day. He swiftly diverting his focus to his other senses as he tasted the air; done so by smelling it to let that scent transition to a linger taste on his tongue. “Sea froth. Bitter. Scent, insipid. Though far from as unpalatable if a salt on a meat.” He mused to himself as he found himself walking further along the docks along the path towards the city proper.

He held his long black wool coat close around his body, buttoning it shut around the black leather armor he wore underneath to keep himself warm. Loken was content to just head to the city when a woman's voice called out to him.

Image He turned to find a Svefran woman sitting on her casinor docked at the port. On it, she had a random barrel with fish wiggling within it. “Raven haired, with shimmers of blond. Clearly Svefra.” He thought to himself as he examined everything about her at first glance. “Cold. Wrapped in thick brown coat. Hand, holding mug. Steaming. Hot tea? Outward body movements, comfortable.”

Loken found that information stuck when he mentally stated the obvious facts to himself. The woman sat relaxed on a stool, keeping warm as best she could while motioning a free hand to the barrel of fish. “Fresh tuna, just caught it today. Would you like to buy one?”

He did not respond to her question, only choosing to respond with a question of his own.

“Might I inquire as to the nature of your business?” He knew that the woman sold fish, but he worded his question in a way that weighted itself towards her possibly mentioning further details not normally expressed. The Svefran woman quirked a brow at him as she took a sip from her drink.

“I sell fish.” She stated simply. “I mean, If I needed the miza; which I don’t. I would possibly also offer to transport people along the coast for a price, but that’s not going to happen anytime soon.”

The Cultist nodded as he silently watched her, leading to a relatively awkward moment as they stared at each other in silence for a tick. “Forgive my manners, I am called Loken. You would not happen to know the premiere laws of the land by heart? I am new and wish to avoid doing anything untoward. And, ”

Despite it being hard to see ten feet beyond ones own body, she could clearly see Loken. His all black attire gave away his position juxtapositioned against the gossamer alabaster mist. She found her eyes lingering on the leather armor he wore on his legs, but more specifically the edge of the hilt of the wicked looking sword peeking up over his right shoulder. It belonged to the tiger hook sword which hung from the weapons harness on his back.

“Same as most places, I suppose? there is the normal ‘don’t go killing, stealing, and harming people’.” She started to think of the other important ones before taking a rather large sip of her drink again. “Sabel Wavecrasher. Stop by for all your fish needs.” The conversation naturally led itself towards the fact that he was not going to buy a fish which was what Loken wanted to happen.

“Its been a pleasure talking to you, Miss Wavecrasher. If you ever have need of a sword for defense, seek me out in the city.” He refrained from stating any type of price. If she needed the aid he would help her, but it was also a statement of limited connection. The making of a possible acquaintanceship in this new city. He never knew when he'd need an ally.

“Good to know, Mr Loken. If you need information on the city, stop by the Cosmos Center. You can’t miss it, just to the right of the lovely path leading from the Amaranthine Gate into the city.”

"The Cosmos Center. The Amaranthine Gate." It was already proving useful to offer the semblance of future aid to relax someone enough to help him, even if that help was simply as minor as telling him; a new visitor to the city, the names of general city locations when not asked. Loken gave her a nod of his head in salutation, which she returned in kind with a raise of her mug before he turned to part ways with her.

Once he moved far enough away from the docks, Loken found himself at the start of a narrow pathway that led him to a main walkway up to the Amaranthine Gate which led to the peek of the mountain. The fog was going to make the trip a treacherous one if it narrowed near the top. "I'll just have to deal with that when I come to it." He mused cautiously before noting the odd structure near the path in his peripheral vision.

"Crystal. Apparent consistency of glass. Able to be formed into a structure. Interesting, but nothing important enough to stop me at the current time... Inquire about the odd construction material in the city."

With that mental note stored away for later use, he took one step onto the path, "One," Counting the steps in his head as he wished to know how many strides it would take for a person to reach the top. Journey was instantly cut short by the arrival of a strange man, escorting two strange horned animals towards him.

ImageThe strangers appearance alone was enough to give Loken pause, his hand moving to rest within the pockets of his coat as he turned to the man who was now, mysteriously, standing opposite him with two majestic horned rainbow-like beasts flanking either side just behind him. "Hello stranger," the person ended up denoting him as the odd man out in the current situation. "My name is Hachia Koat, I'm happy to help you if you need a guide up the mountain." The Guide motioned a hand towards the creatures. "Hop on if you wish for a ride."

"Horns. Same martial as the house. Both are a naturally growing martial, like crystal?" Loken stood there looking from the creatures to the old man. "I will walk the path up the mountain with my own legs. It is my first time to Lhavit, If I can not make it there, then I never deserved to see it." Loken could not tell, but he noticed the slight twitching of Hachia's facial hair in a smiling motion. He assumed what he had just said amused the old man in some fashion.

"However, should you wish, you can accompany me along the way." Loken turned halway back towards the path, but kept his eyes on the old man. Hachia responded by mounting the saddle of one of the creatures. A secondary beast followed behind, which he assumed Hachia was bring along in case Loken wanted the ride. "What are those creatures called?" He decided to spark up a bit of conversation after they had gone about ten chimes up the path, finding the man to be a susceptible source of valuable information. It was a simple question to see how freely the man would answer any future questions.

"They are Okomo, they are sacred animals here in Lhavit." It was a short answer, one that proved to Loken the old man was not the best conversationalist. "Clothing, old. Weather worn. Guide for a path outside a city. Lonely, yet at peace." The Ano Cults respected that about Hachia. In his own way, the mans live seemed to be in the penultimate stages of balance. Loken could only assume the remaining twilight of the old mans life would most likely be looked upon well by Gnora. "Why are they sacred? And are there dangerous creatures along the path we walk?"

The pace seemed a bit slow for Loken's taste, he wanted to at least get to the city gate while the sun was still up. That was why he held the straps of his backpack, then started to jog. He was not going at a breakneck speed, but just wanted to go faster than walking. It was more a test of stamina now than speed. Hachia and the Okomo hardly needed to adjust their speed to keep up with a walking man. They kept right on Loken's heels.

"If its not obvious, their horns are made of Skyglass. Its because of Zintila's blessing that their horns are made of the stuff. They are stronger than steel. Most of the city is made out of the stuff. The environment is relatively dangerous near the peek, it wraps around mount Zintia Peak then bridges towards Sartu Peak where the Amaranthine Gates are. Being high up, we might cross a Zith. But they don't tend to get too close to the city proper due to the Shinya."

"Skyglass. Shinya. Zintila."

They were relatively new words which he knew were going to now be apart of his vocabulary. "Clarify two things for me: one, The Shinya. They are the city guard, correct? And two, Zintia? Her blessings to the Okomo along with to the city is called Skyglass... then its safe to assume that she is the Goddess of Stars given 'Glass' in the 'sky'? And that the city is called 'The Star of Kalea'. Forgive my ignorance about the goddess domain, she is not one who I've spent much time studying in the past."

Loken's jogging duration hit a constant stride, but his pace increased at steady intervals. He was not trying to go crazy, but the fact that he had a guide made him feel safe about using this trip as a means of exercise because he could always just ride the Okomo. As his boots hit the ground, Loken changed nothing about his form but started to feel the activity wearing on him.

The Cultist had been running up an elevated incline, one that slowly became steeper without him even noticing the further he jogged. Hachia kept up with the man while on his mount at a calm pace. "You are right on both accounts. If you want to learn more about the Shinya, or join, then I suggest you head to the Shinyama Pavilion."

Loken glanced back over his shoulder as his breath started to become more trite, losing fresh air quickly, and breathing in rapidly to replace it. ""I will look into them. If they are as you say, they uphold the law of the land. An Idea which I am interested in." He shifted his gaze back towards the ground ten feet in front of him. The seasons fog made it hard to see, which made the trip up the Misty peek that much more dangerous. But he kept moving. It was not all jogging, Loken knew better than to run when the path began to curve dangerously along the peek. It was a silent venture at that point as he just continued to count in his head... Loken had been counting his every stride, step, and footfall. The total was relative, given his steps were exact or measure. His tally would either be lesser or greater depending on his personal pace. Ultimately, after nearly over a bell they had finally made it to the Amaranthine Gate; and Loken was sweating mess.

Loken took a knee in front of the gate, fishing his waterskin out of his backpack to drink heavily from it. He set the waterskin away to finally gaze upon the Gate. "Quite impressive." He stated in a matter of fact tone towards the guide. The Shinya on guard were the second people he noticed, giving each of them a nod in greeting as they smiled at him. A Shinya standing to the right of the gate called out to him. "Hail, what brings you to Lhavit?"

It was a question he found easy to answer. "Survival. To learn, and remain in balance with the city to help aid in its order."

His answer seemed to suffice as the Shinya made no motions to detain him, or strip him of his weapons. He turned to his momentary Guide companion, walking over to him to thank him for his company with an outstretched hand. Hachia shook his hand with another soft twitch of a smile under his beard. "Deny all falsehoods as you walk the path." It was an odd farewell that Hachia did not expect to hear as Loken turned to make his way into the city.

Loken followed the elaborately decorative path towards the Cosmos Center. He marched at slugs pace, not putting any unnecicary strain on them after the trip up the Misty Peeks. He reached the door to find the main hall empty after he emerged through the door. A couple more steps brought him in line with the glass case on the wall to the left, reading a bulletin board covered in news articles.

“Three Towers cancel all classes this season; Summer five hundred eighteen. They will remained closed for the indefinite future.” Loken read over various other lackluster notices, but kept found that most of them were watermarked by the ‘Stargazing Gazette’.

He turned around to venture over to the desks to the right of the main room, looking around for any city government official. With no one around, Loken tapped the crystalline bell resting on the desk. He did not know the protocol for it, but found himself ringing the bell once ever chime. After the third ring, a jovial woman emerged from a backroom who smiled at him.

Image"Welcome to the Cosmos Center; a place where any newcomer can find aid acquiring a job, a home, or information regarding the city itself. My name is Youchi Dawn-Sakana, how many I help you today?”

“Red head, gleeful. Youchi Dawn-Sakana” He mused to himself as she was in the middle of speaking to him. “I am new to the city, I will require aid with all of those things. But first, I wish to learn the rules by which all residents live.”

Youchi pulled out a piece of parchment, laying it on the desk in front of Loken. “That is not usually the first thing people ask for, but… I am happy you did. A law abiding citizen is always welcomed.” Loken’s eyes fell to the parchment as he read in silence and he folded his arms across his chest, remaining similarly silent for a moment or two.

“Rule number one: You cannot not kill, steal, or cause any harm to your neighbor. Rule number two: You cannot abuse or subvert any preexisting law. Rule number three: Public disruptions such as riots or looting are forbidden. Rule number four: The Goddess Zintila has the right to veto any and all decisions regarding the law. Rule number four: Pardons may only be given by Talora, Aysel or Zintila. Rule number five: Okomo are sacred and protected by divine right. Abuse of the Okomo may result in death."

After a couple of seconds passed, he gave a nod of his head and unfurled his arms from across his chest, allowing them to fall to his sides. "Understood." he remarked flatly, his words absent of any real degree of tone. “Who are Talora and Aysel?”

Youchi had learned a lot about Loken's personality within a short span of time from his line of questioning. "Aysel and Talora are both Ethaefal who Co-Ruling the city of Lhavit. They discovered Zintila atop what is now the Zintia Peak, where they all then became the founders of the city." She lifted a hand to tap a finger against the parchment that held the rules of law.

"If you feel like upholding the law would be a good way for you to give back to the city, might I suggest visiting the Shinyama Pavilion to inquire about joining them. But, all people need jobs. What skills do you have?"

Loken nodded in assent, paused and then confirmed his response vocally. "I devoted myself to martial practice, I've been good at combat ever since my childhood within the Ano Cult. Likewise, I have some skills in trying to uncover falsehoods should anyone need it... have you ever committed a crime?"

He watched as Youchi seemed to know exactly where his skills would be needed, just by the way her smile shifted into a slight prideful smirk. She was clearly the best suited person for the job here. "Kenvell Rimes at the Star Gazing Gazette is in need of an investigator to research things for her. The Gazette is sends out publication containing information about current events to keep the city, 'in the know'... and no. I'm happy not committing crimes."

Loken reached up to softly stroke at his chin, it sounded like the perfect job to him which also allowed him to learn more about the city. "It sounds perfect to me. Where can I find both the Gazette and the Shinyama Pavilion." Youchi tapped the bell on the desk three more times, it caused a young man to emerge from the backroom. "Oishi, can you take this gentleman to the Gazette and the Shinyama Pavilion so he does not get lost in the fog?"

Image"Young, mid-adolescence. Energetic, more so then most children." He started thinking as he watched Oishi begin to excitedly stand beside him. "Will do! You new? Where did you come from? Nice sword? You going to join the Shinya?" The young man began to barrage him with a series of questions, all of which Loken noted but refrained from answering as he quirked a brow at the boy. "I'd like to head to the Shinyama first, young man." He said after giving Youchi a slight bow of his head."And thank you for your aid, its been a pleasure meeting you." It was a sentiment she returned as she watched Loken leave the Center.

As soon as they exited from the building, Loken barraged the boy with a rapid flurry of answers to each of the questions. "Yes, I am a newcomer to this city. I came from Ravok. Yes, my sword is nice. If the Shinya are the city guard, I will join them if possible."
