Gilcrest is seemingly lanky with a modest one hundred and seventy pounds attached to a six foot tall broad shouldered frame. A closer inspection would show that he wasn't just simply thin, instead that his body is free of superfluous fat and comprised of lean corded muscle. His wide set green eyes are highlighted between the paleness of white skin and the darkness of black hair. The hair is kept just long enough to not impair vision while also maintaining a certain coverage over slightly protruding ears. With a small pointed nose and thin lips, much to his dismay, he is the epitome of boyish youth.
Character Concept
A devote Shinya Acolyte, Gilcrest absorbs and reflects the teachings he has received over the last twelve years. Along with the standard Shinya religious practices, he also worships Myri. Only a few have seen his deadly seriousness towards gaining power. Meditation has since calmed his overly ambitious pursuit to get stronger from his youth. However, traits of insecurity and discontent can be seen in the form of self deprecating humor and goofy antics. If a bit overconfident in his abilities, he usually remains seemingly carefree. He enjoys being able to make people laugh, and along with his uninhibited personality this allows him to defuse tense situations with some charismatic grace. When needed, as if it's a switch within him, his demeanor changes to the cold sense of a serious combatant.
Character History
Gilcrest was born to a Seiza priestess and an Autava within Lhavit. Both being bound by their duties, left little means in terms of family life, but instilled within him a dutiful mindset. As is customary, he was recruited young and became a Shinya initiate at the proper age of nine. The honor that came with becoming Shinya brightened the young boy, but it also proved to make him arrogant. The Shinya that sponsored him took notice of Gilcrests overly ambitious tendencies in attitude and recklessness. Rigorous teachings in training, discipline, and meditation tactics quickly humbled the initiate into a more receptive state. Atop of the typical training the sponsor felt it was important to study the language of Symenos. Lhavit was peaceful, however, their closest threat was the Symenestra and the knowledge could prove useful. After years of the preparatory training, and when Gilcrest was truly ready, the sponsor appealed to the Shinya Elite for him to become an Acolyte.
Upon becoming an acolyte Gilcrest took his assigned place within the Shinya Pavilion. The Shinya sponsor continued to advance the tactics in which he used to guide Gilcrest. As a new Acolyte Gilcrest was taught the basics into Projection magic. Though it wasn't typical among Shinya, as he had with previous sponsored acolytes, the sponsor had began the process of initiating Gilcrest in Flux magic. This was done under the condition that the Acolyte had to become competent in his use of Projection prior to working further into Flux.
