Comet

Appearance

Race: Ethaefal of Syna / Inarta by night
Gender: Female
Caste: Chiet
Age: 0
Fallday: 5th of Spring, 519 AV
Landing: Twin lakes, Wind Reach

Appearance:

Daylight: When a god gives you their attention, it is not an empty claim to call it favor. With a height of almost seven feet, she's a very conspicuous sight. Even from afar, she could be known by the sunlit glimmer of her rosy and copper skin. Before gaining enough purchase to study her in detail, people will also notice a pair of large green crystalline protrusions growing from her temples and above the ears, before branching out parallel with her shoulders and making the space her head occupies almost twice as large. Once in clear view of her face, the eerie monotone of her complexion becomes more apparent, even with the distracting light breaking off the skin, it's easy to notice a distinct lack features or birthmarks on her skin. With high set cheekbones, slightly downturned nose and a narrow face, her visage looks almost predatory – even more so when you're in the focus of her molten eyes. The rest of her body was built with a lean purpose in mind, skin hue unchanging all the way to her soles. There is a hint of breast which looks lacking on someone of her size, with all the proportions better suited for people cut from stone. It's very hard to shake off a feeling of otherworldliness when face to face with this creature.

Nightshroud: Almost as a cruel, orchestrated trick of fate, her past bears the diminutive stature of the Inarta. Dropping well over 2 feet of height, she stands at a mere 4'7 with her weight swaying around 75 pounds. She doesn't look out of the ordinary among the others of her kind, but one can't help but feel underwhelmed when aware of how she looks during the day. Her eyes remain molten but more gold than amber in this form. Her diminutive height might mark her more of a Yasi than a fully grown individual to a stranger. Everything about this form is slight, except the energy that it exudes. As if to overcompensate, in this state, her approach to things is energetic to the point of being slightly jittery. There are a couple of interesting distinctions to her outward appearance which stand out upon closer inspection. Her hands seem slightly rough and calloused, almost like they have seen many years of work. There is a myriad of smaller scars on her forearms, which remind almost of claw marks. Still, the most noticeable imperfection is from a formerly deep wound below the left collarbone – judging by the scar, this was likely done by a powerfully drawn arrow.

Character Concept

Movement is sacred – as long as one keeps moving and doing, one can stave off the thinking. This idea drives the newborn Ethaefal and keeps her always moving forward in everything she does – because to stop and think would invite the thoughts of despair and defeat. This can sometimes make her seem a touch callous, but she hardly notices. With thinking often absent from the equation, her actions tend to be more rash and uninhibited than those of her brethren. There is still a lingering thought at the back of her head though – what if the fall wasn't an accident, but a purpose? What then? What if the Lightmother had abandoned her to her own devices?

Divinity is unfathomable even to those who have touched it, so even she could never make sense of the rebirth which took place. One moment she was... she was doing something, even with the memory distant, she remembers the pleasant feeling – and the next moment she rose from her own watery grave like a Nuit from Dira's bed of dirt. She can never understand nor accept the feeling of utter abandonment felt with her soul's core. With her own faith being shaken from the inside, she adds extra posturing to it. Her actions often reference the Goddess, and she's happy to pull others towards the Sun's warmth – if only to make herself feel better. Her pursuit of making sense of her fall leads her mind in many dangerous and blasphemous directions, so she always keeps herself occupied. While she feels herself shackled to the shade, there is no reason she can't be the lightbringer for others. In service to others, she tries to proxy the warmth of her estranged mother. She is a hypocrite who sells others optimism while lacking hope of her own. It is not ideal, or even good, but it is what keeps her alive and keeps her going.
