Koth Silverside Appearance Race: Human Gender: Male Age: 23 Birthday: 41, Spring, 496 Birthplace: Caetus, Unknown Barbarian Camp. Appearance: 6ft 9 and Huge. He couldn’t hide if he tried, barrel-chested and thick arms. Big old silver eyes and a shaggy blonde beard. The beard can be tied but is usually left thick. His jawline is square and his nose fat, much like his waistline. He’s not fat, but he’s certainly not lean and weighs what his size suggests. Character Concept A simple man. Enjoying drink. Fighting. Collecting Axes! More drink. Hunting and other pursuits where he can let instinct take over. A hoarder of trophies, weapons and especially axes. Therein lies his one true vice, he cannot pass up a good axe when he sees one in the hand of a fighter that doesn’t deserve the weapon. The amount of trouble, fights and outright violence that has taken place because Koth picked up someone else’s axe is something of a story told by his family back home. Impulsive would be a word for Koth, true to his barbarian nature. He will tolerate no good axe kept by a man who doesn’t care for the weapon and know how to handle it. Carrying an Axe should be done with pride, respect for the weapon, and a will to use it. At odds with his barbarian nature is he enjoys lighter music, soft voices, and quiet words. He has been known to spend all his coins on the right bard to just play more songs. Perhaps it is the soothing nature of music compared to the rough reality of life as a mercenary and hunter. Music while not sacred to him, should not be interrupted lightly. Animals. Never waste a kill, this is a big deal to the big man. He can't stand people that hunt for sport and don't make full use of the fur, meat and everything else the beast was carrying. Even in the good time's when food is plentiful, you can sell what you don't use, so someone can make use of it. Character History Born to a family that lived off the lands, moving from place to place to avoid the worst predators was a dangerous life. The original barbarian camp dwindled without the support of a city, still it took an impressively long time to dwindle with some of the fiercest warriors you’ll get to see. Charging headlong into any danger no matter how grim. He remembers fond times hunting, taking care of weapons, songs by the camp and occasionally raiding unfortunate merchants, at least when the seasons were bad enough. Taught to survive in shortages, and never to waste what you kill. Toward the end of the Caetus clan raiding was their mainstay, food had become hard to find without competition from the local predators, and one day like all bandits they held up the wrong caravan. While they were not all killed, that mage gave them many scars, so much so it cracked what was left of the clan in two, those who wished to stay and those who wished to travel and finder newer territories. Koth was part of the second group, it sounded the right course to find richer lands, sadly it proved their downfall. While the last Caetus might still be out there, clinging on to existence of a sort, the Caetus that left the main group didn’t last long. Arguments over where to go, who should get what supplies and infighting fractured their group until few remained. Koth finally had enough when he saw his brother killed over a single fish, he ended the man in revenge but it was enough, and he left for his own way. Ever since that day, Koth has taken the name silverside instead of Caetus, for the silver mountain he threw murderer down, staining it with his blood. This and other acts have seen Koth grow impulsive as he has aged into manhood, taking food, water, and supplies whenever they are for the taking, wary only of mages from past clan history. Axes remind him of what his clan prided themselves on at one time, strength but use on the land, on trees just as much as predators and unfortunately people. No axe should be given to a lesser man than the weapon deserves.
