Appearance

Race: Inarta(3/4ths inartan 1/4 Svefra but appears to be full Inartan)

Appearance: Standing at a staggering 5’ 9” and weighing in a 176 lbs, Lumina is unusually tall for a female. Add her overall muscular body due to working the forges for a living and she seems an imposing figure. While she is very tall and strong this leaves her being very lanky and unsuited for more delicate things.

Lumina has piercing gold eyes and a slim heavily freckled face. Her often unkempt cascade of hair is a deep red which unadorned by usual trinkets and baubles that her people often like to add. While she cares little for her appearance she will braid it in a single braid to appease those around her, which to most who know her is a temporary thing at best with her.

Due to her work Lumina wears a pair of thick leather pants with matching boot and a plain vinti at most times leaving her midsection and arms completely bare. Attached to her hip is a simple ring holster where she keeps her preferred weapon, long-handled smithing hammer shirking normal bladed weapons.

While overall a plain person Lumina’s hands and arms are pot-marked with small burns and cuts she has obtained during the course of her work and training.
Character Concept

A soft-spoken girl, Lumina was often the target of other youth making fun of her. She was not interested in fighting back and this only caused things to escalate over the years. She had few friends and even then was not very close to them, often preferring a dark corner and book to their company. During her classes, she always went beyond what was expected her often wishing to stay behind and learn more than what had been taught that day or wishing for more detailed information. This translated into her Bendi as well but she quickly found interest in metalworking.

She put her focus into learning metalworking often asking to assist in tasks that were beyond her station, this earned her an apprenticeship the day of her tenth year. She quickly made it clear that she wished to be a smith as her skills grew at a faster pace than the other Apprentices around her. While she brimmed with pride at her growing skill she didn’t flaunt it, often belittling herself to less skill apprentices simply to try and avoid animosity. This however caused a rift between her and may of the others she worked with, which caused her to further withdraw from social activity and solidified her position as a loner.

While Lumina remains soft-spoken and respectful to just about everyone, she is quite aware of her strength and stature, while disliking confrontation she will stand up for herself if push comes to shove.



Character History

Lumina was born to a dredge mother with her father being completely unknown. Her mother Eoli, who was a half-blood that lacked the ability to commune with birds, died in childbirth. This left Lumina without any kind of family from the start of her life and because of her mother being a dredge she was not treated quite as nicely as other children. While this affected her demeanor it did nothing to disway her curiosity, she often got herself in trouble due to wandering places she shouldn’t be or pestering one of her betters for something to learn. After some time the people around her grew used to her constant thirst for knowledge and her troubles lessened.

Upon her Eighth winter, she moved to the youth section of the city, which did little to change her treatment and in some ways made things worse. Children can be cruel and her youth was difficult because of her heritage, but she kept her chin up and kept moving forward. With her thirst for learning so immense Lumina excelled in most of her studies, during which she found a love for metalworking and earned an apprenticeship during her tenth year. While she was in a lot of ways a simple assistant, she would often go above and beyond in her work, doing things that she had not been asked to do. Her mentor, while not always happy about her extra help, did nothing to discourage it as he felt if he did it would be a loss overall if she stopped.

It was during her 13th year that she hit her growth spurt growing taller than everyone around her, perhaps due to her slightly mixed blood. While she grew to her almost amazonian height she struggled with her changing body, she didn’t let it slow her down. While her quickly growing skills created to further the rift with her those around her she.

The day of her 15 winter Lumina was made officially an Alvora, her mentor presented her a hammer made of cold iron as a sort of graduation gift. She spent the next two years happy in her position until she met an outsider who carried a weapon of the likes she had not seen before. This inspired her to grow an interest in weaponsmithing, she kept her usually work up but sought to learn how to craft weapons. It was during this time that she decided that it would be best if she learned how to use the weapons she wished to make and learned to use the hammer given to her effectve as a weapon, not just as a tool.

On her 18th birthday Lumina met her best friend Pip, during a trip to outside she stumbled across the injured magpie. Seeing him in distress she took him in to get his injuries treated, during said time they become something akin to friends. The two of them to this day are near inseparable, to the point that when Lumina is in the forge Pip can be found somewhere nearby.
