Physical Description
Respen stands about 6'1" and weighs 170 lbs. The bulky stature of the young man doesn't stop him from being mistaken for a woman from behind, though, and his long blond braid has led to many unpleasant taunts and mix-ups. From the front it becomes clear that he is indeed not a woman; his sunken brown eyes, freckled face, and straw-like eyebrows are all rather boyish. His skin is fair and oddly red in certain places- seemingly the mark of some type of mild underlying acne, or perhaps just the blush of an awkward youth. He can usually be found wearing a dark blue shirt with long sleeves underneath his heirloom: a back and breast plate. Though the armor is sometimes inconvenient and uncomfortable, Respen prefers to wear it at all times as it gives him a feeling of security and closeness to his parents. When Respen speaks, his voice is warm and deep.

Character Concept
Respen is a young man struggling to decide between becoming a scholar or a guard. He has a sharp mind but rarely shares his thoughts. He is wet behind the ears and, now that he is living alone for the first time, his naivety and inexperience may be his greatest enemies.

Supportive and reliable, Respen is a good friend to have. Even if he has a problem with someone, he won't say anything about it, choosing to repress his feelings instead. This repressive nature can lead to sudden outbursts or days spent moping about as he gets overwhelmed. Though he rarely expresses it, he is quite introspective and therefore enjoys musing over philosophy and other scholarly fields. He is shy and humble, preferring to spend his time in solitude curled up with a good book or perched in a spot where he can observe the Zeltiva University's student life. Despite his fit build, he is often insecure and can therefore be quite meek and awkward in conversing. The only time his will is iron is when it comes to changing things; Respen dislikes change and hates decision-making, so, in general, he likes to stick to traditions and plans.

Character History
Respen has spent his life balancing his desires of scholarly pursuits with the desires of his parents to have him join the Wave Guard. Born in Zeltiva to Elre Enpetor and Cremia Enpetor, both lieutenants in the Wave Guard, Respen was expected from a young age to follow in their footsteps. However, despite his desire to follow tradition and his willingness to learn the skills of sailing and unarmed combat, Respen found himself longing to go a different path: that of the scholar. He devoured books and learned the basics of rhetoric, philosophy, physics, and writing. When he wasn't holed up in his room, he spoke with students of the university and sailors on West Street. He was particularly fascinated by the Svefra and picked up some Fratava while conversing with them. However, he quickly discovered that not all of the strangers on the street were kind. The children of his age often taunted him for his feminine haircut and fair features. Refusing to change his haircut, he instead took up bodybuilding to meet their demands and learned to maintain a bulky physique.

As he entered adolescence, his parents became even more serious about wanting him to join the Wave Guard. He fought with them often, as he was reluctant to go down that path, still wanting to become a scholar or professor instead. After a few hundred fights both parties decided it was time for him to move out.

Now Respen lives alone for the first time in a tiny cottage in the University Quarter. Both a blessing and a curse, Respen's newfound independence gives him the room to explore what he wants to do with his life, but leaves him without easy access to his parents and having to face the struggles of adulthood at an early age.
