Winter 521


Weather


1st – 19th The uncomfortable swelter continues and few things have changed, save for the flaring of the Watchtower.

20th – 25th While the city is surprised by the initial torrent of rain, the precipitation doesn’t let up for five whole days.

26th – 38th The nights and the mornings are slightly colder after the long rain. Most days begin in a light fog which lets up relatively quickly

39th – 57th Most days are cloudy, but there’s seldom any rainfall. Syna is a rare and welcome guest, as most of the sky remains overcast.

58th – 80th The skies clear up. Within the city proper, the weather remains calm and stable. In Matthews Bay, bonesnapper grows in power, making sailing unsafe for most vessels.

80th – 92nd The end of the season looks much like its beginning. As the season draws to a close, there is worry about the long-term water levels in the docks.


Events


3rd The city is abuzz with rumors of token forgers. The guard on the food stores is tightened. No such forger is caught, but the citizen’s guard their tokens very closely.

8th A ghost is sighted in University Quarter. Eye witnesses claim it to be monstrous in form.

12th – 15th The old rumors of a Vantha sighting spark back up within the populace. Most of the voices point towards the water, some even claiming they are hiding among the sailors.

22nd There are mudslides across the city. Denvali quarter is hit especially hard and multiple houses are buried under the rubble. People organize in search of survivors, but the ongoing weather conditions make the search a slow affair.

24th Despite the shower, fishermen are particularly successful on this day. Most inns around the city are in a festive mood.

30th Insects abound in the city. There is talk about pests being found in the food stores, but any such talk is quickly silenced.

32nd – 36th There is a series of robberies in the Ancient quarter which ends as abruptly as it had started. There is word of the thieves using magic, but no evidence can be produced. The Waveguard tightens their patrols around the Quarter in the following days.

45th There are screams heard from the Cemetery for a good portion of the night. Neither the Waveguard nor the Envoyers are making any information public.

53rd The city announces a search for reimancers as it is believed their skills could give some respite from Morwen’s missing influence. Notices are put in all public places, with water reimancy being especially desireable.

60th The completion of a new boat is celebrated by the Sailors Guild. The festivities soon spill over into the surrounding streets, every tavern is packed, and drunken brawls are breaking out in the street. There are rumors that the vessel will soon undertake its maiden voyage.

71st Hit by an especially powerful wind, two trading ships get their rigging tangled, and the smaller one sinks, while the larger escapes with major hull damage. In the following days, the infirmary is packed. The surviving sailors share stories of a highly exotic cargo, but all of their stories seem different from each other. People start getting riled up for a scavenging mission, but the sailors aren’t willing to part with any boats until the snapper lets up.

82nd The wind has died down and search parties are sent out into the bay, hoping to recover the wreckage beneath the water.

87th A group of young people gathers at the Cemetery for a test of courage, but the gathering is cut short when ghosts start joining the event.

92nd There are gatherings all over the city. While fear of famine keeps the tables modest, beer fills the mugs. People are crowding all the public places, and there is even talk about ghosts organizing their own party at the Cemetery.
