Basic Information
Name: Isham, of the tents of Haysham, of the sons of Aysaw
Race: Human (Benshira)
Birthday & Age : 25th of Summer, 494 AV (16 years)
Gender: Male

Physical Description: Isham stands at roughly 5’10” with golden-brown skin and midnight-black hair, gathered in a loose ponytail that rests between his shoulderblades. His chin sports the beginnings of a light goatee as dark as his hair, his hooked nose cresting over pink lips. Isham’s eyes provide a stark contrast, a deep blue so vibrant they almost seem to glow (although this is merely an illusion, in the dark his eyes are as void of color as any other human’s). Hard life among the dune seas of Eyktol has toned his whipcord-thin body into a mass of sinew, bone and muscle, giving him an appearance as fierce as a deadly sandstorm. He dresses in traditional but simple attire: a loose, short-sleeved tunic the color of sand, tied at the waist with blue silk sash, which serves a dual purpose in holding up his ankle-length pants. His feet are hard and calloused within his simple leather sandals, while his light blue coat adds a little color to his outfit. On his head, Isham wears a simple black head covering that doubles as a veil during sandstorms, held in place by a white leather circlet. His scimitar is often tucked into his sash on his left side.

Personality: Isham is a calm and serious man who, compared to other Benshira, tends to be rather stoic. While he loves partying and merrymaking as much as any of his kin, Isham simply keeps his displays of emotion to a minimum, a smile rather than a chuckle, and a chuckle rather than a laugh. As a descendant of Aysaw, Isham is even more headstrong and stubborn than the typical Benshi, and has been compared numerous times to a mule, or even a particularly obstinate camel. A devout follower of Yahal, Isham values honesty and faithfulness, and tends to be rather blunt and forthcoming with his opinions, which can at times lead to some rather awkward situations. Isham bears a strong and open dislike for all types of magic, and will not hesitate in his attempts to “enlighten” the heathen wizard to the error of their ways. While not hotheaded, Isham has no patience for beating around the bush, and prefers direct action to thoughtful contemplation.

Character History: Isham was born in the tents of his father near the holy city of Yahebah. Growing up, the boy was fascinated with tales of Benshiran history as well as the rites of Yahal. The visits from the Sons of Rapa were always awaited with baited breath by the young Benshira, who would then follow the man of faith like a second shadow, soaking up all the knowledge he could. Because he was a descendent of Aysaw and not Rapa, however, it was not Isham’s destiny to be a priest. To distract him from this, his father taught him to be a hunter, learning the way of the desert and how to survive in the harsh, unforgiving sands of Eyktol. While Isham took to these teachings readily enough and indeed showed a fair degree of skill with both the scimitar for bandits and the bow for hunting, in his heart he still desired the mantle of priesthood. He continued his study of religious texts, stubbornly ignoring his family’s attempts at diverting his attentions until they simply accepted it as one of his quirks. Shortly after his sixteenth nameday, however, it would seem that Isham’s dedication had paid off, as he claimed to have received a vision from Yahal in his dreams. Isham claimed that he had been ordered to travel north and spread Yahal’s word. Of course, due to his heritage, his claims were dismissed. Finally when his family’s Tent wandered near the Eyktol-Cyphrus border, Isham stubbornly gathered the necessary supplies and struck out for the grasslands atop his trusty camel, Efram, claiming that his duty to Yahal superseded adherence to traditional tribal custom.
