While Sylira is by far the most civilized region of Mizahar, countless surprises and encounters await the traveler in its rural wilderness. Called the Wildlands, Syliran's wilderness is comprised of gradual rolling hills in the south that become deep wilderness in the north. Ruins abound throughout the wildlands, and only the well-marked roads are safe.

Winter 21, 510 AV

The sun was just rising over the treeline as kain began to stir. Somehow he had managed to sleep all through the night, having fallen asleep stareing up at iris's beautiful face. He had dreamed of it, well not only her but she was in it. In fact, he had dreamed of the two people who had made him feel the way he felt last night. Iris and the man he had met earlier, Kendall. The one who he was chasing after. They had been fighting in his dream, both contending for his attention. He wasnt sure if it was simply what he wanted to happen, or if it really would happen. And he didnt care. He wanted Iris to win the fight in his dream, cause that would mean he was normal. Not a freak like his old mentor had called him.

As he opened his eye's he realised his head was resting on Iris's shoulder, one arm around her her waist. The proximity of her caused certain emotions to go through his mind and a physical reaction to those emotions occur. He knew he had to move, or he would wake her up and she'ed notice. But if he moved he was sure she would wake up and notice anyways. Such a cunomdrum.

It was just getting worse, the more he looked at her sleeping face. Eventually he knew he couldnt lie down any more and rolled over quickly, probably wakeing her up in the process without meaning to. His hands covering his crotch he curled up into a ball trying to clear his thoughts of kendall and Iris. Though thinking about it didnt help to achieve that. He groaned to himself, why did this have to happen when he was traveling with someone?

Waking up to a new day(Iris)

Postby Iris Dove on February 3rd, 2011, 12:14 am

Iris had been sleeping soundly, dreaming that she was soaring through the sky, the wind rustling her white feathers. Her eyes looking down at the world below her. The world that was so far away that all of its inhabitants appeared to be tiny ants, and the terrain seemed nothing more than green, brown, and blue blobs. Like a poorly done painting, a child's first true masterpiece. Iris cooed, it didn't matter how the earth looked from way up in the sky, it was still beautiful to her. But it didn't call to her the way the sky did. It didn't embrace her like the wind that surrounded her wings, or the fluffy white clouds that circled her head, or the sun's rays which stretched out its hands to stroke the tips of her feathers. Iris smiled, or she would if a dove truly could anyway.

Suddenly, Iris was jerked awake as the sun came shining down and into her eyes. She scrunched up her eyes. She was having such a pleasant dream that she didn't want to open them just yet. Iris hoped that if she kept them shut, it would allow the feeling of freedom she had just experienced in the dream world to linger a little longer. But the feeling was not something she could currently feel or grasp. It was a mere memory now. Disheartened, and knowing that she couldn't just slip back into slumber now, she slowly raised her tiny hands to her eyes, and rubbed the corners of them with her pale fingertips. When she was certain she had gotten all the sleep crystals out, she placed her hands in her lap, and slowly opened her eyes. She was squinting since the sun's rays were heading directly towards them, and it stung to open them fully.

Iris looked around. Kain was no longer resting beside her, so she automatically assumed he had gotten up before her. She finally spotted him a few moments later, he had curled up into a ball a few feet way to Iris' left. Funny, she didn't think it normal for a human to sit like that. Iris tilted her head to the side, slightly confused. "Morning, you feeling any better today Kain? You look a little better, your color is back, for the most part, which has to be a good sign, right?" Iris paused, he still seemed to be... sweating? His face was glowing a bit. "But on second thought, are you warm? You seem to be sweating a bit."

Concerned, Iris got to her feet and walked over to him, she knelt down behind him and began to rub Kain's back with her hands. "Did you sleep ok? Or did your head hurt too much? I could always go find something to eat if you want to try and rest some more," Iris offered, her hands making tiny circles along Kain's back, her eyes fixed on his face, on his eyes. Did he seem nervous? Uncomfortable? Was she doing something to upset him? Instantly, Iris dropped her hands, they rested on her knees. "Sorry, do you not like that? Was... was it ok?"

Embarrassed at the possibility that she may have come off to bold, Iris muttered "sorry" again, and got to her feet. She crossed over to the small pile of blackened twigs and ash where her fire used to be, it must have gone out sometime during the night, she thought. Thank goodness it wasn't too cold, because she certainly wasn't in the mood to make another one. "What would you like for breakfast?" Iris asked, trying to cover up her reddening cheeks; how embarrassed and bad she felt for touching him. She couldn't help but feel as though she had done something wrong, even though she had only been trying to make Kain feel better. Nervous, she bit her bottom lip and waited for Kain's answer.

Waking up to a new day(Iris)

He had been right. Moving away frim Iris had woken her up. Good thing he had moved fast enough to turn his back to her. How embarressing would it have been if she had woken up to that? With that thought, He started to turn redder. Then Iris spoke, and he turned as red as possible all over his body. She had noticed his embarressment, and would soon figure out what was causing it. This was a total disaster!

"uh yea, i'm alright now. No headache anymore, uh...just had a...peculiar dream that's all." He thought he managed that fine, till she started rubbing his back. A twinge in between his legs made itself known to him, as his problem resurfaced and he leaned forward more, trying to cover it as his embaressment levels rose if that was possible. He realised he had hurt her feelings by doing so though. He hadnt meant to, it actually felt good for her to do that but he couldnt handle that right now...he wish he could say something, but doing so would only embaress him even more!

"No it's ok, it's fine...it's just that uh...what was that about food?" he had to change the subject, he didnt want to lie to her and telling the truth was embaressing. "Um well i'm not sure...i uh brought some trail food to last us. but if you can hunt or gather, i'm sure we could make something better then that dried meat and fruits"

Waking up to a new day(Iris)

Postby Iris Dove on February 3rd, 2011, 5:16 am

Iris sighed, what a strange person, she thought, as his face grew beet red. "Sure you're alright?" she asked, one last time, tilting her head slightly to the side, wondering why he was so darn red. Was he angry? Embarrassed about something? About her rubbing his back and trying to make him feel better? Iris shook her head, she certainly didn't understand human behavior. Shrugging, she said, "I'll go and try to find something to eat, maybe you should make a fire or something in the mean time," and with that, Iris turned abruptly on her heels, strode over to her bag, and slung it over her shoulder. "I'll be back as soon as I can," Iris called over her shoulder as she stepped over small pebbles and small swirls of dust twisted around her feet.

She walked silently for a long time, looking up at the sky that seemed so very far away. Thankfully, it was a sunny day, and very few fluffy white clouds dotted the sky, assuring Iris that it would more than likely stay that way for quite some time. She smiled pleasantly as she walked along, not truly paying too much attention to where she was going while she searched for food. She wondered how Kain was doing, if he was starting a fire or feeding the pony, or perhaps even himself. There wasn't much for Iris to think about, other than how the gravel beneath her feet was rough, and her legs were growing tired and stiff, and how her stomach rumbled softly. But even so, she wondered why her mind had wandered off to her traveling companion; especially his piercing blue eyes, nothing like the sky, and nothing like the sea. Usually, blue eyes were like one or the other, at least in Iris' opinion, but his were neither, they were more like a blend of the two... like ice, even though they weren't cold or icy looking. Iris sighed, she wondered how she could find something so beautiful if she couldn't even find the words to describe them or how they made her feel.

Iris looked down at her feet, she had started stepping over a series of green shrubs. They were small, and close to the ground. Their leaves were green, small, and shaped like a teardrop. Iris dropped to her knees to look at them more closely. She lowered her neck to smell them, but the plant had no scent, at least, not one that she could discern anyway. Thinking it best not to try her luck with some sort of mysterious plant, Iris got back up and continued on her search.

As she walked along she started to smell something... something strangely refreshing. Iris instinctively followed her nose to the source of the smell. When she happened upon the plant she was certain was producing that lovely smell, she closed her eyes and bowed at the waist. She sniffed the tiny foot tall plant that rested at her feet. The plant had a hairy green stem, and toothed, hairless leaves. The leaves were tiny, maybe three inches long, and divided into segments. The flower closely resembled that of a daisy, but smaller. Feeling refreshed, Iris opened her eyes, and decided to gather the plant simply because it smelled so nice, if for nothing else. After all, Iris wasn't sure she could even eat the thing, maybe Kain would know, she thought, as she opened her eyes again and reached into her bag. She pulled out her eating knife with her right hand, with the fingers of her left hand, she gripped the top of the flowers, and slowly, brought the blade across the bottom of the stem, slowly slicing through them. It didn't take Iris long to cut the flowers, and as soon as she had finished, she put her knife back in her pack and got up. She brought the flowers to her nostrils one last time, allowing herself to take in their subtle sent before gingerly placing them in the front pocket of her bag.

Iris looked up at the sky, the sun was steadily crawling higher and higher. She sighed, she should be getting back to Kain soon, she didn't want him to worry about her, even if she did come back, essentially empty-handed. Did nice smelling flowers count as a food source to him? Iris wondered, or would such things only cut it for her? Or perhaps a rabbit or something. Shrugging, Iris skipped merrily back in the direction in which she left Kain and the pony. She skipped along, kicking rocks out ahead of her from time to time, the ground reacting with an angry outburst of dust, but nothing more. It was eerily silent, even though her steps seemed to echo, softly through the mountains; everything seemed still; silent. And her journey back seemed to be taking a long time.

Finally, Iris reached the spot where she was certain she had left Kain, after all, she spotted the pony still tied to the tree, angrily stomping on the ground. His tail swishing, his nostrils flaring as he snorted. Maybe he wanted someone to brush him? Or something to eat, Iris thought as she walked up beside the pony and patted his nose. "We should get you something, but I don't know what you like," Iris whispered, as she looked past the pony, wondering where Kain had gotten to, she didn't see him anywhere.

"Kain?" Iris called, as the pony's ears twitched and his feet stomped on the ground some more. The shape of its horseshoes imbedding themselves in the dirt. "Kain?" Iris called again, ignoring the fact that the echoing and loud noise may be upsetting the horse, who was snorting even more loudly now. Iris walked away from the horse, trailing her hand along its side as she walked, looking for her companion. "I brought... flowers," Iris said, pulling them out of her bag and holding them tightly in her hands. The stems were starting to wilt, and the hairs on the stems tickled her skin. "They smell nice, but I am not sure if they are edible... sorry, but I didn't find much," she called.

The mystery plant is... :
Feverfew!
