The Tombstone Mercantile

Image

With a somber, marble exterior, the Tombstone Mercantile is the largest of the tomb-like buildings in Black Rock. It is a mixture of general store and grocery store. It serves as the general goods store for dried goods like spices, baking supplies, syrups, corns, flours and other dried goods, as well as carrying a number of tools, items, and trade goods not made by the blacksmith that were either imported or made by other residents of Black Rock, and some, but very few, outdoors supplies.

The inside of the mercantile is lined with labeled barrels and shelves and racks, holding everything from things like paper to writing supplies to bolts of cloth. The barrels contain syrups, flours, corns, and other dried goods, while the spices are in large glass jars. Customers can come up to the counter and tell whomever is tending it what they need, and the employee will get it and weigh it out for them (if needed) in brown paper sacks or in glass (or tin) jars. It's not unusual for any of the family--living or dead--to help out, especially seeing the current owner is only a youngster - her dead family helps her deal with the place and customers.

The Tombstone Mercantile accepts only barter, Ashl, or Bikka. For stock and prices, please see the price lists.

The NPCs

Secret :

Adriana de Silva: Owner
Adriana is the surviving member of the de Silva family. She lost both parents and her siblings while they were on a trip visiting family in the north mainland when she was ten years old. They never made it back. Adriana remembered waking up and seeing a family of ghosts around her, only to recognize them as her family. A month later, word arrived saying that her family had been killed. Well, she already knew that, didn't she? Regardless, the Tombstone went to her, as the only surviving family member, and she looks after it with the help of her protective parents and two older siblings. Once a laughing child, she is a somber teenager who rarely laughs.

Gloria de Silva: Adriana's Mother
Gloria de Silva is Adriana's mother who helps run the Tombstone Mercantile. She is, however, dead. As a ghost, she, Ernesto, Ysabella, and Luis returned to Black Rock to look after Adriana, the youngest, and to help her run the Mercantile. She is the mother of Ysabella and Luis, and was married to Ernesto.

Ernesto de Silva: Adriana's Father
One of the resident ghosts of the Tombstone Mercantile, Ernesto is Adriana's father. He used to own and run the Mercantile with the help of the family. However, he was killed along with his family during a trip on the mainland. He was married to Gloria, and is also the father of Ysabella and Luis.

Image
Ysabella de Silva: Adriana's Older Sister
Ysabella, the oldest, was 21 years old when she died with her parents and younger brother. She is the older sister of Adriana, and helps in the Mercantile. She is known for her nasty sense of humour, and has supposedly been warned by the Omens about it. More than once she has confronted a living customer who overwhelmed Adriana, and repeatedly she has thrown out non-natives for disrespect.

Luis de Silva: Adriana's Older Brother
Luis, the middle child of Ernesto and Gloria, was three years younger than Ysabella and eight years older than Adriana. He is efficient and silent, and few people outside the family has heard the ghost speak. He blames himself for the deaths of his parents and sister, although he keeps this to himself. He helps out in the Mercantile, and can often be found in a hammock over the counter, keeping an eye on things when he's not helping customers.
