The Shroud White and tomb-like on the outside, the Shroud is Black Rock's clothing and apparel store. Run by Zynna Kelane, a Benshira who left the heat of the Eyktoli desert for the moderate climes on the island of death. Skillful at weaving, she found a job with Marren Sands, the old tailor and owner of the Shroud. When he retired, she took it over for him. The Shroud is a fairly relaxing place, filled with fabrics, threads, and other supplies. Zynna has racks of ready-made clothes available in different sizes besides custom work. Heavier garments are folded in stacks on shelves on the wall. Wooden mannequins display the different types of gear available. Woven rugs and shawls are on display on the wall, some of Zynna's handicraft. Her 'office', or, rather, her workshop is in the back, but she likes to bring various projects out with her to the main floor to watch the shop. She can often be found weaving, enjoying a nice cup of tea, or talking with Maura, the resident ghost. Zynna carries a decently-sized inventory. For prices, see the price lists. The cost of custom work does vary depending on what is requested. Zynna only accepts the Ashl or Bikka, but she will barter. The NPCs Secret : Zynna Kelane: Owner, Tailor Zynna of the sons of Havid, gave herself the last name of Kelane when she first came to Black Rock. Her entire family was wiped out in Eyktol, and not knowing what else to do or where to go, her sense of direction, and self, obliterated, Zynna expected to die on her lonesome in the barren, treacherous land. Instead, she looked up into the faces of a pair of jackals, one black, one white, and beyond them a woman robed in black, a hood obscuring her face, a scythe in her hand. "It is not your time yet. Go south," the woman offered her a water skin, and Zynna accepted it, and found the strength to carry on. South she went, and south took her to Black Rock. An accomplished weaver and seamstress in her own right, she got a job at the Shroud, and took over it when the previous owner, Marren Sands, decided to retire. She can usually be found working or sipping tea and chatting with Maura. Maura: Resident Ghost Maura is the resident ghost of the Shroud. While she appears to be Benshira in appearance, little is known about her, except perhaps by Zynna. She moved into the shop some time ago when Zynna was working there as an apprentice. She appeared in Black Rock twenty-odd years ago, to the best of anyone's recollection. She seems reserved, even somewhat sad, sometimes, but is friendly, however, particularly with children, going out of her way to greet them when she sees them.
