Gender: Male Physical Description Gareth is strong and youthful, with smooth skin and an almost femininely pretty face. His medium length hair is blonde with a slight mixing of light brown and simply brushed back. His eyes are blue and his eyelashes are long, with dainty eyebrows. It has been said often that he takes heavily after his mother's good looks, and it is something quite guaranteed to annoy him immensely if said where he can hear. To him, having a pretty face is an embarrassing curse not befitting a true knight. At a rough estimate, he weighs about 165lbs and stands at around 5'8. His sense of style is usually quite extraordinary, though most of the time he's not actually trying to be stylish. Whatever it is that he wears, he wears it well, and this fact only adds to his embarrassment. His favorite color is the crimson of the Brock family crest, and he prefers his metal armor made with a tinting of copper to give it a nice rust-colored hue. There is quite a lot of pride in the appearance of his armor and weapons, so he often painstakingly burnishes his armor to give them a bright reflective sheen and cleans his swords. This often ends up making people accuse him of being a pretty-boy all the more. The cloak most often seen on his back is a gift from his father. The upper quarter that sits about the neck and shoulders is made of a thick layer of white wolf fur, but the rest of cloak is quality soft white wool. Stitched about the border are galloping red stallions, hallmark of the Brock family crest. It's unlikely anyone but another from the First Wing families would recognize the symbol. Character Concept Being born from a noble family like the Brock is sometimes difficult on a youth. Where other people grow and learn a variety of things, figuring out what it is they wish to do with their lives, Gareth really had very little choice in the matter. It wasn't that he was forced on the path to knighthood, it was that to do anything else would be so much more difficult. Since he was a boy he was raised and trained as though he were already a page or squire. When other boys were running about getting into trouble, Gareth was being taught history or trained to ride or made to attend to his knightly relative's needs as a page. The problem is not that the boy doesn't love the lifestyle. To be anything but a knight is unthinkable, it is in his blood and deep to his bones. He was made for it. But a small part of him has a certain longing to know things besides knightly endeavors. It would be refreshing to do things without thought to honor and chivalry and truth. It would be refreshing to have no duties to worry about. It would be refreshing to simply be a young man in the city. Overall, Gareth is a passionate young person trying to restrain himself. He has a temper, but he knows it and tries his best to subdue it in order to be more 'knightly'. He wishes to dawdle with pretty girls, but that is activity not becoming a noble First Wing family's son. He is tempted to lie, but must always worship Tyveth with only honesty. His driving motivation in life is to be a knight like all his siblings and all his cousins and all his relatives before him, but it is not always easy. In his rare bouts of free time, he enjoys riding. Like the legendary founder of his family, Gregor, he has a certain affinity for riding and jousting. A great many agree that the young Gareth will be a truly master horseman one day, expectations that further weigh upon the squire. Character History Gareth Brock was born the youngest son of Captain Knight Nathan Brock and Sergeant Knight Ayleth Brock, both of considerable talent and honor. He has two older brothers, eldest by six years being Knight Maelwys Brock and then by four years is Knight Borin Brock. There has always been a tense rivalry between his brothers of which will become the greatest knight, even when their father scolds them for their vanity. The boy formally became a page at the age of 10, though he was actually performing similar duties even before that. Nathan Brock was often too busy with his post to be much of a 'family man' and Ayleth had similar difficulty in finding the time to be a mother to her children. Luckily the old adage that it takes a knightly order to raise a child proved true, and so Gareth thinks of many of the older knights as more like Uncles or Aunts. The family he served as a page holds a special place for him, as near to blood family as can be. As a page and then young squire, Gareth attended to the Druva family of knights. He learned a great deal even as an awkwardly growing teenager, especially how to be confident. However, his father Nathan gave him the single most influential lesson of his life: his first joust. It was a very rare event to be personally trained by his busy father, and the experience has shaped him immensely. Since then, he has loved to ride and is becoming known for it. Now he is an adult squire preparing for knighthood, though it would be accurate to say he's been preparing for that since he was born. The knight he is officially sired to is Knight Alevadra Druva, someone he's known for a very long time and internally sees as something like a sister.
