Quinn
“Because I‘m free! Remember that. Every choice I made, wrong or right… at least I was the one who made it”

Basic Information

Race: Mixed Blood (Kelvic/Myrian)
Birthday & Age : 27th Day of Summer, 488 (22 years old)
Gender: Male

Physical Description
Quinn stands at 5’11” weights approximately 150 lbs and is somewhat lankier than a typical Myrian. Also, due to his fathers Kelvic influence he has a far lighter complexion than most Myrians, however he retains the dark brown hair and dark green eyes of his mother.

He is strong and lean, yet is not fit in the way a warrior or a soldier is built. His strength comes from the fitness required to be a wanderer and survive out on ones own as opposed to the muscular build of one who conditions himself for battle.

He sometimes appears unkempt and almost wild, and his muddy green eyes hold a strange glint and possess an almost unnatural, seemingly forced depth, a whisper to the Kelvic blood within his veins. Due to his lighter complexion and his lack of the traditional long hair, his Myrian heritage is something that is oft overlooked.

Character Concept
The product of a Kelvic Father and a Myrian Mother Quinn is of a strange breed. He possess no Kelvic transformation, the only signs of what he may have been is his abnormally keen sense of smell.

Quinn is a wanderer, through and through. He has a lust for freedom that drives him onward, belonging nowhere, he travels everywhere. He is proud and determined, often to a fault, set on proving that he can make his own way in the world. He seems distant sometimes, refusing to let others close to him, it is hard to know what his motives for this are, be they caution or true indifference to those around him. Despite this distance, a deep seated longing for companionship lingers within him, he wishes to belong, and something deep within him oft times feels homesick for a place he knows doesn’t exist, however due his own sense of pride, he would never admit such a thing.

As a wanderer he has sometimes insatiable curiosity, despite his inpatients for formal education, he longs to learn anything and everything. The world fascinates him, of this there is no doubt, this animalistic curiosity being yet another testament to his heritage.

Animalistic is indeed a good word to describe at least certain aspects of Quinn’s personality. Being predominantly Myrian he has a ferocity and drive within him that mingles well with his more subdued Kelvic qualities. While some might argue that his fathers genes only served to dilute the Myrian within him, it is clear that he is indeed his fathers son.

He loves wandering, feeling at home in the wilds. He seems unbeholden to and almost frightened by the idea of traditional religion or social structure, the idea of it seems almost unnatural to him, something that caused him great consternation while growing up in Myrian culture. Also, despite his apparent indifference towards other, when someone does enter into Quinns company he will defend them with a loyalty only befitting of a Kelvic and a ferocity that could only be Myrian.

Ethics
Unsurprisingly Quinn holds to his own set of moral principals as opposed to those set forth by others. He does have a defined sense of what is right and wrong but to him things are never black and white. Much like he views himself, he views the world as existing in a gray area. He is not above lying and stealing to get what he needs, and he is not above resulting to violence to stand up for what he believes is right. He does not enjoy hurting others, but will not hesitate to harm those who would harm him or his.

What is right and wrong sometimes goes beyond what is considered good and bad.
Character History

Pre-Creation
“I may not always win… But I will never be defeated”
His father was a Kelvic Wolf whom met his mother while he was traveling though Taloba, as Kelvics sometimes do. Quinn was born during the monsoons in the summer of 488, for reasons Quinn is not aware of his mother allowed his father to pick his name, forgoing a more traditional Myrian name. This, coupled with the his lighter complexion and his lankier build lead to Quinn having a challenging time growing up in Taloba. He was pushed harder by the other children, and often times felt isolated, finding it very difficult to fit into the culture as a Myrian.

He was also easily distracted, the daily tasks and schooling unable to hold his concentration. This too lead the young Quinn into trouble, laziness was not abided, and the young mixed blood was often disciplined when he failed to provide the tasks he was given with adequate attention. Despite all this, his mother raised him as a Myrian, giving him no quarter. She would tell Quinn often that he was no different, that he was no less than anyone else within the walls of Taloba, that he was just as much a Myrian as anyone else within the fortress walls… Despite this, Quinn was indeed different.

His father would sometimes take him for walks outside the city walls, through the jungles. He would tell Quinn stories of the world, some somber, and some light-hearted, some plain, some fantastical. The stories captivated Quinn, guided his already active imagination to worlds far beyond the jungle to places he could only imagine. He loved these times with his father, times when he didn't feel the wight of having to be Myrian push down upon him. However, one day his father left when Quinn was nine years old… It wasn't uncommon for relationships to end in Taloba, so no one thought much of it. Quinn stayed with his mother, as was expected…

Despite everything, Quinn tried to be a Myrian. Despite his wandering mind he did what was asked of him, he trained himself as the other children trained, and he completed his studies. However, as he got older, things began to change for Quinn. He began to doubt, he felt as though more and more that this life was becoming set, permanent. And as he turned fifteen, he panicked.

He was coming of age, he would, like all Myrians, spend time in the Military… and it was at this time that Myri often gifted young Myrians with their first marking. Something about this filled him with what could only be described as dread… If he accepted the mark, would that not mean he was fixed… branded? Bound to this life, to this culture? If he lived his life by others choices… how was that different from slavery? Or…

What if she didn't grant him her mark? What if the others were right? That he wasn't a Myrian, he wasn't as worthy. It was true, he could not deny that what made a Myrian and Myrian was diluted within him, his ferocity wasn’t as strong, his will not as ruthless. So… Quinn ran.

He would justify it in different ways to himself, but when it came down to it, fear was the deciding factor. His fear had driven him to run, to live as the wanderer he became. It was fear… and it is something that causes a shame within him. He doesn't regret this, he is proud of the choice he made… but still, when he encounters a Myrian, or thinks back to it, sometimes he can’t help but feel the sting of shame that came along with that fear… with running.

Seven years since then Quinn has wandered, traveling from place to place, a vagabond, normally traveling with merchants or traders whenever he can. He seems to have truly accepted his position as a mixed blood. Cutting the long hair he wore in Taloba and accepting that in some ways, he just couldn’t belong. To put emphasis on this he has somewhat recently found his way to the Taldera region. A far cry from what he is used to, truly giving him the feeling of being a fish out of water.
