Riley Winterflame Race: Vantha Birthdate: 61st Day of Fall, 490AV Age: 20 Gender: Female Physical Description Riley is a Vantha born and raised in Avanthal with dark hair and color changing irises to prove it. Standing only at 5’ tall, and weighing no more than 140lbs, most would consider Riley to be a very weak and frail young girl. Where her hair has no streaks of color in it, her hair does have a very deep and dark tint of violet that shimmers through when she stands in the open and bright sunlight. Not alike most Vantha however, Riley’s skin has a far lighter complexion than most and makes her easy to find in a crowd. Riley’s hands and feet are small alike the rest of her body and are very clean, smooth, and free of any major scars or cuts. Most would believe Riley to have never worked a single day in her life due to the flawlessness of her skin, reality is she truly only does the bare minimal to pass the day by and tend to relax the day away. She is popularly found wearing all black everywhere she goes and only stays warm with the coat she has to wear during the cold days. Otherwise, Riley wears skin tight clothing on a normal basis and isn’t afraid to show more skin than most are comfortable with. Being a bit of a rebel in her own way, Riley tends to dress with a more rugged look and happily wears the ‘I just rolled out of bed’ look. Even though she does her best to look her best, Riley does tend to think that being comfortable all the time is far more important than looking her best. Riley is almost never found wearing any type of make-up and rarely brushes her hair unless she notices a large amount of knots in it one day. Character Concept Riley is a very blunt and outgoing person who will tell anyone how she feels about anything even if she doesn’t know the person. She is extremely playful and tends to treat complete strangers no different from people she knows very well. Since Riley has never met her parents, the rest of the village took the responsibility to try and raise her from infantry to adulthood. Her attitude was very laid back yet very open to trying new things at almost any time. Riley tends to prefer hands on and exciting tasks and loves to swim even though the water in Avanthal isn’t the most ideal to swim in. At a very young age, Riley found that she was attracted to both men and women, but had a preference for other women over men. Her reason was since she found most men only looked at women as sex tools, house slaves, or some other ‘object’, and has distaste for almost every man. Another reason Riley finds herself disliking men is because during her teenage years she was raped by a man and never told anyone about it. Riley does still warm up to men, however it takes a much longer time to gain any bit of her trust at all.

Character History Riley’s father was killed in a hunting accident while her mother died giving birth to her; because of this, friends and family of her parents took it upon themselves to raise the young girl. Her parents were known as very nice people and were known by at least a handful of people in each Hold of Avanthal. Being given the name of Winterflame, Riley was known to be one of the village’s cooks; however, she was more likely to be found near a different Hold rather than her own. For as long as she could remember, Riley always hated repetition, and loved doing things with her hands. Hunting was interesting to her, but always got boring when something didn’t show up right away, sculpting was wonderful for her, but she never finished a single piece of art. Riley was also very well known to do as little work as she could and then find a nice, dark, and quiet location to rest and look up at the sky. During the night, when most of Avanthal was asleep, Riley would easily be found walking around or looking up at the night’s sky. Something about the stars always seemed to call to her, even though she never could figure out what it was. Riley was found outside at night only simply because she could never seem to sleep, and she couldn’t figure out why that was either. This did not bother her as much however cause her best friend was only awake at night, Paige, her Snowy Owl. Paige and Riley have been together ever since Riley was born, and they were easily found together at night, every night. When Riley was about fifteen year old and still in the village, one of the men who was seventeen at the time, came up to her and propose to her, asking if when she came to age, if she would accept him as her husband. Riley quickly declined and turned her back on the man and started walking away, the young man became furious with her inconsiderate way of answering and grabbed her by the shoulder. He turned Riley around and grabbed Riley by the throat declaring that if she would never accept a man, then it was his duty to force her to love men again. He dragged her off into the forest, stripped her of her clothing and raped her in the middle of broad daylight. When he was finally done with her, she just simply laid there, crying to herself, by herself, and waited for the night to eventually cover her shame. Before the night had come, Paige came looking for her and was showing that she was indeed worried for Riley and wanted to help. This brightened her mood slightly but never again had Riley trusted a man with ease, and she always carried a weapon because of it. Going through life and never finding a husband officially marked Riley as a hopeless or Icemaiden and no one gave her a chance to find her own love. By this time, almost all of the village agreed that Riley was indeed a hopeless woman, unable to find a husband, not an expert in any profession, and often found not doing her work. Riley of course didn’t care what everyone thought of her, but continued living her life the way that she wanted to live. She figured that if someone had given her the ‘gift of life’ that she should live that life to its full use. If her theory is true however, and there truly is no god or group of gods, then she can live her life however she wants anyways because it’s just her life, and no one else’s.
