The Wilderness of Cyphrus is an endless sea of tall grass that rolls just like the oceans themselves. Geysers kiss the sky with their steamy breath, and mysterious craters create microworlds all their own. But above all danger lives here in the tall grass in the form of fierce wild creatures; elegant serpents that swim through the land like whales through the ocean and fierce packs of glassbeaks that hunt in packs which are only kept at bay by fires. Traverse it carefully, with a guide if possible, for those that venture alone endanger themselves in countless ways.

Summer 12, 510 A.V.

It was a warm sunset like most found on the endless grassy plains. An Isur found himself with a need to stretch his legs after a lengthy time riding idly in the back of a wooden wagon. Most of the caravan denizens had started to gather round small campfires to cook their meals and socialize before turning in for the night. Compared to this Isur named Trios they had to make sure they were up before dawn to keep their wagons on schedulable towards Riverfall.

Stopping on a slight incline Trios cast a glance to the sunset, then to the caravan which was not to far away in case of trouble rearing it’s ugly head. Trios leaned on his wooden log of a cane as he gazed where the endless grass touched endless red sky. Stories of Glassbeak’s ferocity and surprising intelligence had slightly intrigued the Isur having only heard brief descriptions in tales. Fascination at the predator’s reputation made Trios respect the beast compared to the amount of fear that the creature usually instilled. Trios would however not admit it to himself but that this was a reason he kept close to the campground and kept a wary eye for any thing that would take him for their next meal. Plus it came in handy to have good night vision if the grasslands got a bit too dark too fast on the Isur. Unlike most of the human caravan patrons, Trios’s eyes weren’t useless when the sun went down.

A small nightly breeze made Trios’s large leather hat and ocean blue beard rustle as the pale blue rock of man continued his route to encircle the campground before turning in for the night. Or maybe, thought the Isur considering his options, he’d cook some of the wild game that he had bought. Neither he nor Conrad was the best of cooks but the two outcasts of the caravan had managed to make their meals somewhat eatable if some form of meal preparation was needed. Thinking back on the last meal Trios was glad apples and carrots could be eaten raw, it was a simple meal but at least their bellies and energy remained full.

Stumbling a bit out of stride, a sting of pain shot through the Isur’s bum right. The pain in the leg causing Trios to utter a small sting of curses that, only a hardened man would have picked up over the years. Conrad had recommended that the leg would be better off if he stretched it out every so often to ensure the muscles didn’t degrade from the lack of use. Seeing as this was the only time to do so, Trios had decided to listen to the doctor’s advice. So the muscled man in his baggy leather attire would continue his brief walk his frame outlined against the deep red sky.

Three Worlds [Conrad][Jakri]

Postby Jakri on August 1st, 2011, 9:59 am

Jakri was walking the plains. An outcast from his little colony he no longer had anywhere to go. He decided that he would move to somewhere else. Maybe in a different region and continue to learn to reach his aspirations. As a Zith it was easy to navigate the night. Even easier to spot a fire which made a little blinding white spot in his field of vision. A caravan. Maybe they can point him at the right direction. Putting on his glasses to mask his features, Jakri started walking towards the source of the fire.

Not too far from it he spotted another. All alone away from the rest of the cavaran group. His predatory instincts kicked in, telling him to go for the kill. A animal seperated from the rest of the pack is easy prey. But Jakri tried to calm himself down. He did not want to be known to everyone else as a Zith. To help him with this he started going over. Holding on to his glasses "Glasses...check", tightening his gloves "Gloves...check", and tugging at his folded wings "Wings as a cape...check". Now that he has confirmed that he had done all he could to disguise the fact that he is a Zith, Jakri picked up the pace towards the man.

Now that he would only be a few steps away he waved his hands to hail in greeting. Getting closer he spoke out "Hello...person? I am Jakri, a bit lost out here...do you think you can help?"

Three Worlds [Conrad][Jakri]

“Hahahahaha, do I look like one of these grassland locals” Barked Trios laughing at the idiotic question posed by the random figure that came walking out of the tall grasses. The Isur found it quite humorous that anyone would ask him for directions here. Also the fact that someone had just walked from the wilderness into the campground to ask for directions, just seemed out of place.

“And your common sounds like shit….Jakri is it?…What the?” Trios casualy turned to face the intruder only to find that his appeal had matched the unusual nature of his approach. Also this newcomer’s common was slightly off, but it was still understandable. Trios raised an eyebrow at Jakri’s cape and goggles this wasn’t seen commonly seen on neither the native Drykas nor the caravan patrons.

Still the strange attire wasn’t enough to raise any mental alarm since Trios was a stranger to this land. Jakri could in all honestly be just be a Drykas with a unique sense of taste in clothing. But once the thoughts about what this particular being chose to wear subsided, Trios would finish his statement.

“You’re a good few days from Endrykas, Drykas….I thought you grassland riders were supposed to be one with the land” Chuckled Trios at the notion of a Drykas being lost in the Sea of Grass. In all honestly Trios had thought that this idea of being one with the land was just a self inflated lie anyway to make the locals feel superior anyway.

Jakri wanted nothing more than to give in to his instincts and try to rend the man limb from limb. He was just plain...insulting. How can prey say something like that? But still he needed some help so he grasped one hand with the other tightly. Using the pain to keep him focused and calm.

Jakri started looking over himself again. Was something in his disguise off? How could this man mistake him as a Drykas? Drykas were one of the people in this lands which like to hunt down Zith. Zith like Jakri. But the man in front of him was no Drykas himself, even if the way he spoke can be used as any indication. Jakri has had some encounters with the Drykas before and none were like the man before him so he's just going to let the traveler off the hook.

"Jakri is no Drykas. He is...person...like you. And I don't want to go to the horsepeople. I want to get to the sea." Jakri explained hoping to get what he needed.

Three Worlds [Conrad][Jakri]

“You want to go to the Sea?! Hahahaha Don’t we all, don’t we all! Just pick a direction and keep walking you’ll hit water soon enough” This rather amusing Jakri kept making himself seem more crazed than that of an average rational person. To Trios this goggled man just seemed that he was just trying to find any sort of waterfront out of a sheer simple whimsical desire. Leaning on his large wooden cane, the muscled Isur casted cold glances at the creature before him as if trying to sum it up.

It was interesting to know that Jakri wasn’t a Drykas than could he be just a wondering human of the grasslands? The world was too big and full of many things if one thought hard, so this man could really be anything. But the Isur thought it was time to cut the strange wonderer a break, after all entertainment was hard to come by on this flat grassland.

“You gotta be a bit more specific, like the Suvan Sea or do you just fancy to find any old waterfront? “ Said Trios, a slight arrogant grin cracking his stone exterior. Jakri’s response, thought Trios would most likely cause him to find more amusement out of this strange individual who stood before him. It might have been a better idea for Jakri to ask of the Isur to knock some sense into his skull with the cane before asking such a vague question.

Jakri facepalmed at the man's words. As if he didn't know that. But it was something he said. "Don't we all!" Does this man want to go to the sea too? Jakri did not notice the cold stares he was getting. He was still not used to people other than Zith, unless they were running for their lives or working as slaves. "You said don't we all. You want to go to the sea too?"

Jakri watched the man expectantly was he waited for the answer. And he was still pondering on the next question. What does he mean by Suvan or waterfront? "What are those places? I just want to get on a ship and sail freely on the seas. Like those..." Jakri paused. Pillaging and plundering were considered pretty bad, just as bad as Zith were to other people. "...other people"

Three Worlds [Conrad][Jakri]

“Do I want to go to the sea…… I wouldn’t be a man of the sea if I didn’t.” Replied Trios quickly waving off the topic about himself quickly as if he had other things on his mind at the moment.

It was petching hard to take this man seriously. Not knowing the slightest thing about the names of the sea was a huge indication that this Jakri had never really been sailing on any body of water, a greenhorn to be exact. But still he wanted to sail for the simple reason of living freely. And whoever these other people Jakri wanted to in imitate was lost in the translation to Trios, even if the Isur understood he wouldn’t care about that subject matter.

“But enough about myself just allow me to clarify things for you Jakri so that I might try to understand whatever brain matter you possess…you have no idea where exactly your going, what to do once you get there, I’m also guessing no experience or knowhow yet you still want to sail for the sake of your own freedom!?” Trios ranted in his cold manner slowly hobbling a bit closer to Jakri to that the Isur would have to look up just to look into Jakri’s goggles. Tiros would take a few seconds of silence to gather his thoughts about the person before him.

Blind ambition to a passion was admirable to an extent but in all honestly it could only take a person so far. Who’d be mad enough to take this young man on a ship to sea on that simpleton notion of him wanting just to sail freely? What this creature needed was more than a geographic direction; he needed someone to give a direction in his ambition. Or maybe a good whack in the head to knock some sense into his skull, either or.

“Someone should have had the balls to say this to you a long time ago…….”

Arriving to a surprising conclusion, Trios casually extended his cane upwards at the other male as to hook his shoulder on the curve of the cane. Firmly pulling on the cane Trios would attempt to pull the other male to his eye level.

“Would you like a job?…..I may have an opening that might just work out with our goals.” A sinister smile cracked Trios’s lips as he thought about what an untapped resourse he’d have if he’d allow another person like Jarki into his company. Plus if all Jakri wanted at the moment was to set sail on the sea it was something that was fairly simple to provide and coincided with Trios’s own goals.

Three Worlds [Conrad][Jakri]

Postby Jakri on August 3rd, 2011, 5:21 pm

The person which stood before him was a man of the sea? Impressive, even more so if he would be like those that Jakri had read about years ago. What could this man tell him about? The seas? Adventures? Fighting? All those would be well and good. The only "sea" Jakri had experience in is the Sea of Grass and thats the sea that he wants to get out of as soon as possible. Yes, Jakri would have to ask this man about the life he is missing just staying here.

Jakri just nodded at the man's question. It is pretty obvious that Jakri is working on his strong Zith instincts and desires to satiate his curiosity for the sea. Seeing the man hobbling forward, Jakri took a step back in surprise and held on to his glasses thinking whether of not his disguise has been foiled this early already as though the man was piercing through his very lie.

Who was this man? He was vulgar and a dreamkiller to someone he had just met. Jakri suddenly became afraid of what was going to be said next despite him normally the one to strike fear into others. Still holding on to his glasses, he did not even get the time to react when he was pulled by the cane. Now face to face with the man and in panic of how things turned out he held on to the glasses harder and curled his lips, biting them for comfort.

"A...job?!?" Jakri asked eyes widened and mouth open with surprise recovering from his little shock. Jakri was at a loss. Was this man going to take him to the sea? All Jakri could do is look dumbfounded and at a loss of words, he only nodded.

“That’s what I said…. a job, don’t tell me your ears are as bad as your common” Barked Trios releasing the man from his cane so that the Isur could rest his weight on it again. The man took a bit of pleasure out of Jakri’s stunned nature at the offer to join him and Conrad on their little quest. Chuckling at how eventful this little walk on the sunset unfolded, Trios gave a few thoughts of how surprised the other member of his party would react to find a new member so quickly in their midst.

“I just need some extra hands to help acquire my ship, you could learn a thing or two and I might just take you with me on said ship too if you prove that your not too much of a headache as you are right now” continued Trios prodding Jakri once with with his cane. The last bit was rife with sarcasm as a way of the Isur to make a slight joke at the expense of the goggle wearing individual.

“So what’ll it be? Are you in or do you wanna keep on bumbling blindly towards gods know where….so speak up and wipe that dumbfounded look off your mug” Trios felt that with this individual he had to make things a blunt as possible. The Isur didn’t know why but he felt in his gut that Jakri was either not used to being talked to in this manner or had simply never been in this sort of situation.

The man admitted not having a ship yet, but as always he sounded confident. Taking everything lightly like he will always gets what he wants in the end. Jakri couldn't help but to end up agreeing with him with that kind of mentality. If he could not deliver where else is his confidence coming from? "Alright, I'll help you get your ship if you take me. But what headache are we talking about?"

"YES!" Jakri did with a little shriek of intimidation with the expression to match that which a Zith would use when hunting in reply to the Isur's question to try and wipe that dumbfounded look as the Isur has asked and acted a little bit more serious. Obviously this was a good deal for him and he should take it up immediately. "When will we be going?"
