Basic Information
Race: Kelvic (Clouded Leopard)
Birthday/Age: 10 Spring 509 AV, 3 years old
(Appears 19-20 in human form)
Gender: Female

Physical Description
In human form, Estr stands at about 5'8" with long tawny-brown hair with streaks of white and black running through it. Though she has a slender build, weighing in at only 120 lbs, she has enough muscle to hold her own. At first glance, there's nothing special about her, but a closer look at her dark brown eyes would reveal a cat-like shape, and a closer look at her teeth would show abnormal elongation of the canines.

Character Concept :
Never overly enthusiastic nor pessimistic, Estr remains a realist in all situations. She recognizes her lower position in society due to her animal nature and inability to learn at the same pace as even humans; however, she is always determined to learn as much as she can, even if it's not much. This determination is a private desire of hers, and doesn't discuss it with others due to the ignorant comments that she is sure are to follow - a bad combination with her quick temper. This is not to say that she doesn't enjoy company, but it is true that she enjoys being alone just as much if not more. She is generally easy-going around others, but builds relationships slowly - not out of fear of being hurt or lack of trust, but because of fear of her own devotion that was bred into her species that could turn her into someone's willing slave. Love, the overwhelming kind for another person outside of family relationships or close friendships, is something that she has never understood, nor does she expect to.

Character History :
Daughter of a Cougar Kelvic mother Cleaina and a Wolf Kevlic father Teo, Estr spent the first few months of her life learning two different lifestyles - an animalistic pack life, and civilized human life. Both of her parents had lived as independent [from a master of another race] Kelvics, her mother having been brought into her father's wolf pack as one rare exception despite being a feline due to her extraordinary hunting skills... and also because of the relationship she and Teo had begun in their human forms. Originally carrying twins, a pitifully small liter for an animal but considerable for a human, Cleaina experienced difficulty during birth due to remaining in her animal form, and only Estr survived. Neither her father nor mother had expected a clouded leopard for a daughter, anticipating either wolf or cougar, but the unusual result did not deter her parents love for her.

She had certainly inherited her mother's introverted, suspicious, quiet personality - that was clear from the first day. However, growing up in an unusual pack of mostly male wolves made for an interesting coming-of-age experience, one that proposed an interesting case for the nature vs nurture argument. While the first few years were spent with her mother, roaming and enjoying the serenity of their home in Taldera, this quiet existence would not last very long. Her father's rambunctious, almost immature manner when around his pack adjusted Estr to such an atmosphere quickly, teaching her to accept all different types of personalities at a young age. It also taught her to appreciate different things, such as the art of combat. From the youngest wolf pups to the more gentle adults, Estr was never without an opportunity to develop defensive and offensive skills, whether she liked it or not. With time, however, she grew to find that she rather enjoyed the action; it allowed her to explore strengths she didn't know she possessed, and to use her strategic mind in ways that simply hunting could not.

Still, Cleaina was not one to watch her daughter become consumed in the exhilaration of barbaric, animalistic brawling that could one day leave her dead if she didn't learn to otherwise exert the energy which was to that point being spent in fighting. She was a traveler, a learner, an intellectual who had raised her daughter with stories of her escapades similar to those of the Vantha, a race which Estr learned to have the greatest respect and awe for, promising herself that she would one day learn their culture and their language. The primary reason the cougar had traveled to Taldera in the first place was because she had heard of the genius of the Jamoura, and spent many nights in the rafters of an inn they had gathered in to listen in on whatever intellectual conversation they were having at the time. And so, Estr became her companion on these outings, and Estr too soon recognized within her a desire to learn and understand the complex scenarios which the Jamoura could so easily navigate. Unfortunately, this unusual kelvic desire did not mix well with her very commonplace kelvic shortcoming of being unable to learn languages quickly, and so the extent of her Jamourian often left her in the dark - one that she promised herself she would break free of.

Breaking free was a concept that Estr would quickly learn in other areas of her life as well. Just as the young kelvic was beginning to contemplate whether to pursue life on her own or to remain complacent in the pack she had grown up in, her mother was stolen from her. Not by death, nor by a hunter or anything of the sort. Rather, it was by Cleaina's own inner, kelvic nature and inclination toward subservience that pulled her into slavery. Estr could not understand how the loyalty she felt toward this seemingly random human she had met during one of her trips into town could outweigh the love she supposedly felt for her husband and child, but nevertheless her mother bid her adieu with a tearful, "I love you, darling." Estr had anticipated being able to see her mother from time to time on her own trips into town, but soon discovered that her new master was simply passing through - a traveler of sorts. Teo assured his daughter that it wasn't truly good-bye, but by the end of all of this it did not matter much to the young kelvic.

She had made the decision to travel - still using Taldera as a home base of sorts, as she could not bear to part from her father entirely. Before her first departure, Teo presented his daughter with a hollow pommel dagger with a Vani inscription on the side. It was her mother's, he explained, and she had wanted Estr to take it with her. A symbol of the freedom she once had which now lived on in her, she supposed, though her survival Vani could not decipher for her the wording on the handle. With it, she swore to her father that he would be the only person she counted on ever reporting to, never allowing her life to belong to another. He saw her off with a warning - sometimes, things are easier said than done, and heart and mind are not always in agreement.

And as much as she may hate it, she fears her life will prove him right.
