Basic Info

Race: Human
Birthday & Age: 22
Gender: Male

Physical Description

Douglas stands at a respectable 5'10", and weighs around 150 pounds. He keeps his red hair cut short, and his beard trimmed. There is a semi-permanent scowl on Douglas' face, and despite what you may be thinking, he is probably not having a bad a time as he appears to be. His green eyes have a hint of laziness in them, but when you catch him intently focused on something, his eyes seem to pierce through the very essence of what he is examining. Douglas spends a majority of his time inside, and is rather pale, but capable of tanning to a certain degree. His glasses, simple black metal frames, hang on the tip of his nose, and is often seen having to push them up onto his face.

Douglas dresses plainly in order to avoid suspicion from others. He wears a dark blue tunic, grey trousers, black boots, and when the weather calls for it, black fingerless gloves and a grey/blue reversible hooded cloak. Strapped to his belt is his sword and knife, and his bag is usually slung over one shoulder, unless he's actually going a sizable distance.

Character Concept

Douglas is a passionate young man with a desire to get what he wants, without interference with his personal ethics. Often times a trailblazer, Douglas is not afraid to do things differently if he feels it will have positive results. Douglas loves life, and is constantly in awe of the natural beauty that surrounds him, while ever watchful of the natural chaos that compromises his world. He believes that everyone serves a purpose, no matter how small, and can be very charismatic and chatty when meeting new people, while at the same time studying them carefully, to see if they are friend or foe, fool or genius.

Douglas realizes that he was born in a formative part of his land's history, and feels that if he makes his impact now, he can create something that will last hundreds, if not thousands of years after his time. His goal is to shape some part of the world in his image, but whether that will be a positive or negative thing for the people of Mizahar, remains to be determined.

Quick, cunning, and honest, Douglas is adapt at thinking on the fly, and engaging people in ways that will open as many doors as possible. That being said, often times people do not wish to hear what Douglas' opinion on the matter is, and may end up saying something that offends. Despite this, Douglas will apologize (half the time), but in his heart, feels he is still correct. Douglas is a scholar at heart, and wishes to constantly expand his pool of knowledge. The more things he understands, the more effective he will become as a person, and hopefully discover the true meaning of things. While only possessing skill in few magical arts, Douglas seeks to study them all at some point, at the very least having a basic understanding of the concepts, goals, strengths, and weaknesses behind each school of magic.

Despite his outgoing and friendly nature, Douglas will at times become stressed/exhausted about something, and will rarely share his personal/secret feelings, preferring that people interact with the "public" Douglas, and leave "private" Douglas to his business. In this state, he is prone to not making eye contact while reading/drawing/writing, and being very curt and sparse with his speaking.

Character History

Douglas' father was a wandering sword-for-hire based in Syliras. Sir Rollins was contracted by a group of mages on a journey to retrieve a magical artifact; the journey took several months longer to complete than anticipated, and the group encountered many hardships, and suffered great losses, but eventually, the mission was accomplished. The only two surviving members of the original party were Sir Rollins, and Elena, the mage who would become Douglas' mother.

Sir Rollins retired from his life as a fighter in order to protect and raise his new family. He had a rather impressive coffer saved up from his years of working, and supplemented his savings by helping train those who wished to become warriors. When Douglas was 10 years old, an old promise called his father back into action, and Sir Rollins hasn't been seen since. Left all alone to raise her son, Elena sold off her husbands land, and returned back to the cloister of her old order, and started Douglas on his path to becoming a mage. He left a year ago in order to learn more about the world and become more powerful.
