Persona
Personality: Dachua’s pavilion taught him the importance of patient and awareness, but also stressed boldness. The Drykas is silent when needs must, but is unafraid to express his opinion. He is most comfortable in a leadership role, and when the ability to make important decisions is taken from him he is like to fall apart. If he is not in command he will question orders if he has a better plan of action. Needless to say, his argumentative side has brought trouble down upon him, and will again.
Humor: His humorous side mostly emerges after several cups, but he is not beyond the occasional dry comment. He is especially likely to give a sarcastic remark when told to do something that he thinks is unnecessary, or inefficient.
Fears: Dachua is deathly afraid of all predators that hunt in packs, especially glassbeaks. He still bears emotional and physical scars from his last encounter with the fearsome creatures. He has gone so far as to flee his homeland to avoid the vicious predators.
Likes: Dachua is a simple man who enjoys the wilderness, especially the peaceful side of nature.
Dislikes: Drykas born and raised, Dachua uses everything, and leaves no plate dirty. He is baffled and offended when he spots waste.
Character History
Pre-Creation History: Dachua was born in the Moongrass pavilion in the year 485, the third son of the Ankal’s second wife. He was born during a mild spring, and so grew quickly and healthily. By the time he could walk he could ride a gently walking pony. From then on he grew quickly.
He began to tend to the Moongrass’s herds of Zibri at the age of six. Within two years he began to assist his family with the horses. In his spare time he trained with his brothers in the use of spears, daggers and bows, and was also taught Webbing by his father, the Ankal. He would often be found riding in his spare time.
During the summer of his fifteenth year, Dachua spotted a strange mare in their herds. The horse’s long black mane and tail and the silver-gray coloring marked it as a Cyphrus Strider. Several other Striders were members of the herd, but they avoided the wild mare. Boldly, Dachua approached the mare, planning on scaring it away. When the Strider did not move, he placed his hand on the horse’s neck. The Strider glowed briefly, and the others in the herd mimicked her. From that day on, Dachua sat nearer his father at meals than ever before.
The Ankal was oddly strict about who hunted, and now that Dachua had bonded with a Strider, he was often invited on trips. The hunting parties would sic their cats and dogs on prey, often wounding the larger game with an arrow beforehand. On one such trip the cries of the hunting cats attracted a trio of glassbeaks. The predators were able to approach the Drykas, and launched their attack. Dachua’s clothing offered little protection against the beaks and claws of his attackers, and his chest was torn deeply before the others could force them away. He was bound in his cloak, and began a year-long period of recuperation.
After over a year of recovering from the glassbeak attack, Dachua fled Cyphrus. He galloped across the plains, carrying with him naught but the clothes upon his back, his horse and the supplies and equipment he would need to survive the open world. He made way for the colder north, and plans at resting and restocking at the tradepost there.
