Totsumo Yamasaki Race: Human Birthday & Age: 28 Gender: Male Physical Description Totsumo stands just over 5 foot, 10 inches tall. Weighing only 150 lbs Totsumo has a more toned physic as opposed to the normal muscular body structure associated with those following the path of a warrior. Totsumo keeps the front portion of his head shaven, choosing to weave the jet black hair adorning the back portion of his head into a single braid, the end of which rests between his shoulder blades. His sharp brown eyes and seemingly surreal facial expressions tend to cause those around him to believe him to have wisdom beyond his years. Character Concept Totsumo Yamasaki comes from a long line of Lhavitians, generation after generation of which have become part of the Shinya. As such, Totsumo acts in an aristocratic manner — he seems always serene and detached towards other people, even when he is infact deeply conflicted. He is also extremely calm, even in battle, and is very seldom surprised by even the most drastic of actions, not even ones that endanger his very life. Despite this trait, Totsumo is a very perceptive man and is fully aware of the limits of his abilities and usually anything he states to an opponent about the comparision between the two's strengths is justified. Totsumo strongly believes in law and order. As part of a family that have devoted themselves to the Shinya way, he always works hard to become strong enough to help protect the peaceful Lhavitian society. He believes that to maintain the order, all law-breakers must be punished, even if that goes against his own wishes. In spite of his icy and regal like manner, he cares for and does his best to protect those most important to him. Character History Totsumo Yamasaki belongs to a family lineage of Shinya that can be traced back an estimated three centuries. Although not a part of a noble sect of society, Totsumo carries a particular pride in his family history and their accomplishments. The main aspiratory figure in Totsumo’s life was his father; while growing up, Totsumo faced the family and social pressures to inherit his father’s position as Head of the Yamasaki household and to continue into the Shinya profession. Taught that the honor of the family name and its traditions are the most important aspects of life, Totsumo went through a forced maturation process as a child – learning meditation at an earlier age than his peers and developing a sense of familial duty. Upon apprenticeship to a fully-fledged Shinya at the age of nine, Totsumo took on a four year training period consisting of chores, running errands for higher ranked Shinya, as well as the basics of discipline and communication skills necessary for an aspiring Acolyte. Totsumo’s vigor to achieve his potential as a new Acolyte shortened the training period by a year, in part because of his past experience with meditation and family history. The training sharpened control over his emotions and further solidified his desire to become a Shinya; while his personal history never allowed him to broaden his interests into considering other professions, Totsumo never felt the desire to enter another specialty and to depart from his path of becoming a Shinya. Totsumo continued training under his mentor, paying tireless dedication to have the chance to become a proper Shinya in the future. In his teens, competitiveness drove him to try to surpass the skills of his peers and Totsumo kept limited personal interaction with others. Now he is in his late twenties and still adamant in his goals to become the Shinya his family would be proud of.
