Home of the Konti people, this ivory city is built of native konti stone half in and half out of the sea. Its borders touch the Silverwood, and stretch upwards towards Silver Lake, home of the infamous konti vision water. [Lore]

Summer 3 511

Vitarzyr had spent a lot of time in libraries before now and he probably would again, but never in one quite so… small. Not small as in the amount of books, but nothing was quite sized for him. He was large even by Akalak standards, and now when he was surrounded by Konti, he may have well have been a human tower. At first he searches for a set of books in Tukant but having no luck with that he looks for books in common about salves that speed the healing process, and plants that are good for preventing infection. Basic things like that, this was his rest day, so he could read for the majority of the day, in pleasant peace. He read each page very slowly and carefully, often two even three times as to make sure he didn’t miss anything due to his merely average grasp of common. Several times he had to stop reading a section because there were too many words that he didn’t understand. The first time it happened he went up to the information desk to find a piece of paper and quill. He marks down all of his parts that he couldn’t understand for later.

He will at one point drop his weight a little too quickly on the rather small wooden chair he has been using and breaks three of the legs and the seat, splintering the front two legs. He tries in vain to catch himself but sprawls onto the ground. After this he excuses himself from the library for the day and exits the library his face staying a deep purple for the rest of his walk back to the stables were he kept his horse.

Vapis had had a lot of experience with people, be it other nuit, humans, even the occasional symnestran or ethaefal, but he had yet to meet an akalak. This made his shock and surprise upon seeing an almost seven and a half foot tall purple man walk out of a library a little more understandable. What kind of horse he wondered, observing the man walking towards the stables carries that a man like that?

Seeking to answer this very question, Vapis moved toward the stables behind the man, staying a good distance behind and being as inconspicuous as possible when you look like a paler-than-normal scribe that hasn't slept in a week. He noted that the rest of the man was more blue than purple and guessed-correctly-that the man was either overheated or embarrassed and that a purple face was a blush.

Eyeing the back of the man like a butcher, Vapis noted the good bone and muscle structure, and the fact that the man was in good shape. I do believe this man would make quite a good host he thought absently, filing away the image into his memory in case he were to need a new host while on the island. He smiled briefly as the man moved further, wondering what would happen if he asked for a new body at the town cemetery.

Vitarzyr was far too embarrassed to notice the tiny pale man behind him. And if he had he probably wouldn’t have though much of it, since this was his first time in Mura and he didn’t really know what kind of people were attracted here outside of the Konti who he knew lived here. He walked swiftly to the stables and went to where his horse was, a 20 hands high Seme with a barrel of a chest at that. He put the notes that he had taken at the library in the horse’s saddlebags, And patted it on the nose saying, “So I don’t lose these for now. That would be embarrassing, and I’ve had enough of that for today now wouldn’t you say boy.”

He walked into the horses stable and took out the grooming supplies and went to work cleaning his horse and trying to make sure that having to spend such a large amount of time in such a small space didn’t have any negative effects on him, he was a little too large for most things as well and he knew that the horse had to be uncomfortable as well. It was almost as if the only place the akalak fit well was in Riverfall, but if he wanted to learn to be a good healer, Mura was the place. He slowly worked all the knots out of his horses tail and mane, and cleaned the short hair. He finished quickly though as he kept his horse well maintained. And left the stable after he was done.

Vapis walked slowly behind Vitarzyr, entering the stable quietly after him. He wondered what a huge person like this, obviously trained to be a warrior, was doing in Mura. Perhaps getting some sort of medicine for a diseased relative? But that made no sense, because although Mura was the medicinal capital of Mizahar, almost all of the medicines made here could be shipped to anywhere in the world. Admittedly, it would cost a rather large sum of money, but only slightly less than actually going to Mura and back. To put it plainly, the nuit was stumped.

Looking up, he was faintly surprised by the sheer size of the horse, at least 20 hands high and broader than two normal horses. Vapis was also surprised by the tenderness of the blue man in tending to the horse. He would have expected a quick and rough brush down, but the giant was both gentle and thorough in taking care of the horse's coat, which was a little rough after his time in the stables.

The nuit continued to follow the giant after he left the stables, not making the slightest attempt to be furtive.

The pale man wasn’t even making an attempt to hide himself anymore he wasn’t blatantly following Vitarzyr and that was making him uncomfortable. Wheeling around he approaches the small pale man, keeping his lakan on his belt. “Who are you, and why are you following me?” he doesn’t say much because he doesn’t feel a need to, the way he looks says volumes. The dark glint in his eye’s is growing and you can tell that he is angry just from the look on his face. Walking up very close to the small pale man, and he looks into his eyes with rage in his eyes. Slowly lowering his hand to the blade at his belt, “I don’t like being followed, and I think that’s exactly what you are doing. Now there are very few answer’s that are going to get you out of trouble here, and for your sake, I hope you find one of them. Very soon."

The large man was noticeably angered by Vapis' blatant trailing, and he appeared to have a knife. While losing a limb or two wouldn't be the end of the world for Vapis, it might get a little dangerous if he lost too much ichor. Thus, it would be best to calm this giant down. Quickly.

"I apologize, sir" said the Nuit in his most mousy and subordinate voice. It was the vocal equivalent to a wolf pup showing its belly; a surrender that showed he was bowing down to a superior. Vapis reasoned that there was really no reason to maintain pride if it would get him killed. As the saying went "Don't offend the lion unless you have a sword". Vapis did not have a sword he could use, metaphorical or literal, and even if he had, he would have hesitated to use it, lest it do naught but anger the blue giant in front of him.

"I was merely following you so that I might strike up the nerve to ask the way to the market. I am new here, you see, and I don't know the way"

Dark brother was showing himself, and in a strong way, and dark brother disliked being followed, and was very suspicious of this man. Speaking loudly and angrily Vitarzyr “I am quite certain that you were not following me to ask me directions, as I am a very large blue man in a city of rather petite pale women, it is very obvious that I’m not a normal citizen here.” He is turning purple again this time not with embarrassment but with anger. “And though I dislike being followed I HATE BEING LIED TO” at this point dark brother began to back down.

He looks at the small man and begins to turn purple again and again in embarrassment, “I’m so sorry I don’t normally act like that. But I quite dislike being followed and lied to. It’s abundantly obvious that you were not following me because of a desire to ask directions, and it really is foolish to anger an Akalak.”

“Now please explain to me, before you anger me, what you were actually doing following me?”

Vapis very nearly gave up on lying right then and there, then realized there was little to no reason to give up a tool that had served him so well over the years. He simply needed to wield it more effectively. Wracking his brain for a convincing untruth, he stepped slowly away from the blue-purple giant, brushing himself off and shedding his dimunitive manner.

"Fine" He said crisply "you've caught me. I was following you for precisely the reason you saw through my deception. You are a gigantic blue man on an island of petite and pale women. I was curious and the day that becomes illegal is the day I commit suicide, Mr...?"

At this point, Vapis paused, content in his verbal victory. In essence, he had called the giant's bluff by not reacting to the threat. He knew there were guards all around, and so did the giant. He would never dare to make this a physical conflict.

“Mr. R. You may call me Mr. R. As I don’t know you, and don’t trust you enough to give you my name quite yet. And curiosity is one thing, but you had gone well past that point into a level of annoyance and rudeness, I find intolerable.” He takes his hand away from the knife at his belt, “Next time you are curious I suggest you just ask about it. If you have never met one before I am an Akalak, we are in a way the Konti’s opposite, a race of only men, we are rather large, dark skinned and haired, and our gifts are in discipline and strength. Have you never met one before?”

Vitarzyr waits patiently for an answer, this could be an opportunity to learn something more of the city, this man may also be able to be useful to him in other ways. He wasn’t sure how yet, but he was willing to wait and find out.

Vapis chuckled slightly. "Mr. R? How wonderfully creative! And besides, neither rudeness or being annoying are crimes. I have done nothing legally wrong, and as hard as it may be for you to grasp this, I don't have to do anything to accomadate you. That aside, I find it rather gratifying to think that the gods would do something like that, creating a sort of...balance in the world. I wonder, what would happen if a Konti and an Akalak had a child...?"

Vapis shook his head, ignoring the irrelevant question. It wouldn't help him to think with such random thoughts runnng through his head.
